I am giving 5 stars to Dr. David Alexanian. He is a fantastic medical provider. Does a great job at listening, taking into account so many factors, asks questions to get a full picture. I always feel seen and heard. Treatment is always done collaboratively. It is from Dr. Alexanian that I learned about other health issues unrelated to my GI symptoms. As for office staff, they are friendly. This is a busy practice, so sometimes it takes a while to get a hold of someone which is understandable. I would highly recommend Dr. Alexanian to anyone looking to seek a GI provider. read more

Dr. Fisher is thorough and knowledgeable. His Burbank office is friendly as is the surgery center. I dealt with a very weird and scary reflux esophagitis pain that destroyed my quality of life right when the pandemic started in 2020 and he helped me get the ball rolling to get my Linx implant. In the beginning he told me I had hypersensitivity that was caused by stress and I was upset. I thought it was because I'm a woman but looking back, he was 100 percent right that did play a role. I was overwhelmed with stress of knowing I would have to teach online and stress does show up I'm ways you would least expect. Oh, and Dr. Fisher was singing Foreigner's "I Wanna Know What Love is" as I was waking up from my endoscopy. He had no shame and was having a ball too. Great energy. read more

The office staff is not friendly nor helpful. The NP is not about giving help but making you feel like you are wasting her time. They do not provide any suggestions to help you figure out your digestive issues. It takes months to see the doctor so in desparation to be seen, you agree to see the NP. I love the NP at my GP's office( rather see her than the doctor but the NP) at DHC the NP is not sympathic and does not provide any natural options to try and improve your symptoms. An honest account step by step no lies or exaggerations of a colonoscopy, well, with Dr Kasher that is. Read on and breath deep breaths. The dreaded Cololonoscopy THING was at the top of the 'ughhh' list, for me anyway. Well fear no more. Dr Kasher at the Digestive health consultants, and his fantastic team, make it actually, really really ok. I bit the bullet and did the research and I mean review after review then friends etc and he was the one I got a good 'feeling' about. I was right. let me break it down for you. IN A NUTSHELL. You call and schedule an appt for a regular preventative colonscopy. You go to the lovely office and get met by lovely people and fill out some forms like any drs appt , THEY ARE UBER CLEAN EFFICIENT LOVELY AND ON TIME. You see the super nurse who takes your basic info then Dr Kasher comes in all smiles totally charming and two secs you're done. He's read your info, he just likes to meet and say hi and be human. He cares about me, about you, about human beings, we are not a number or an appt. You leave after talking to the lady that books the appt. Its so "oh, that was it" Get the prescription kit for the prior week and it's all explained anyway but go get it so you have it. Its a one page simple thing, drink this mix this etc. DONT LISTEN TO THE DRAMA PEOPLE "oh the drink is vile" it makes you explode" ok not sure who their dr was but mine tasted ok and nothing happened except water poo's after a few hours. Some people, even loved ones will exaggerate, even my pharmacist did, She said good luck take some wipes home today. Don't listen people love to tell their awful story. I ate nothing the day before, I drank the drink night before and then early am morning of. Pee'd a lot, showered washed WASHED and you're basically pooing water that day anyway. You drink some water, you lose it straight off, then no nothing 4 hours before. I went in, signed in put on a robe and was treated with such a calm lovely atmosphere and everyone was amazing. I did the half knocked out so waist down and thought i'd be awake kinda, nope. I was wheeled in to the room, there was dr Kasher, Hi David Hi there doc, all good, yup. They give you a little sleepy time and next thing I know my friend is there and I'm functional for sure, managed to take off the robe and get dressed. all done. I got home and was actually kinda fine like normal, called mum, called work,all good and woke up next day no sore bum nothing. A few days later a follow up call about am I ok, yes. Then the dr emailed me this week, a week later, one polop was removed, its been tested and is totally fine and all gone, see you in 7 years. I HAD BEEN LIVING WITH WHAT IF , for so long, that back of the mind worry and for what? Go, go now, its not awful, its not painful, its not a poo thing or a naked thing, it's a human thing and dr Kasher is the best and loveliest man as are his whole team. To prove it, he didn't ask for a review, a rave, nope, he asked me to try to share where I could and to whom how it wasnt horrible. I want to be super clear, the lower rating is not for Dr. Kasher or the nursing staff. They are tremendous and Dr. Kasher went out of his way to expedite procedures and tests based on a diagnosis I recently received. He's a kind man, who cares