This review is strictly regarding the selling process at this location. I arrived 15m after opening & was quoted a 35-45m wait if I stay in-store. (The terms for drop off are not something I would agree to. There is another review here that explains it well). I shopped, tried items on, and then waited & waited. The restroom is out of order, so you have to notify the staff if you have to step out so they don't change you to a "drop off." I returned & noticed my two bags were under the counter. I asked the staff member who checked me in if that meant they had or hadn't been reviewed yet. She said it meant they had & kept working. I waited near the front for another 10m & watched them not touch my bags (I wasn't sure if there was another step in their process). At this point, I had been waiting 1h & 45m for the text notifying me that my offer was ready. I walked back up to the counter & only then did the same employee ask if I had received my text. I had not & my stuff had been ready. An absolute waste of at least an hour of my time. Funny that a text from them asking me to rate my visit came through in less than an hour after I left.

I was merely perusing Uptown to see if I could find sneakers for my 40th class reunion in 2 weeks. I have something old, myself something borrowed which would be cheapskate and something new, not blue which would be the new shirt from Temu. I saw several sneakers that matches the shirt I would wear but they were all over $50. I have something old, myself something borrowed which would be cheapskate and something new, not blue which would be the new shirt from Temu. I saw several sneakers that matches the shirt I would wear but they were all over $50. I say To myself, they are all over $50 but where in the hell can I get a new pair Jordans for $50. These sneakers are in good condition. This is not necessary a store I would shop at. With this being said, I came, I saw and I might be back. I was greeted at the door but knew exactly what I wanted sneakers, sneakers and more sneakers. I did not buy but I scoped out the joint. It was very interesting for my 15 minutes of good find!

First time here and it was fantastic!!! I know I am a bit late to the game because many people were in the store today, and I have seen several Yelp friends talking about this place. There are so many options for my teenage daughter, my husband and myself. Sometimes it can be difficult to find clothing options for myself as I am plus size and most places only have a limited selection. I found items that were stylish and fit! We paid $73 for designer jeans for my husband, multiple number of blouses for my daughter, and 4 kimonos and a pair of shorts for myself. We will definitely be back.

I'm a curious gal, so I hopped on over and what I found was the most delightful, treasure-filled adventure I could've asked for! I love the thrill of the hunt (even though sometimes I don't even know what it is I'm looking for!)...and if you can't get enough of old stuff, vintage stuff, funky stuff, rusty stuff...this is your mecca! Located in a huge old warehouse, and only open the first weekend of every month, you will find what you were looking for and more! The building itself has such charm, how could it not hold such wonderful curiosities within? I've visited Cool Stuff Vintage a few times now. The contents are constantly changing, but always something you just have to have! How do these people know? I think its because they are collectors themselves. Just a sampling of what I saw during my last trip this month...60's/70's lunchboxes...a small cardboard doll house w/tiny plastic people & furnishings, maybe from the 50's...vintage fabric galore...a huge heavy outdoor bar set I would give my eye teeth for if I had could afford it and had a place to put it! Cool vintage Tupperware...Elvis posters...not to mention some colorful groovy plastic 70's chairs...good ol rusty valves and antique doorknobs...lovely real leather messenger bags, used just enough for that "broken in" feeling and look...I could go on and on! The variety of men's items is significantly smaller (I get it- most men wear socks far past the first sign of a hole) but there is a great selection of women's apparel and accessories. What I enjoyed most of all was my interaction with the woman running the store today. Abby was not only attentive to where I was in the store and what i might need help with (offered to pull items out of the glass display case when she noticed me drooling over a gorgeous pair of Chanel earrings) but she also got to know me! I really appreciate that she took her time to build a relationship with me while I was in the store. It's employees like Abby that turn one-time-shoppers into customers and customers into regulars. Can't wait to visit again, bring friends, and leave fully confident I definitely needed those Chanel earrings.

Although Atlanta has some good boutiques, some of my favorite shops are right in this strip of stores. While from the street you may think that Violet is a pretty, bohemian boutique, don't let the merchandising fool you. I am an avid shopper and this store carries numerous items that I have seen on overstock.com, at outlets, and on designer sample sale websites. I am not sure how this store stocks lines like Hudson and AG with only a few styles. I have worked in the fashion industry and know that you must purchase a wide range of the line in order to sell it, not just 1 or 2 styles. One of my favorite lines ever is Calypso St. Barth. The beautiful dresses and scarves are to die for. Too bad that at Violet, everything is way past season (some pieces I've noticed were from 2006) and super marked up. I saw a super cute blue dress with a ruffle from Calypso but tried it on and the fit was off. I also thought it was something I had seen last season. I got curious so I called the company, who informed me that the dress I saw at Violet was an irregular that was only sold at the outlet in 2009 for $39! The retail price on the dress in Violet, right now, is $218!!!!!!!!!!!! They have never once sold to Violet and the Calypso representative also informed me that this wasn't the first call she had received and their attorneys were looking into the situation. I was appalled. Not matter how cute a store is, or how nice someone seems, you never know. To me, that discredits the whole boutique. It's greedy, it is deceiving to customers and it is simply unethical. I don't care how pretty the store looks from the outside (or inside). I refuse to support someone who is not playing the retail game fairly.

I made my way down to Park St. today on lunch break today after being referred by a local when I mentioned seeking out thrift stores in the area... well please note, Violet has nothing to do with thrift stores and neither frankly, does the 5 points neighborhood it's situated in but that doesn't matter. What matters is this boutique was just what I needed. It's only been two days and I was feeling completely like a fish out of water until I wandered in here and started chatting it up with Texie (the owner) who made feel totally at home. She even made up a little list for me of all the local great food spots! But on to the goods... Texie carries a little of everything.. amazing clothing lines, jewelry lines (erica weiner, and my new fave- Sage), handbags, freaking awesome candles... and tons more. She really packs it in but be glad she does- all items are clearly thoughtfully and tastefully chosen. Coming from the Bay Area, with a plethora of local indie boutiques, I was still surprised by a couple of lines I had never seen before. Needless to say after only 20 minutes I walked out with less money, but in much better spirits. I scored an amazing new fragrance that I know I won't run into on anyone else (a incredibly yummy & nostalgic smelling body oil by Sage with notes of incense, amber, & coconut, kind of reminds me of high school!) and a sweet yet practical pair of fresh water pearl drop earrings.. nothing like retail therapy to beat the "I'm stuck in Florida for two months" blues! Though my wallet won't appreciate it, I will most certainly be back in the very near future.
