I needed to stop today to pick up a couple of things for a visit while I am here. I came to the store. It was greeted by a fantastic sales person at the very beginning of the day. She had a fantastic attitude was very helpful was thoughtful. She was quick and efficient with her help and helped me make my purchases and transaction quickly. I very much appreciated her. The store was clean, easy to access and I was glad that I came to this store. I have shopped here in the past, but it's been many years and I'm happy to see that it is still as fantastic as always. I would add kudos to the sales person. She told me she's been at the store for about 20 or 21 years and she's been with Dillards even a little bit longer than that so good for her. The selection was great. The prices were good. I got sale prices on everything and I will come back again if I need to and have the opportunity. read more

Went to try some Aerin perfumes so I found them by myself & opened a tester. One I was able to spray on my wrist & the other was missing a the mister/sprayer. I went to find an employee who could help me & saw 2 females in the Estée Lauder section. One pointed to the other to help me. I told her what was missing so she checked in the cabinet & only found one $150 unopened bottle & no testers. She said that was the last one. I asked if she had a smaller bottle & she was curt with me saying that was THE LAST ONE! Excuse me...can you be more courteous as you ARE in Customer Service?! I asked if she had a smaller bottle of the first perfume and told her I think I like the 2nd one better. She said it's so popular which is why it's sold out. She did proceed to tell me the notes on the perfumes & comparisons. I then asked if she could check La Cantera for the smaller sizes. She was able to & how many they had. I asked if I could charge it here & pick it up there but she thought about it & I said "Or do I need to order it online?" She nodded & said "Yeah." I told her I only shop here once a year so I didn't know? I said okay, thanks & left. No wonder I don't shop there. I prefer Nordstrom Associates & their Customer Service. read more

We "popped" in here to pick up an order that my wife had. The idea of going to Northstar mall during Christmas time was very frightening to me, but I have to admit I found the visit to Dillard's department store overall very pleasant. There is so much in this store! I did not realize that they have a James Avery store, for instance, on the first floor of Dillard's. We picked up my wife's makeup order and were in and out pretty quickly, but along the way, I was impressed with the amend merchandise and the people that were working. Went to the Chanel makeup counter while getting ready to go through to the mall. Area, the lady stopped me was really friendly and she showed me the new chanel call splendid and gave me a sample that was very nice and I didn't even have to ask. read more

Cynthia who works in the jewelry section noticed I was standing & waiting & quickly approached me & asked if I'd been helped I let her know I was waiting on a manager to remedy an issue. And she followed up to assure my problem was being addressed & then chatted with me for a wee bit. SO NICE TO SEE IN THE YOUNGER GENERATION. Not great, not bad. Dillards North Star always has something on sale. During this visit Liz was on the hunt for slacks. She also found some pants and a shirt for me. We came during the week. So, no Xmas, New Year's, or anything rush. It wasn't dead, but was comfortably quiet, I could walk around without tripping over people or merchandise. Contemporary music was on and jammin the good times. Everybody was nice, and greeted me. The place was clean and in order. Exits to parking and to other parts of North Star were available in various parts of the store. Good vibes here today. read more

I drove from the La Cantera area because they have a better shoe collection but I'll never set foot in that department again. I made a loop of the entire shoe department looking for chocolate brown shoes and not ONE salesperson greeted me, but greeted everyone around me. People will say "Oh, well, they were busy on a Saturday," but two salespeople asked other customers standing near me if they needed help but ignored me. One woman looked me in the eye after asking a woman nearby and completely disregarded my presence. Another guy asked a couple near me if they needed help and, once again, I was ignored. That same man only asked if I needed help once he heard me talking to the manager. I voiced my disgust at the way I was treated. She agreed that it was unacceptable. I don't know that anything will be done, but I don't recommend this Dillards if you're a person of color who wears sweats to go shopping. read more