greatly about his patients and I recommend him. The nurses were also fun hearted and helpful assisting anywhere they could. However, the front office staff is an absolute joke. The Burbank location front office is the subject of this review. Rude, conceded, and arrogant to say the least. When dealing with appointments, follow ups, or requests to set up follow ups with the doctor, we constantly received rude attitudes and dismissal. It was very difficult trying to get phone calls returned, and navigating their long winded voice mail. We called one day to ask if we could set up a time to speak to the doctor regarding a procedure and were told "No, you can't speak to him". Who says that to a patient? Certainly not within the standard of care. My diagnosis is extremely concerning, is life threatening, and scary to say the least especially for someone younger in my age group. None of the front staff showed any compassion or care to help, berating people as they arrived and feeling the need to push around whatever weight each of them felt they had. On our last visit, my fiancée and I came to try and pick up copies of the pathology report but one of the women felt it was more important to glare at me while disinfecting pens and then proceeded to put up an out to lunch sign in an apparent attempt to make it clear we were a disturbance. It's a real sad situation considering there are a lot of patients with serious health issues and tests coming in. We were dismissed even when family doctors reached out to try and connect with Dr. Kasher of which who received the very same treatment. I will be speaking with my GP who referred me to Digestive Health to let her know for future reference. If you plan on being a patient here, you will hopefully receive great treatment by the actual doctors, nurses, and staff who schedule the physical procedures and are the people that matter. The high school dropouts in the front you'll have issues with, so just be prepared. Ignore them and speak to the doctor if you have concerns as they really need to make serious changes. Be careful working with the Administrator that schedules the appointments and selects the facilities. Although I provide all of my medical insurance provider information to the Administrator, she went ahead and selected a facility that was out of network and not covered by my health insurance which almost cost me over $20,000 in out of pocket expense. She had three facilities to choose from and selected one that was out of my network. Additional, the day of my appointment for a standard preventative procedure the administrator handed me a 20 page contract basically stating I would be responsible for any cost not cover by insurance. Even though I had not eaten for 24 hours per their instructions and not feeling 100 percent I modified the contract to state that my insurance carrier was responsible for all cost period. Fortunately, after submitting an appeal and waiting two long months for an answer my insurance provider finally agreed to pay the uncovered amount. Take away: get it in writing from insurance provider that every doctor and facility used is indeed covered and get a copy of any contract the doctors office wants you to sign weeks in advance so that you have plenty of time to review and formulate any questions. I'm giving them one star for lack of any sort of compassion or empathy or understanding. That said I never even saw a doctor. Yes, I was 6 minutes late to my appointment. My tardiness was pointed out the second I picked up the pen to sign in. It was pointed out in a snide and condescending tone by one of the ladies at the front desk who was backed up by an equally snide and condescending colleague. Obviously upset I tried to explain but was cut off by the first woman who told me to take a seat and she would check with the doctor to see if he would still see me. When she returned I was bluntly told that I would have to reschedule because I had been late. Incredibly upset I tried to explain but was not listened to again. I give them one star because they lack any understanding of the world around them. I can't imagine that I'm the only patient who works a full time job, has kids, and commutes to work. I have had it with this practice. I have been coming here for at least 14 years and seeing Dr. Fisher. My problem isn't with him, it's the front desk staff, and the nurse practioner (who can be rude). They hound you relentlessly with robocalls to call and schedule your appointment and then they never answer the phone. The guy who does the colonoscopy scheduling never returns messages or answers the phone. The last straw for me was that I finally got an appt for last week and when I arrived, they would not see me because I didn't show up 30 minutes early to fill out a bunch of paperwork. The practice has been taken over by some other company and they claim you have to fill out everything again (even though nothing has changed in any of my info and the patient portal is exactly the same). So they rescheduled me for a month away. I took off time from work to drive all the way over there just to have them turn me