The men's clothing selection is a disgrace. I was shopping for a nice shirt but everything they had was in XXL or larger it seemed. I spent well over forty five minutes looking for shirts but could only find two that actually fit me. I wear a large, so it shouldn't have been so difficult. I asked an employee about it and was told they get what they are shipped, and it seemed like that's all they were ever shipped. Speaking of employees, it seemed like they were everywhere. Other than that the place was deserted. I did listen to them absently while I tried to find something in my size. It was entertaining as they were all just standing around loudly talking smack about customers they have had. I am not sure how this place has managed to stay in business but I don't expect it will remain in business much longer. read more

It's still good to see a Dillard's open (& thriving, at that) as most I have seen have closed. We did not do any shopping here, but passing through to the mall the store was plentiful stocked and appeared to have some really nice, high quality merchandise for sale. It really took me back to the 90's when stores like this were thriving, so I was happy to see it pretty much the same way as I remembered it. read more

I unfortunately had a very unpleasant experience with a Dillards employee a few months ago. I didnt want to say anything or get anyone in trouble, but the incident was obviously bad enough that it's still bothering me several months after the fact. Before I moved to Albuquerque, I used to work at a jewelry counter in the Santa Fe Place Mall, and one day, a lady stormed in and dumped a bunch of receipts on my counter. I know her name was Jodeanne, because she was wearing a Dillards nametag. She was loudly complaining that now she "only" had half of her lunch break left, as if it was my fault that she chose to do a complex return during her lunch. I resented her whining even more, since I didn't even get a lunch break that day! I can only describe her attitude as "aggressively privileged". When I went through the mountain of receipts that she had rudely thrown all over my desk, she snatched one out of my hand and started shrieking at the top of her lungs. Obviously, I needed a receipt in order to process her return. She should have just handed me the one relevant receipt, instead emptying the contents of her purse and making a mess of my work station. She had no reason to cause a scene. The whole incident was unnerving and bizarre. And, again, she was in uniform and wearing her Dillard's nametag, but that's how she chose to represent the company. I was also appalled by how impolite she was to me and my coworkers, considering that she's just another cashier like us. You'd think a fellow retail employee at the mall would have some empathy for how difficult it can be, but apparently not. A few weeks later, I went shopping at Dillards to buy a gift for my boyfriend. Guess who was at the jewelry counter? None other than scream queen Jodeanne! I recognized her immediately, but I gave her a chance to redeem herself. I asked to see some watches, but she was not very knowledgeable about the products, and the presentation was very nervous, awkward, and off putting. When she failed to close a sale, she clumsily offered the rewards program, but I declined, because our professional relationship was already strained and tense. I wonder how she would like it if I had given her a taste of her own medicine, and started yelling, berating, and embarrassing her in public? But I have the maturity to treat people with dignity in the workplace, even if their customer service skills are mediocre at best. Jodeanne needs to learn how to treat others the way she wants to be treated. Long story short, I don't think it's appropriate for employees to disrespect other mall workers, ESPECIALLY not while in uniform and nametags. It reflects poorly on the individual, the store, and the mall as a whole. read more

Tried to do a simple return and then buy more things. Something that should have been a single simple transaction ended up involving 6 people, 5 receipts, 4 gift cards and one of the poor employees spent some of their own money to get the gift card, what?! Not sure what is going on here but your systems are largely broken. Just return peoples money to their credit card vs the weird gift card system. Allow multiple gift cards if you do keep that system. Empower your employees to do simple things on the computer and fix your hardware. Multiple machines were broken. All of this just because someone wasn't at the baby clothing register. Some staff were really pleasant and others were swearing at their own employees and hardware. Definitely not going back. read more

This Dillards is hit a nd miss. The men's dept is very nice and they have great sales! The service in this dept is by far the best. The other depts require hunting down a sales person. Small store with limited selections. The worst dept in the Santa Fe store is Plus Size. The buyers should be turned in to the fashion police. Horrible large print cheap nylon clothing. What happened to the nice brands they used to carry ? That includes Ralph Lauren. There is alot of money in Santa Fe! How about some quality! If I wanted cheaply made hideous clothing I could go to Walmart or Kohl,s. Actually some of Kohl,s clothing is nicer than this crap. Dillard's is one of my favorite department stores left, but this location was so sad. First of all, it's very small, so the selection and brand choices is limited. Second, it's in a mall that has nothing left to it. A very depressing environment. Third, the interior hasn't been remodeled in quite a while, so there are some strange design choices for sure. That said, the customer service I did receive was perfectly acceptable. Maybe I came at the right time when the associates were free, but I didn't have to look for anyone, ever. They came to me, and only assisted if I asked them to. Your mileage may vary, of course. I hope they can survive attached to that deserted mall, though, because I'm sure the residents of Santa Fe don't want to have to go all the way to ABQ every time they need an article of clothing or a new sheet set. read more

