I responded stating that I did not know, because I had questions about the process and was put on hold. I was then told that they could not offer me the consultation since I was not 100% certain that I wanted to bring the case to court? How can I be certain of this if I've had ZERO questions answered? Short version: Do not hire them. One short month after the firm of Dickson Frohlich LLC merged to become Dickson Frohlich Phillips Burgess PLLC we filed complaints against them with the Washington State Bar Association and the WA State Attorney General's Office Consumer Complaints division. Long Version: Rob Dickson knows a lot about Real Estate Law, no question. Once he convinces you to hire the firm, however, your case will be handed to a lackey with little or no experience who will bumble through your case with no accountability. We hired Dickson Frohlich to handle an adversarial possession claim by our neighbor who was baselessly trying to grab a corner of our property. Although we ultimately won our case, we had to file a complaint against Dickson Frohlich Phillips Burgess PLLC with both the WA State Bar Association and the WA State Attorney General's Office - Consumer Concerns Division in order to 1) Get this firm to even respond to us at all after they stopped communicating, 2) Get our settlement check of $18k which they had been keeping for over two months, and 3) Get a refund of nearly $10k from the firm because they negotiated a way-to-low settlement amount (without our approval) based on their own faulty accounting of the bills we had paid them. If you hire this firm, you can look forward to: * Receiving multiple erroneous invoices * Sloppy and careless accounting (like ours that resulted in a legal offer being made to the plaintiff that was $10,000 less than expenses paid) * Being told that you will be liable for payment of thousands of dollars in legal expenses due to the incorrect offer made to and accepted by the plaintiff * Not being informed of the date and time - nor even being invited to attend - important client depositions, depriving you of hearing in person the testimony of your adversaries. * Having your explicit, written negotiation terms being ignored. * Negotiations being made on your behalf that are not in your best interests and without your knowledge or consent. Dickson Frohlich's only interest appears to be in reaching the quickest possible settlement that benefits themselves and opposing counsel, not their clients. * Repeatedly being given legal documents filled with grammar, spelling and factual mistakes. * Being given no forewarning and less than six hours' time on a weekday to review and sign important legal documents to meet a filing deadline that they knew about for weeks. * Receiving multiple urgent phone calls from angry staff demanding that you sign their documents filled with incorrect information that, should you sign them, would amount to perjury. * Repeated and lengthy lack of communication from the firm with no response to your inquiries, and being lied to about when you will receive a response ("I'll get back to you tomorrow...") * More erroneous invoices sent to you more than a year after your case is closed. Lawsuits are already highly stressful. Having to battle our own attorneys because of their incompetence, ineptitude, refusal to listen, and refusal to communicate turned this case into a nightmare. read more

I should have come to Yelp instead of just googling any attorney that could help in a commercial case. My whole dealing with this firm has been chaos and lack of communication. Initially I reached out via email, and Tom responded asking a series of questions to attain a better understanding of our case. His questions were thorough, and to give a better understanding, I included diagrams to fully explain our situation. I didn't expect a response right away, but a reasonable amount of time would have been great. So I called and spoke to Katie, who was very pleasant. However when speaking to her, I just wanted to talk to Tom to get clarification from him if he could help us or not. But Katie insisted I give her the whole story, therefore I did. After explaining my story to her, she tells me that their firm can't help me, so I'm dumbfounded and find myself asking her why he would go through the trouble of already responding a couple times if he feel he couldn't help me. So I emailed him again and told him that Katie informed me they couldn't help me and proceeded to continue my search for an attorney. Tom responded Monday afternoon and reassured me he could help us with our case around 4pm. I quickly responded and asked for a phone call the next day to discuss fees. He never bothered to call. I stepped out of an appointment to call since i hadn't heard from him in almost 24 hours. Of course he was available when I called but he wasn't available to speak to me? I moved on in desperate need of cementing counsel. I got prices and fees and asked if he could email me, he says, "No I'll just tell you in person.". I should have hung up then and just move on. After speaking with my business partner about retaining Tom, my business partner asks me to call Tom and request a Fee Agreement. He says he will get it right over. Almost 6 hours go by and I don't receive anything until 9:30 the next morning. Keep in mind that I am on a deadline and these people know this. At this point I have only 3 days so I review the documents they send over but it includes nothing that I discussed with Tom and the information they have isn't even correct. Silly me and my desperation pay the $3.5k retainer. When I email Tom asking about the information not being correct or anything we discussed, with only 2 days left you n my calendar. After no response I call and ask to speak to him the next morning (today), now with only 1 day left. Katie then tells me he's on another call but will call me back "as soon as he is done". I rescheduled an appointment this afternoon to get everything taken care of on my end, considering I have a limited amount of time and I need to get back to work. I sat and stared at my phone for 2 hours before I decided to call and ask to speak to Tom. Of course he's available, so I ask him to clarify the change. It would be one thing if Tom explained his changes to me, but he seemed to have changed his tone and demeanor entirely after getting that retainer paid. Suddenly he