I worked with this organization, and it was a horrible experience. After our initial interview, there was minimal contact as they don't answer their phone messages. Sarah told me that they responded to emails, yet I didn't get much response at all from my emails either. Also, they are not trainers as they have college students 'train' the dogs, yet Sarah geys a salary. My communication, or lack thereof, definitely worsened my condition, and frankly, I don't think they really care about people with disabilities. I finally received $5k of the $8,500 paid, just to get away from their organization and work with a reputable one. I have never written a negative review on anyone before, but I felt this was definitely needed to spare others. read more

I am a client of Diggity Dogs, and I have felt cared for, empowered, and excited every step of the way. I chose to work with Diggity Dogs because because the organization seems to understand BOTH the complexity of disability AND the complexity of animals--Diggity Dogs actively respects the lives of both members of a service-dog partnership. Diggity Dogs understands the variety of issues that come with neurological disabilities and chronic illness, and the director has an incredible creativity about how a service dog can help. They are also committed to educating clients on how to help their service dog--how to understand dog intelligence and sociality. I am so thankful to leave nearby (most people getting service dogs have to work with training centers across the country). Diggity Dogs has cultivated a warm and understanding community that I love being a part of. I also get to see all of their positive training methods in action--and watching dogs learn English and learn to enjoy being calm (and loads of other things) is amazing. It's also so cool to watch the dogs learn from each other--and the human trainers learn from each other too! The organization is new and growing fast, so there are organizational hiccups here and there, but nothing that has affected my positive experience. Terrible organization. Usually, when you train service dogs, you must put them through rigorous temperament tests to see which dogs are fit for service work. The owner often gets free puppies and tries to force them all to pass as "service dogs" and sells people these untrained dogs at a ridiculous price. The dogs I saw were in poor health, she never disclosed where she purchased or received the dogs. I had a hard time even getting medical records from her. I have seen her "service dogs" during classes show aggression towards other dogs and towards people as well. When I mentioned this to her, the owner just shrugged it off... One of the most interesting things she did was allow one of her desk volunteers to put a service dog vest on their personal dog to enter into public spaces, restaurants, and fly for free. The volunteer's personal dog was not in-training to be a service dog and never had any training to be a service dog. I feel as though this is fraud.... The owner has no idea what she is doing, she is not a certified trainer. I asked, and the owner replied that she has only taken one real training class herself and has a degree in web design. Diggity Dogs has no paid staff or employees except for the owner!!! The owner is trying to train 10-15 "service dogs" per class with a bunch of well-intentioned but clueless volunteer college students. I have to mention that none of these college students have ever taken a service dog training class themselves, outside of Diggity Dogs, or are certified to train service dogs. The owner learns and trains her volunteer college students through youtube videos. A real service dog trainer takes on one dog at a time...It is serious and incredibly difficult work to train a service dog! I would never qualify Diggity Dogs Service Dogs as real service dogs, this is a scam to sell "service dogs". read more

I found Diggity online and ended up taking dog (and myself) in for a week long intensive training course over a year ago and it has been a wonderful experience. I was so impressed with the organization and its mission that after doing the intensive training week, I began volunteering. Since then, I have seen how the dogs trained by this organization have changed lives; saved them, even. The training center is such a positive place to be; there is constant laughter, encouragement and praise for both the dogs and the people as they all train and play and learn together. For this reason I continue to be involved. I can't say enough good things about the organization. Full disclosure, after a year of training with my dog and volunteering at the training center, I now consider, Sarah, the executive director a close friend. I have worked closely with her during this past year and she has been truly devoted to me and my pup, who really adores her as well. There is a reason why the people involved (clients, fosters, volunteers) are so devoted and keep coming back to Diggity, and it is that Diggity is just as devoted to them as they are to Diggity. I feel so lucky to have come across this organization and I look forward to a long involvement. read more

I wish it were a better experience. But it was a terrible experience for me working with Diggity Dogs and Sarah that caused my disability to get immensely worse for a long time. I tried working with Sarah at Diggity Dogs to train my own service dog about a year ago. She was donated $1,000+ from my family and friends to train my dog. She made many promises to me that she didn't keep. She promised to get sponsors to help pay for the rest of my dog's training and to use some of the donated money to help me with gas for the car. She said that she would work with my disability and come out to my house to help train my dog if need be. None of that happened. I don't know why she treated me the way she did but the only reason I can think of is because I couldn't do one thing she asked. My disability worsened in some ways and I couldn't finish training logs for her but sent her many videos of my service dog in training's progress everyone month even though I was required to only send her one video a month. She claims to be understanding to disabilities. However, she lent me no understanding whatsoever. Instead of offering another way to work with her instead of writing logs, which was impossible for me to do with my disability, she stopped talking to me for a whole month. I send countless emails, Facebook messages, and calls. She avoided all of my calls. She didn't even tell me why. She told me to work with another trainer on the side but wouldn't lend any of the money she was already given for my dog's training even though I am only on SSI. She tried to ask me if I wanted to continue training months later after she avoided me for a month while I struggled with a puppy in training. But at that point I was too betrayed and hurt by her. Diggity Dogs may work for some, but for me it was a terrible experience and I never got the $1,000 back that my family donated for my dog's training even though she only saw me twice. Now, after struggling on my own for almost two years I trained my dog on my own and get constant compliments on how well behaved he is. He knows seven tasks and has already saved my life more than once. He is so smart that he learned his first task at eleven weeks old and has been my best friend ever since. He already is a wonderful service dog even though he is not even two years old. I am amazed with him. He goes everywhere with me and is a perfect gentleman. My advice? I wouldn't work with this trainer. You can risk it if you'd like. Perhaps you'll have a better experience than I did. I wish it had worked like in my fantasies where the trainer was really nice to me and I had support throughout the service dog training process. But, personally since I only saw Sarah twice and she avoided me for a whole month and still ran away with $1,000 dollars, I wouldn't work with this organization. EVER. You'd be better of looking up how to train a Service Dog on youtube and going through CGC, Advanced CGC, and Urban CGC at Petco for way less. And then doing the rest of the training on your own including task work if you can. Not everyone can train their own dog on their own. But I did and surprised myself. And he is the best Service Dog, better than I ever could have dreamed. Good luck! I hope all of you receive the service dogs of your dreams! Never give up because getting better is possible with time! My service dog changed my life. Keep at it and you will get through it and find the perfect way to have a Service Dog.
