Their section of YETI coolers is one of the largest around, as well as pop up canopy shelters. I can depend on the quality of the brands being sold at Dick's. I had a very pleasant and informative experience at Dick's Sporting Goods. I recently made a mental pact that I would start running regularly and stick with it! To do so, I needed a few things. On the top of the list was a good, solid pair of running shoes. As it has unfortunately been some time since I've had a regular work out schedule, I knew very little about the shoes out there on the market. The shoe department, located in the back of the store, has a decent selection of various shoes including those for running, toning, walking, etc. While the selection was not extensive for running, what was available I found to be of high quality and appropriately priced. I tried on several pairs before finding the golden ticket: Asics Gel 1150 Stability Running Shoe. The employee, whose name I wish I caught so as to thank him, was extremely informative about what kind of running shoe would work best for my needs. Having been a gymnast in the past, I have a multitude of joint problems that flare up from time to time. The special stability shoe I had in my hands would help reduce stress to my ankles and knees and provide shock absorption along the way. He sensed my apprehension about dropping $74 on a pair of shoes I was unsure about. . . and suggested I run on a treadmill with them so I could return them if I was not satisfied. What a great idea this turned out to be! I went for a run, decided the shoes were great but a bit too large, so I went back, exchanged them for a half size smaller, and I now have shoes I feel confident about running in. All staff were extremely helpful in my search. I look forward to returning for my future sporting needs. read more

Wow! Amazingly bad service! Those old time photos of the original Dick's made to give a warm fuzzy feeling while shopping? Totally a scam! I ordered and paid for a Nordic Track exercise bike. I paid for delivery and set up as well as an extra $25 for removal of the packing materials , cardboard boxes, etc... Got a call it would be delivered Saturday between 3-6 pm Im at work and get a call at 11:25 am saying we are at your home with delivery. I'm 45 minutes away and tell them I will be there asap.They hang up and they never returned for the appointed timeframe. I call the store.( why am I calling them?!) We reschedule . Same thing next Saturday 3-6 pm. I get a call at noon, we are at your house. I say please wait I will be there in 45 minutes. They left but I called a supervisor, so I leave work early, losing wages and get there. They set up the bike, and leave, and I call them saying I paid for trash removal. They kept driving saying they aren't coming back. I call the store, I call the delivery company......nothing.No resolve. It's now a week later I lost wages, paid $25 extra and I'm looking at the packaging in my driveway..! If it was my business I would offer something as a gesture for the time spent, wages lost and inconvenience. Oh yeah, the $25 I paid for trash in my driveway I will never give Dick's another dime of my business. R.E.I. is the best. This place is the worst. read more

Tom (in the golf department) was very helpful he went above and beyond to help me find the correct spikes and to find the correct wrench to change the spikes out. Do not go here, the customer service is AWFUL. Waited, waited, waited and finally the salesperson sent someone over to help me with binoculars. The kid they sent immediately admitted he knew nothing about binoculars. The customer service man had me and two other customers waiting and took a phone call ignoring all of us standing there. They are completely out of it -- went to the front register to look for help and they were all working on some project, not paying attention to anybody. The worst. read more

Any time my child needs something for baseball or soccer we come here. Not only do they ALWAYS have what I need (even gloves for Lefty's) but the service is great as well. The store is always clean and the employees are helpful. For shoe selection they can't be beat for cleats. They have deals for soccer season as well as coupons at the register (if you're like me and are a last minute person and realized the morning of opening day your child's pants are too small). I never leave bad reviews but needed to after my experience here. I was making a $500 purchase, and had a picture of my dads credit card but not the physical one. I understood this might have been a problem, so I asked Diane at the front if I could make my purchase even though I didn't have a physical card. She was immediately snobby and dismissive off the bat, and just gave a no. I then asked if I could possibly do a curbside pickup of the items I had, which she said she couldn't guarantee they would be the same items, even if I put them on hold. We kind of stood there in silence for a bit before I asked how long she could keep them on hold, which she replied very shortly a few days. I then thanked her and walked out, and she gave a short "bye". I completely understand what she was saying, it was just HOW she said it. She was incredibly rude and dismissive, didn't offer up any advice or info, looked very bothered while I was asking questions (even though I was making a $500 purchase??) and only gave very short answers then entire time. I genuinely wasn't rude at all, and just wanted to get information. Extremely upset by how I was treated. read more

What kind of customer service lets a $500 order walk away?? They have kayaks for sale. I want to buy two. I am working out of state and won't be home until after the sale is over. They will not allow me to provide my credit card number over the phone to order two kayaks and oars to hold the sale price. Kyle the manager says it's a liability?? Really?? Since when?? Don't we provide credit card number to pizza places, QVC, etc.? I am so upset about losing the opportunity to get two on-sale kayaks for my parents' house on the water because this store is in the stone age. Either I do without or I pay too much. While I have had good experiences in the past, my most recent trip to this store has convinced me to look elsewhere. After finding the running shoe I wanted online, I chose the same "off the wall". While the shoe department employee was very nice, after 20+ minutes of searchign he could not locate my (nor any other Men's sizes). Important to note was that he was the lone employee ((6:45 pm on a Wednesday)) in the department with 4+ customers seeking shoes. Settling on my second choice I proceeded to the checkout, where I waited for another 20+ minutes in a line of 1 while the cashier individually checked out a woman's 10+ item purchase in order to use coupons. The entire time a second employee watched me wait ((while standing in the area of the next register)). Only when I line reached 8-10 did the lone cashier call for reinforcements. My son plays multiple sports and I can always find what he needs to play. Staff is always friendly and helpful.

While I'm not one to go around speaking ill of any business Dicks has left me no choice. I go there often but only because they have the sport supplies and equipment I need, in fact, in most cases, they have the best stuff around. The problem with this place is they know it and hold you hostage as a result. There is almost no staff in the entire mamouth sized store, you are completely on your own there. On my last and final visit, I waited in line for over 20 minutes with just one person in front of me. I felt bad for both the customer and the cashier, he was clearly undertrained and this international conglomorate is just ok with this poor kid running the store. The hold up was that he didn't know how to issue a refund, a basic function of a cashier. It wasn't until the line had five people in it that he called for back up. I have seen this there many times when the cavalary finally arrives to save the day but my question is where are they in the first place? While all this was happening an elderly lady came to the counter to complain that she was in the shoe department for 20 minutes and said no one would help her even after she asked twice. The additional cashier rudely replied "oh, there's no one working shoes right now". It was sad, I put down the $300.00 in gear I was buying and left. I won't be back but I will find a new local place to fulfill my needs, dicks need to know they just lost a good customer. read more