Dillard's - North Star. I like Dillard's a lot, but I had not been in one since prior to the pandemic. We had a charity event coming up and my wife felt like she needed to find a new dress for the event. So off we went to Dillard's. We got great parking right in front of the entrance and walked right in. Upon entering the store, I noticed a couple of things. First, no shoppers were in the store. Secondly, inventory of all products was very low. Lastly, employees were everywhere just standing around. I followed my wife to the area she wanted to shop in and found we had no competition for previewing all the items. Unfortunately, there was not much to preview. On top of that, all the help we noticed didn't seem to be interested in finding out what we wanted. In fact, not one single person acknowledged that we even existed. After about 15 minutes of that, we decided to go to another Dillard's. Will I return? I don't know. I don't know if this is the result of the pandemic, if it's the help being hired, or poor decision making by Dillard's corporate, but it seems they are trying to get the consumer to buy online because they sure aren't interested in helping a customer that was in the store ready to buy. Buying online has turned out to be much more fun than going into a store and being ignored. read more

Not to be confused with Dullards, which are most humans, really. Northstar is an insanely busy mall in San Antonio where almost everyone seems to go. La Cantera is much more relaxing and spacious but North Star is the Dillard destination, because this is where the big Dillard's is, and it's basically an enormous department store that is sort of like Macy's and JC Penney's, but a little bit less well-known and a little bit cheaper for some things but generally very comparable, and that is a long sentence amirite. read more

I made a trip out to Dillards North Star for a specific item, and while I didn't find it, the staff and manager of the shoe department made me a super satisfied customer. Right now, they are having their clearance sale, and it is so crowded and confusing. The shoe department does look like a bomb exploded, but they are helpful. They seem to have a larger selection than the Ingram location. I can't say the same for the jewelry section. I was super disappointed. I always feel uncomfortable carrying jewelry around to other counters but there literally was no one to help me. I can't imagine what the holidays will be like! Yikes. read more

From the moment I walked in I had people greet me and asked me what I was shopping for. I was quickly directed to the department I was looking for and greeted by department. I told her what I wanted and she found me at the pants to try on and several tops available to find me different sizes as needed. Because I did not have to get dressed after every few outfits, I found more things to buy! There was a LOT of merchandise to choose from as well! This was a COMPLETELY different experience than I had at the Dillards at La Cantera and Ingram! Two to three weeks ago I bought two pair of jean and a top at La Cantera. I found a salesperson and asked for more/similar items and was told sorry. I went to Ingram a week later and found no help or suggestions. I'll give North Store another try in a few weeks. read more

