Quick and painless procedure - team was great from check, pre op and procedure went smoothly and quick. Great team

While I debated keeping my experience with Dr. Fisher and his staff to myself, I ultimately feel compelled to share it in hopes of sparing others the long and deeply frustrating experience I've had over the past several months. I first came to Dr. Fisher's office in mid-October with a handful of symptoms/issues. An exam was performed on-site, and, instead of discussing the findings or outlining a clear plan, his nurse practitioner simply asked, "Do you want a colonoscopy?"--without explaining whether my symptoms actually warranted such an invasive procedure. Wanting to be cautious and trusting that this would provide clarity, I agreed. On the day of the procedure, I was shocked by Dr. Fisher's bedside manner (or lack thereof). GI issues are inherently uncomfortable and vulnerable to discuss, and he made no effort to create a sense of ease or reassurance. When results came back, he left me a very brief voicemail stating everything looked "fine," with no explanation or context. This was baffling, as I continued to experience clear symptoms/issues--some of which had been observed during my initial exam. When I called back seeking clarification, I was met with irritation rather than concern. Attempting to schedule a follow-up only reinforced the sense that I was an inconvenience rather than a patient seeking care. When I had that follow-up appointment, Dr. Fisher could not get me out of there quick enough. The only marginally helpful recommendation he made over the past several months was for me to take a SIBO breath test, which came back positive with very high hydrogen levels. Unfortunately, any value in that diagnosis was undermined when he prescribed antibiotics costing $3,000 that are not covered by my insurance. What followed was weeks of back-and-forth with his office, repeatedly being told they "knew how to get it covered," then that they didn't, again and again, until I finally pushed hard enough to receive samples from the manufacturer. Seems like that could (and should) have been resolved far earlier. Ultimately, I never received a comprehensive treatment plan from Dr. Fisher, nor did I experience any real proactivity in my care. Despite repeatedly requesting additional testing in the absence of any alternative diagnoses, I am still left without a clear understanding of what caused my initial symptoms or how they should be properly treated. As for Dr. Fisher's staff, they are largely unresponsive and when they do decide to answer the phone, unhelpful. I strongly urge anyone seeking GI care to find another gastroenterologist--one who demonstrates even a baseline level of empathy, communication, and interest in their patients' outcomes. read more

There is no question Dr. Fisher has good bedside manner and is a great physician. The problem is his staff used the line that many doctors use: "He's running late" They COULD have called and said come in 45 minutes later... If you have nothing to do for an hour, I suggest showing up at your appt. time. If you value your time or are responsible to other people, perhaps someone else might do as well. As Gen. After confusion over which procedure Dr. Fisher was to perform and no call-backs from Dr. Fisher or his staff, he finally did call back and explain the results of the endoscopy. He was friendly and concise which is good. read more

This experience, which is totally uncomfortable for the patient, was fine. The nurses are all wonderful. Special shout out to Michael in post-care - he is just so kind and wonderful. His gentle manner was very welcome at a vulnerable time. I would recommend music in the waiting room - everyone's stomachs are grumbling and its so embarrassing knowing what we are all there for. Some music or even a TV would go a long way to alleviate the awkwardness. Also would help with privacy at check in. Would also mask the front desk lady's loud burps. While I understand you guys are doing this 20 times a day, this is nerve wracking for the patients. Music in the pre-op waiting room wouldn't hurt, either. I waited for about an hour and 45 minutes once I was hooked up to the IV and had only the nurses' conversation to keep me occupied as my phone had been put away. Perhaps patients could be offered a magazine or something. Otherwise, staff and everyone were lovely. I met Dr. Fisher for about 20 seconds before I was put to sleep, so not a lot to say there, he seemed nice and prepared a comprehensive report which I appreciated being able to take home with me on the same day. read more

Don't go here , booked an apt for 11:30 , was told to get there at 11:15 . Well I went to the address that was on the old Yelp page and tried to call to let them Know I'd be there by 11:30 , my apt time I show up at 11:30 to a sign on the door saying they are closed for lunch . Who closes when someone has an apt ??? I saw people inside and knocked and was ignored , left messages and no call back . I was charged 50 dollars for them not being there . Don't book here they are a joke , so glad k got a babysitter for nothing !!! read more

Only giving an extra star because of the nurse. Can't remember her name. The Nurse Practitioner was rude. Told me I was constipated and never examined me. Said I don't have cancer. Get blood work and I order a CT scan. What the .... I told her she was a little rude and she said she wasn't. I said from my view she was Love Dr Fisher to bad he wasn't available. read more