I've shopped at Dillards for special occasion clothing and other specific items, for years. Yesterday 03/29/14, we were doing something outside and afterwards - around 5pm or thereabouts - I stopped in to the mall on the way home to redeem a certificate which was almost expired at another store. I was just wearing dark jeans and a relaxed black t-shirt - no jewelry or anything - so I looked pretty much like "plain folks". Holding the bag from the other store, I thought I would go into Dillards to see about a new purse... The sales ladies behaved normally, but then a creepy-looking dude came sidling up and parked himself by a counter to stare at me while I browsed the purses. He had very short light brown hair, blue eyes with a glazed look, and his pants were pulled halfway down his butt and then belted in that position. I thought he was just some perv but then I saw his badge and realized he was security. He actually thought I was going to steal something and put it in the shopping bag, just because I wasn't dressed up! That much might be excusable, but he used zero discretion: instead of watching me furtively like even the dumbest security guard would do, he just basically hovered there as though I were a known criminal. I've never been treated like that in a store in my whole life. I left Dillards without buying a thing (none of the purses were that hot anyway) and I will never set foot in there again. read more

I went in to look at some makeup at the Mac counter. These two whatever you want to call these workers ,completely ignored me.. she was too busy packing her face with more makeup! I have to laugh, these women look like drag queens.. their faces are so packed with makeup and they obviously think they are cute! No you are not. You look redicoulas if anything . Gross, I'll shop in Denver instead, the women there has much more class and customer service is top notch. Santa Fe is ghetto! read more

I shop here once in a while mainly due to the terrible customer service. I was proved right once again. While making a purchase in the shoe department this morning. I was purchasing a pair of Uggs which were well over $200 for a gift. The associates were busy deciding whether or not to give me a flyer for a $500 dollar shopping spree. After they decided to give me the flyer I kindly declined. Upon declining their flyer one of the associates said "fuckin bitch" in Spanish which I also speak. Normally I expect the worst of always being followed by the security guard but never did I expect to be referred to in this manner. I will never return to this place they don't even deserve one star. I have renewed faith in customer service at Dillard's. I told the first retail chick I saw that I wanted my dress steamed and before I could finish my sentence she said "of course". Walking into the store I was prepared to use their steamer (on a dress I purchased in Albuquerque and I didn't have time to wait for them to steam). While she steamed I went to the Lancôme counter. The beautifully souled woman applied foundation and GAVE me a 10 trial sample. As I walked out two men were cleaning the windows. Who ever the manager is, kudos to you. Your staff is working. I went into this location with the intent to purchase a coupe long sleeve men's shirts as it is winter and my type of work has me in and out of the building all day. I was at first helped by a super nice gal, told what I was looking for she pointed out some great options and I really didn't lock onto anything she suggested another area of Menswesr and I went to look. This is where I was "confronted" by "Alex" who saw my shirt with my company name and I was also still wearing my nametag, he proceeded to regurgitate his problems he had with a service problem at my business(even though I do not know this man or of any issues, nor is it my dept), I tried to listen and engage because I deal with matters of unhappy guest no matter the dept I work in while looking at clothes, he not only followed me in a confrontational manor as if trying to head me off, but never offered any assistance, when I finally realized he was not letting go I asked for his name a offered to resolve the problem once at work with more information, he told me he gave the truck back to the bank(repo) and continued to berate me about my business and how he tells all his friends not to do business with us. I have never had such unprofessional behavior taken upon me, I immediately went to JC Penny to resolve my business and highly doubt I will ever set foot in ANY Dillards dept store . read more

This Dillard's has a great men's department and the staff is helpful to help you find the right tie for a shirt and measure for the hem on pants. I really like the shoe department as they have great affordable shoes and high quality I always find a dress when I need to . I love the Ivanka Trump collection and impressed with Dillard's that they serve their customers instead of succumbing to political pressure. February 27, 2019 I went in today to return some sheets I had bought the day before. I went in today during their extra 40% off sale & happened to notice that the sheets I had bought yesterday were an extra 40% off, so I purchased them again since the savings would be substantial, and I went home to get the other sheets I had bought so that I could return them right away thus giving someone else the chance to buy them since they were going fast. However, when I returned them the checker in the home department seemed very annoyed because I was returning them, she seemed like she was mad and had a hateful attitude. It made me feel like I did something wrong. This is not the first time this happens with the checkers at Dillards. When I've made returns in the petite women's section I have gotten this same attitude and a long face as if she's doing you a favor from one of the checkers there, also in the cosmetic department there was one girl there that seemed like she was irritated and also with an attitude. They make you feel like it's coming out of their own pocket. My guess is I understand if they meet a certain quota they get extra pay, but when there are returns they are docked. They should not take it out on the customers. These experiences have made me not want to shop at Dillards in Santa Fe anymore. I will go to Dillards in Albuquerque instead, since they also have a much better selection in the petite department, and I have never experienced this rudeness. Hopefully one of the managers will see this, they should know. I'm sure I'm not the only one that has experienced this. read more