away. So I am done with this group. I signed up with another Insite Digestive group in another city and I got an appt within one week, and they sent a text which had about 5 questions to answer which updated my info. This place has by far the most unprofessional getto staff I've ever encountered. A woman Named Heather who wouldn't let me get a word is. Told me "I'm making sure no ones trying to screw you" she said this to me after i asked if she even knew what I was calling about before cutting me off . After I called her out for saying such a thing. she just puts me on hold. Then a woman named Ana picks up. Who's not any better at her job then Heather. I ask her what's the woman's name that I just spoke too. She says hold on and puts me on hold. As to find out if she should tell me her name. Comes back and tells me Her name was Heather. Who knows if this is really her name. I tell Ana I called at 9am regarding my test results for a procedure done 3 weeks ago. I was told that they would call me back to find out what's happening because it should only take 7 to 10 days. I followed up at 2pm and now Ana states that she never spoke to me. And she states that she was the only one taking calls that morning. This the type of staff this place has? So I told her. That I have a outgoing call to this exact number and durations 7 min. So I'm lying? She starts to go into how rude I'm being and just puts me on hold. I have to hang up call back and she picks up just puts me on hold. Comes back says sorry I can't find the manager. I never had an issue trying to speak to someone with some type of professionalism in a doctors office before. Somehow I can't reach a nurse, doctor or a manager to give me an update on what happened with a test that was done 3 weeks ago. I want to give my doctor here 10 stars. Dr. Alexanian is compassionate, thorough, knowledgeable, proactive, kind and communicative. He takes my concerns seriously and goes above and beyond in helping me get to the bottom of my chronic condition. I'm only knocking off points because of the same reason Libby left a poor review below, in hopes that it will influence change at the front desk. One of the women who answers the phone is polite but then again, I always make sure to be over the top friendly with front desk medical staff because I know people can be rude to them since they're stressed out about their health and that's partly why administrative professionals in this field are often short-tempered. I set myself up to not be treated rudely by being as kind as I possibly can. However, I had the same exact thing happen to me with the other woman answering the phone. I am someone who is typically early to appointments but there had been a miscommunication when I made my appointment so I'd noted in my calendar that my appointment was at 2:30 when it was at 2:20 or something like that. She was so rude about it that I was surprised, because never in my life has a front desk person ever made me feel bad even when I myself felt bad if I was late for some reason. She did not hide her irritability about it and over the phone made a point to make a snide comment about it. It was as if she went out of her way to let me know how rude of me it was and how it would not be tolerated. People are often late for appointments for reasons beyond their control AND we live in LA, which is so unpredictable in terms of traffic, so this attitude is really unprofessional and unwelcome. I always do my best to respect others' time and if I'm late it's always an honest mistake or issue I was not able to control. I was shocked by her rudeness. It does also take numerous phone calls to get test results, though my doctor always tries to expedite this process. I just think he is stuck working in a system that is not as efficient as he is. Otherwise, the parking is easy, the building is clean and my doctor is the best GI doctor I've ever had. If you're really nice and friendly, the front desk will be nice to you, but if they're slightly irritated, they will not hide it. read more

As others have commented on Yelp and Google, the experience here is roundly unpleasant. You arrive early and are rushed through not one, but two storms of paperwork. It's 2022: why is this wasteful exercise from yesteryear even a thing? Just have your patients answer questions online beforehand for crying out loud, it's not that hard. Once you get into the medical bays, waiting for your doctor- or in my case, nurse practitioner- to arrive, it's Spartan and quiet. The cold comforts of the interior very much suit the morale projected by a palpably fed up staff. Then a nurse rushes in, asks a few questions and weighs you on an ancient scale...(headslap)...am I cattle? Then, the moment we've all been waiting for (well I was), the NP walks in. No eye contact, terse greeting. Asks why you're there, you talk for moments before being interrupted, looked up and down as she proceeds to dismiss nearly everything you've said, neglecting to even acknowledge others, writes a few things down, offers either blood work or a colonoscopy/endoscopy, rushed through explanations as though it's my fault for not having gone through med school before turning up. I came in because I'm ill. I am also neurodivergent. I am scared and could've used a caring bedside manner, some reassurance, deliberate and understandable explanations. I received none of those before the NP left me with, "the nurse will be in to explain the next steps." Same nurse as before rushes in, gets right up to my face as I sit in the same chair I started out in (there was a bed, but I wasn't examined. I wonder if anyone ever is..) and very cursorily runs through pre-procedure steps, parts with "drop off your paperwork at the front desk and scheduling will be in touch." That was my visit. In at 9 for a 9:30, appointment started in earnest at 9:40 and ran til 9:54. read more