I can't tell if Dillards at Northstar Mall doesn't like Mexicans or doesn't like husbands. Today just about an hour before closing time I completed purchasing some shirts in the men's department in the first floor. I then went to the 2nd floor and looked around the entire 2nd floor for my wife (she forgot her cell phone at home by accident) with no luck. Then I went to the 3rd floor to look for her - again with no luck. So I went back down to the 2nd floor to the women's department by the 3-story parking garage and asked the cashier to page my wife, where she said she did not know how to do that so she walked me to the cashier in the middle of the store. She asked the older cashier if she could page my wife, the 2nd cashier said that I needed to go to the 4th floor to customer service to make this request. Then I went to the jewelry department to look for the older ladies who I thought might care for their customers. Here the jewelry lady did call the 4th floor and spoke to customer service for me and did request a page for my wife. About 5 minutes later I asked the same jewelry lady to request a page again because they never announced the page on the loudspeaker. The jewelry lady did call customer service the 2nd time and still nothing. So she walked me to the much older lady who was the department manager. She spoke to me in Spanish and I waited until she finished and I replied that I don't speak Spanish and to repeat what she said to me, which she did. She said to go talk to the James Avery Jewelry department because they were the boss of the store. So I did walk to the James Avery department where I requested a page for my wife -so she did call customer service and did ask for a page then they told her that the store does not do this - which she relayed to me. Then I walked downstairs to the 1st-floor men's department to Adam - the man that I originally paid for my clothes. Again I requested a page for the 6th time, the 6th time!! He did call customer service and they told him that I needed to walk to the 4th-floor customer service to request a page. I said that I did not want to walk to the 4th floor to do this because I was already so tired because I was already walking around for about 30 minutes. That's when the older lady cashier stepped in, I asked her for the name of the store manager, and her answer was that the store manager had already left for the day. I then repeated myself again by asking the same question - what was the manager's name? She reluctantly but finally gave me the manager's name. Then I said that the store would have done the page if I was a small child or if I was a white person. She then understood that I was serious. She then seemed to care and she walked to the men's Polo department where a manager named Beatrice did come to me in the men's department. She did listen to my request and asked my wife's name I said, Susan. I said to say on the announcement, Susan your husband is lost so please come to the men's department. She said there might be more than one Susan in the store and I said that if there was then they would know they are not missing their husband. Beatrice asked for my wife's last name but I didn't want to give it to her because I knew my wife would be embarrassed by this. But Beatrice would not do the page unless I did give her last name - so I finally did. The manager easily did pick up the phone and made the page. And about 2 minutes later my wife did come down and find me. I will never step foot in this Dillards again because I was treated like an alien. Disgusted to say the least ... my boyfriend went into the store to buy a shirt for my birthday yesterday (5/22/21) around 4:00 and was discriminated against. He is a darker Mexican man who was buying a polo shirt for around $75 and pulled out a $100 and was told they don't accept $100's?????? I'm sorry but I worked at American Eagle at this very mall for almost FIVE years and we ALWAYS took big bills????? We had to check every bill (which is expected) and would refuse the purchase if they were counterfeits obviously. But never once did we tell people we don't accept big bills? All she had to do was check it with the machine or marker. After this (pale faced lady) told him that, he told her "yeah ya'll do, just check it or do what you need to do but it's real" and she proceeded to look at him ugly then put it up against the light and finally gave him his change... It's sad to say the least that racism is still well and alive in 2021, but this is just one of millions of examples people go through every day. Please let this women go, there is no need for someone who is like that to be working retail!!!!!!!!!!! I wonder how many other people she was rude/racist to... I worked two retail jobs that were completely different companies as a cashier and know that somewhere on the receipt is the person who did the transaction so I know you can figure out who it was from the receipt. read more

I go to the mall almost never. But I remembered once having a good experience shopping for socks for my size 14 feet and decided to see if lightening could strike twice. Sure enough the English lass who is a customer service dynamo in the men's big and tall section was up to the task. Her level of customer service is rare but highly appreciated. And believe it or not, despite my dashing looks, it wasn't just me. As I was browsing, I heard her give the same level of service to every shop weary gentleman that found her section of this four story megashopolis. I only wish that I had secured a name to properly credit her service. Thank you Dillard's and I hope that you compensate her well. read more

A fair warning . If you shop here, it's all sales are final. I bought a dress shirt and the next day I tried to return it and they rejected it. Even with my recipe. It's was looked at and viewed by two associates like some North Korean guards. They're reason there was a spec of dirt on it and it looked worn. I told the sales associate, "Isn't that what you do to clothes? You wear it?" The sales associate rejected and didn't granted the exchange like some flea market vendor or a sake from off the street. Came to Dillard's to get a suit but wasn't sure on what I wanted. I was looking around when Sam came to help and his service was extraordinary. He was busy but never stopped helping me. Even when I came back to pick up my suit he spotted me and came quickly over remembering my name, while also being quick to go get the suit and make sure it came out to my liking. Would recommend anyone to go and get help from Sam. This company should be very proud on the service and experience Sam has continued to provide to their guests. read more