This practice is the WORST!! The prep is an antiquated barbaric disaster. Do not go here, I warn you. First the doctor does not see or interview you, and then you end up in the hospital and the entire thing goes wrong because you have be vomiting and crapping all night. BEWARE. I had an upper endoscopy performed by Dr. Fisher around eight years ago (2011); I don't remember much of the procedure, but he seemed to be pleasant and professional at the time. I was recently (October, 2019) referred to his office by my primary care physician for a colonoscopy (welcome to your 50's!). The reception and administrative staff seem pleasant and professional. The main reason for deducting one star was the paperwork; I was given a clipboard with about seven pages to complete, which I found a bit frustrating in this day and age of electronic record-keeping; my primary care physician uses the Phreesia system. Only when I inquired about this was I told that I should have received an invitation to fill in the information online through an email that I never received. Ironically, I did receive the email invite only after providing my email address on the paperwork. Admittedly, I was a bit grumpy and short--due to the paperwork and the prospect of a colonoscopy--upon meeting with Dr. Fisher for my forthcoming procedure, but he maintained a sense of politeness and professionalism. I certainly look forward to getting it out-of-the-way, and feel confident that Dr. Fisher will carry out his duties professionally. read more

I've learned in life that you can't listen to reviews you read online. All my past insurance has been PPO with my current job I chose HMO and my family doctor referred me to Dr. Fisher. First we met at his office during these Covid times and his office was very professional. I had my consultation with Dr. Fisher and he left me feeling great for our upcoming procedure. Since I couldn't shake his hand or fist pump we shook elbows, very nice man. I came in for a gastro procedure. For the past 10 years due to certain foods I choke, get food caught in my throat and throw up. I never knew what was wrong with me till learning from this doctors. It was my second visit to this medical group, my first with Dr. Henry Fisher. From the moment I walked in the door until the moment I Ieft the office, the entire experience was very very good. First, the office is lovely: very clean and bright. Covid safety protocols were being followed with staff masked and social distancing in waiting area. The receptionists were pleasant and efficient. Marta, the nurse, was very friendly and made me feel extra comfortable, confirming the process of obtaining authorizations and follow-up phone calls from the office to schedule necessary exams. Dr. Fisher is soft-spoken with a super nice bedside manner, listening and answering my many questions. He had many good reviews on YELP and I was happy I selected him and I highly recommend him to any potential patient searching for a competent GI doctor. read more

My biggest disappointed started when I first saw the MSN, FNP-C of the office for the colonoscopy consultation. With that being said, she was very dismissive of my health concerns and questions. I was then advised by this professional that I would be having general anesthesia. However when I had my procedure done at Alameda Surgical Center, they either didn't ask or were not informed by the MSN, FNP-C about my request for general anesthesia. I subsequently was only given conscious sedation which made the procedure uncomfortable and painful . Lastly, Dr. Fisher didn't even see me prior to the procedure. Because if I had, would have definitely reminded me about the general anesthesia request for both my colonoscopy and endoscopy. read more

Right off the bat, on looks alone, Dr. Fisher reminded me of a villain from an 80's television show. And unfortunately for me, his bedside manner fit this impression to the T--cold, aloof, smirking, he talked about the dangers of colon cancer like he was reminiscing about an old friend. Leaving his office, I was almost convinced I was about to get into a shootout with his henchmen in the parking lot, Miami Vice-style. His front desk had me schedule an appointment for a colonoscopy before leaving, but I cancelled it a few days later and found a better doctor--no way was I trusting that guy to go up my ass with a machine while I was unconscious. read more

I would give him no stars if I could. Do not give this man your trust, time, or money. He has the worst bedside manner I have ever experienced. He is dismissive, combative, and patronizing. He seems to care very little about getting to the root cause of illness. He quite literally said to us "well, you're not dying. We found stuff. It should have healed". Yes, you read that right. Dr. Fisher has been my gastroenterologist for more than ten years. I consider him to be a first-rate physician and highly recommend him to friends and associates. He has always taken the time to discuss the procedure, address any questions/concerns I might have, and follow-up with post-procedure feedback. I've seen Dr. Fisher over the years, here and there. I honestly can't believe great doctors like him still exist. He truly cares for his patients and take the time to personally call and see if you need to be seen sooner than scheduled if you let the receptionist know that your in severe pain . Too bad this doctor doesn't have a staff that lives up to his reputation. On Jan. 7th, I went in for a visit for an annual colonoscopy, was told then I had to get a referral for the colonoscopy and Alfredo would call me with an appt. Never got the call. On Jan. 14th, I received a call from the surgical center trying to give me instructions for my procedure scheduled for the next day. Explained I didn't have a procedure scheduled. They called Dr. Fisher's office and I then received several phone calls from Jenny and Monica. They scheduled my appt. for Feb. 8th at 1:45. Told me I had to have blood work and EKG and they would call me. Didn't again. Finally called SCAN insurance. They proceeded to lie about everything I said....including that I even had another appt. for Feb. 8th. am asking my cell phone company for the records of Jan. 14th to prove the surgical center did have me scheduled for the 15th, and also the phone calls from Jenny and Monica. The way this office is run is pathetic. And they will lie right to your face to protect themselves. They all need replaced or this doctor with a good reputation will not have it for long. read more