From start to finish this whole process has been completely frustrating. When I first called I asked to get an appointment with Dr. Kariskus ( not spelled right and don't care) and was told he was looking 2 months out but I could see the nurse practitioner and she would set up a plan of action with him. Fine, I got in to see her the next week then I was scheduled for an endoscopy. They put me down with Dr Kasher, not the doctor I had requested it now took 4 days to get my paperwork correct and get me on the books to schedule an endoscopy with the doctor I wanted, and only after I called the office multiple times to get it scheduled. Then on the day of my endoscopy the doctor was running a little late, only 10 minutes so no big deal. But at the Alameda Surgery Center they were rushing us through the procedure because he had so many patients to get to and administered my sedative without even telling me they were doing it. No countdown just all of a sudden I was falling asleep. I am a healthy 37 year old woman, not overweight, I don't smoke and the last time I had an endoscopy I had zero issues for the rest of the day. This time there was so much sedative administered I came home and slept for 5 hours and threw up four times. Now I just finally heard from the doctor about the results of my biopsy and while trying to ask him questions he cut me off and said he has another patient waiting on the table and if I have more questions I can schedule an appointment to come in and speak to him. Why would he not schedule at least 10 minutes to answer all of my questions. I had only met him 2 minutes before I fell asleep and he stuck a camera down my throat the least he could do is have the common courtesy to answer my questions now that he didn't answer that I was in the middle of asking him while I was being put to sleep. read more

You can never reach a person on the phone. You have to go through myriad of voice mail instructions and then it ends up you get a voice mailbox. Calls if ever are returned. The patient portal goes down also so you can't even send an email. I have been waiting for the results of my CT scan and it has been over 10 days. Also I experienced severe pain in my abdomen one morning and called them asking what I should do. Of course, it was the voice mail again. Didn't receive a call back until the next day. When I finally got an appointment, the GI said I should have gone to the ER since it was a potentially dangerous issue. They need to have a a LIVE person answer the phone in case of emergencies. I am changing doctors and informing my insurance company how unorganized this place is. It's simply too big and chaotic to service it's patients well. read more

I had an appointment with Dr. Garrett that took a week to get. I had pain for a week and was eager to see him. He works out of various offices and my wife asked if I could go to the Valley Village location which is closer to home. The receptionist (Vanessa) never clarified the location when confirming the appointment so my wife assumed it it was at Valley Village. I show up on time to complete paperwork, but found out Dr. Garrett was at the Burbank office. I call to let them know I'm on my way out of courtesy and Vanessa shared they could not see me as I was late. I clarified I was late to fill out the paperwork, but not late for the actual appointment. They turned me away. A patient in pain who made an honest mistake, she's not even professional enough to listen to the patient and sympathies for his situation. I tell her I made the appointment because I have a medical problem... and her answer is "everyone who sees a doctor has a medical problem!" No, not true... my wife saw Dr. Garrett for a pre appointment for a colonoscopy. I had pain. Dr. Garrett should pay attention to his front office and teach them compassion and better bedside manners. The doctor is great. unfortunately, he isn't the person you're going to be working with most often. The office staff is terrible. I've had such a wide variety of issues in the five or six times that I've worked with them over the last three years or so. My pharmacy even had issues when they tried to get a prescription re-upped. My list of issues with the staff include being left in a waiting room for 40 minutes (I finally poked my head out and they moved me to another room where I waited another ten), their inability to schedule an appointment as far out as the doctor suggested (only three months or so), their automated appointment calling not working, rudeness when I changed pharmacies, and not returning calls. read more