I do not think you need a MBA to understand business and when it is a good time to make a sale. I have been wanting this Jones of New York leather jacket that costs $199 at Dillard's. I noticed the same jacket costs $150 on the Jones of New York website, not including the free shipping. So, I thought with the state of our economy I could get the jacket for $150. So, I walked into a nearly dead store on the Thursday night, went to the coat department, found the jacket and tried it on to admire myself in the mirror. I do look good in leather, especially in my leather knee length boots and sweater dress. A sales associate approached me and asked if I needed help. I told her my intentions and the price of the jacket on the Jones of New York website, she mentioned she was not sure if I could get that big of a discount, but she will contact her manager to see. As we were talking the manager walks into the scene. The request was made and her response??? We cannot do it and the reason why the Jones of New York website has the jacket cheaper is they want you to buy directly from them. ???????????? Am I missing something here? So Dillard's would rather for me to buy the jacket from Jones of New York and lose a sale? Interesting. Did I mention that she suggested I go try Macy's? The world has absolutely gone mad! This particular Dillards strikes me as a bit odd and dark. Perhaps it's the location. It is surrounded by parking garages and the men's department is downstair. It is at the very end of the mall on the east side, where the mall's foot traffic is the least. It's the department store the furthest away from the food court by a long shot. I am surprised after over 30 years, that it is still around. At any rate, yes you must go ALL the way down the bottom floor for men's. If you are in the garage, then you have hit rock bottom and are in the men's. It feels like a dungeon or basement access. They have some pretty decent purse selections(I must follow my significant other into this forbidden territory). They even have a "used" section for purses. Sometimes you can find LV here in this slightly used area. I don't really buy a whole lot here but I try to walk to this end from the other end just to get the exercise and see if there are any super deals. read more

I always hate the service at Dillard's but yet I still return. I really need to stop even going on here. The staff always seems to think they're better than anyone that walks in their doors and they're always always always too busy chatting away with each other to care about their paying patrons. Bad customer service is one of my biggest pet peeves. Having worked in customer service for as long as I can remember, I have zero tolerance for bad service. What happened to greeting people when they come in the door, asking if they need assistance, being ready to provide a dressing room instead of having a customer hunt you down and a simple smile and thank you when a customer pays? Perhaps I'm asking too much. Apparently Dillard's doesn't have those standards. It's never any different at any of their other locations so honestly I'll blame corporate for the lack of training. Pretty average. Nothing stands out about this store. I much prefer the La Cantera location due to the larger selection and better organization. The staff is friendly in general however. You're sure to find something decent if you don't mind having to search a little. Usually this location gets really crowded, as does the rest of the mall, during the weekends so be ready to deal with the swarms of people. read more

Where did all of the sales clerks go? We went here on a weeknight to pick up a men's dress shirt. Although there were two people working the area, neither of them bothered to help us find a particular size or style. If they are going to sell $150 shirts, they should have someone working to help find sizes, etc. The bad service probably has doubly affected my bad opinion of the store, but it is also over-crowded with merchandise. My boyfriend and I have never been treated so rudely in our entire life!! He's 6'7 so since Dillard's has a "BIG & tall" section, we figured we could find him some pants there.. WRONG! It shouldn't be called a "BIG & tall" section at all! There were NO tall sizes, only BIG! I asked an older short, heavy set, man with salt pepper hair if they had any 38x40L pant sizes. He looked at me and said "mam, you're an idiot that size doesn't exist." I showed him the tag size on my boyfriend's pants, he looked at us and said "well, your boyfriend is a freak of nature, that size still doesn't exist." He was SO RUDE!! He shouldn't be allowed to work in that area if he seriously thinks a 6'7 tall man is a freak of nature. If you are 6 feet or taller, DO NOT SHOP HERE!!! They are RUDE and discriminate against tall people. Shop across the street at Joseph's, the owner is so sweet and will even go out of his way to order a special size for you. read more