was talking down to me and she speaking to me like I was an uneducated moron, talking over me. So I politely stopped him and told, "Tom, I don't think we are on the same page. You have been dragging your feet..." cutting me off he says, "There will be times when you can't get ahold of me...". "I understand that", I said. "But there is no reason that to lack any sense of urgency when I've clearly expressed the obvious urgency of this matter. And quite frankly I don't appreciate being talked down to, and talked to like I'm stupid. Can you please refund my retainer immediately?". Suddenly his tone changed, but by this time it was too late, I had made up my mind. I refuse to pay someone $400+/ Hour to be disrespected that way, as well as have him milking the clock. Save your time and money and find another attorney. Thank goodness I had already gotten a new law firm lined up a few days ago when I started to sense that this guy didn't care about this case. Thomas L. Dickson of Dickson Frohlich PS (formerly the Dickson Law Group) has been disciplined by the Washington State Bar Association (WSBA) and been the subject of numerous malpractice lawsuits. We previously had two complaints pending against Thomas L. Dickson and former Dickson Law Group attorney Bryan D. Johnson. These allegations were serious and appeared to indicate a serial pattern. Client reviews of Thomas L. Dickson on attorney website AVVO support this. Former Dickson clients who believe they have been wronged or taken advantage of may have recourse through the Washington State Bar Association and may be eligible for restitution and compensation for damages suffered. We previously retained Thomas L. Dickson of the Dickson Law Group to represent us and our entities. We paid substantial retainer at the outset for them to perform specific agreed upon tasks. Discussions were had at the outset and it was agreed among the parties that numerous motions and a response to a settlement offer we had received would occur immediately. Thomas L. Dickson was to handle the case and associate Bryan D. Johnson was to perform routine functions. Despite numerous written requests for updates and phone discussions, we received no reply from the Dickson Law Group. Their only communication involved sending regular billing for services supposedly rendered, including services they had specifically been forbidden to perform. We questioned but continued to pay invoices even after it became apparent something major was wrong. This was a mistake. We again emailed the Dickson Law Group with yet another request for update and explanation of billings. They responded three days later to inform us the opposing side had filed a Motion for Partial Summary Judgment. This Motion had been filed almost a week earlier but Dickson Law Group had failed to notify us. They provided no explanation, nor did they respond to further inquiries regarding billings or the actions they were supposed to have already taken but had not. Dickson Law Group then spent the next several months attempting to withdraw from the case, filing two separate motions to withdraw, each with a Motion for Reconsideration after the Court's adverse rulings. Additionally, despite there being in place a joint representation agreement, Dickson Law Group entered into a separate attorney/client relationship with a fourth defendant without consulting or notifying us of their action. This is a clear violation of their Washington State Bar ethical responsibilities. Dickson Law Group not only took thousands upon thousands of dollars and failed to perform as agreed, they failed to perform at all. Eventually they launched an attack against us to force us to retain new legal counsel for the purpose of bailing out not only us, but them as well, as severe consequences had resulted from their failure to perform. Research indicates that our experience with the Dickson Law Group is neither unique nor unusual. Their business model appears primarily designed to separate clients from their money as fast as possible, dump them, and move on to the next victim. Providing actual legal services appears to play only a minor or coincidental role. Additional comment on YELP: Judging from other reviews here on Yelp, this tiger does not appear to have changed his stripes. Mr. Dickson has numerous malpractice and other lawsuits against him, which appear to have followed him along the trail of discarded law firms until he finally started his own firm, along with son Rob and nephew Dan. To see the lawsuits, you can go to the online Washington Courts directory of cases and search under his name under the superior court tab. Search for his name, Thomas Dickson. Some of his cases show his middle initial of 'L' and some don't. Keep in mind these do not include disputes Mr. Dickson may have settled on his own or through his insurance carrier. Last, but not least, Mr. Dickson was disciplined by the Washington State Bar Association (WSBA) regarding a serious fiduciary matter. I'm giving them a one because I can't give them a zero. I called them from a referral left a vm because noone actually answered their phone. Waited two days fora response then called them back. The receptionist mentions there is a "note" that says they can't handle my request. When I ask her why they hadn't bothered to relay the information from that "note" to me; she started to make a million excuses. OMG! I Am trying to start a non-profit business. This guy (Shad) actually told me he didn't know what the Washington state Charities Program was nor did he know what type of a charity a church was (and this is supposed to be their profession?). Then he told me that writing my bi-laws and my articles of incorporation wasn't worth his time. He said he makes $210 an hour and the 5 hours to JUST re-write and file those wouldn't be worth his time. He asked me, "Now, how much would that be worth to you? What would you charge?" He then said, "We are trying to run a business here." I could go on, but I lack the vigor. Stay away, I knew more about the law than him. Dont trust them with your legal needs. He also professed NOT to be a tax attorney and that I would have to spend more money on another attorney to answer questions about taxes on starting a non profit business. What pisses me off is that their website says they are non-profit professionals in the law! It's their specialty. He was rude. read more