Run don't walk away from this practice. I should have known to walk away while I was in the waiting room for my appointment. The receptionist was being unbelievably rude to an elderly lady to the point that she was near tears (and so was I in sympathy). I now regret that I didn't say anything. That however is only one reason why I'm giving them 1 star. I received an invoice for $157.95 for my co-insurance and I promptly went on my HRA's website and submitted the claim and then they sent out the payment. Ever since I have been hounded by them for payment saying they never received the check. My HRA company confirmed they received it and cashed it on May 5 and yet they still can't locate it. I had to request a copy of the cancelled check by mail and in the meantime I've received another letter stating that they have been attempting to contact me and my account will be sent to collections. This despite the fact that I have spoken with them on numerous occasions and they were well aware that I was waiting to receive this proof of payment. Of course I received proof of payment from my HRA company and of course it proves they deposited the check exactly when I told them they did. If they can't find $157.95 with plenty of clues I'm not trusting them with a colonoscopy. read more

My first visit was amazing. I was getting set up for a colonoscopy, which I have not had one in more than 6 years. The staff was professional and informative, especially Martha! The doctor was patient and kind and answered all my questions. The "before" procedure has been improvised, so that you do not have to injest so much liquid! Uniquely dissatisfying experience w/ Dr David Alexanian scheduling a colonoscopy 30 days after my first visit where his first diagnosis was related to me with the words "big concern" "hopefully not cancer" "identified swollen areas" AND "this is a priority for me I'll be calling you." FIVE days of not hearing from him I went to UrgCare because of continued unbearable pain, they looked at the area of concern (which Dr Alexanian didn't even do when I met him first time) and like a miracle UrgCare handled the issued the same day I went by just looking at it. I called Dr Alexanian's office that day to be told he's on vacation, he'd call me Monday. Monday his office calls me to say he'll call later and he didn't. Tuesday I waited and nothing. So I called Wed and my concern was addressed with "he's a busy Dr." He called me later to tell me colonoscopy came with 98% healthy results, AND this is after 8 days from colonoscopy and after me already been treated by UrgCare 3 days before, so I stopped him and told him I already knew what I had and a colonoscopy was never needed had he taken a look at the area the day I went to his office. Later, his office sends me 3 different separate bills, and this in addition to the $300 I had already paid the day of colonoscopy (I have PPO ins FYI). When I called to inquire about their close to $2000 bill they said that is my responsibility, so I did share my disagreement on this because he never did his job correctly the first visit and in fact he had me go through a procedure that was not needed and was addressed with such an embarrassing delay after mentioning the word cancer after it was done. Dr Alexanian called me and said he was glad we did the procedure considering what if we would have found something bad with me, and if that was the case we could have treated it.... the same can be said if he had recommended a brain surgery: not needed but what if we find something. He said he will reduce the bill, later I received an updated bill and when I called his office they said Dr. Alexanian had applied a 10% 'low-income' discount. I probably make in 1 year what he'll make in his entire career, and this is how he thinks i should be treated. They said I couldn't just call for results-- I'm scared. Day before March 7th, they cancelled my appointment and said I had to reschedule... for March 27th at 11:30. I get to the office at 11:32 and the door is locked. Apparently they go to lunch at 11:30 and needed me there at 11:15 to check in. Nobody ever communicated this to me. I tend to be a critical consumer, even when it comes to medical care. I have no reluctance to "fire" doctors, etc. However, I have been a patient of Dr. Richard Kuritzkes at Digestive Health Consultants for all of my digestive needs for maybe 20 years. I first met him through a referral for an endoscopy and I remembered him years later when my husband was referred to him by our then GP. He is professional, compassionate, and friendly. He is very good about initiating as well as returning phone calls. I have been very happy with his staff in his office and on the telephone, as well. This office is exceptionally clean and the buidling in which he is located is a comfortable place to visit. I only have rave reviews for Dr. Kuritzkes and his practice.