Package pickup wait time is ridiculous down near the dock. They leave it unmanned and your waiting in the humid heat. At these prices you don't expect to wait for over 15 minutes for someone to answer the bell. The man was very nice but you don't leave him alone to run pickups in the store and no one else there to answer the bell. I called the store number from my cell and the operator said no one else was only avail. It's obvious it's a two person job, you don't have no one available to answer. I made my China dept purchase on the 4th floor, it was heavy to carry all thru mall. read more

Went to buy some new bikinis, when picking out the ones i wanted to try on, an elder lady who was working in that section that day told me she would start a room for me. After I tried on my bikinis, the same elder lady came and snatched them out of my hands and told me that she'd put them by the register. I wasn't very happy about her snatching it out of my hand. I told her I wanted to bring it downstairs to meet a friend of mine and continue to shop in other parts of the store, but she refused to give them to me and demanded me to tell my friend to come upstairs instead. So i left the register and went to another register, and talked to another nice woman about this incident, she told me that this elder lady has done this a few times and other customers don't appreciate her. The nice woman and I confronted the elder lady, and she kept trying to give some kind of attitude and admitting that she snatched it out of my hand without an apology. I will be calling in a few days to talk to the manager of the store (not the manager of the floor) If you want customers, don't have rude people working for your store. I do want to say thank you to the nice woman who helped me out with this rude elderly lady. read more

Dillards at North Star Mall is a large deparment store at any large mall. There is no wow factor about much of the store. The quality of the items they sell is great, but the pricing can sometimes throw you off, especially if you are in a rush and do not have time/ energy/ effort to look through all the sales racks (and finding the sales racks is a challenge at times). I often come here to do a once over and see if anything is on sale during the end of the season. Otherwise, my most compulsive spending in on Origin products, which I use and love. I was glad to see that they had them here, and that I did not have to make a trip to La Cantera to refill. In all of my interactions with employees, they have been nothing short of pleasant and helpful. read more

I went here to go Christmas shopping and i sadly did not find anything that caught my attention because their sales weren't great sales. I was walking out the store and while walking out the manager and 2 armed police officers had stopped me and publicly embarrassed me in front of everyone in the mall, and accuse me of stealing two pairs of underwear. They checked me without having the right to do so, and made me empty my pockets in front of everyone and my bag. The public humiliation was absolutely horrifying. I am a Mexican girl who is only 20 and has no need to steal underwear. I myself work at a bank and have no need to steal and this has never been so embarrassing. I felt ashamed and threatened. The police officers had armed weapons for 2 underwear? this was racially profiled by a worker here who was elderly and caucasian, since that matters now even though we're in the year 2022. I would never shop here again. I did not know dillards was a racist and scary place to shop at! I would never recommend any one here again if you are ever lightly colored. They will stop you and publicly humiliate you and make you feel unsafe incense you leave the store. After they checked me they realized they were in the wrong and no apologies or anything for that fact! NEVER SHOP HERE AGAIN! read more

Do not go here if you need ANY help! I called them multiple times to be transferred to the juniors department. Either they would transfer me to a different department who wouldn't help me or nobody answered in the department I needed. I called two other Dillard's and had the same problem. I even called the customer service number online TWICE. The first time I got hung up on. The second time that person transferred me to the wrong department after I had told him what happened and what department I needed to be transferred to. I understand if it was one store but three and the customer service. I won't be shopping at Dillard's anymore. Nordstrom is much more helpful. read more

When I wanted to purchase a Lancome foundation, I inquired whether it could be returned. The sales clerk offered me a sample and said I could use it instead of the new bottle so I could get a return on the new bottle if I didn't like it. Today I returned the new bottle of foundation because I didn't like the way it (the sample) went on my skin. The same clerk who sold it to me, Argie, told me it could not be returned. I argued with her and said she was the one who sold it to me and said I would be able to return it if it was not opened. She checked with another person (maybe a co-worker friend?) and the return was accepted. Personally, I will stay away from the Dillard's make up counter. read more
