I attended a Friday night session of BollyX dance class for free as part of a Brooklyn Fit series…read more I'm a dancer at heart but mostly in the salsa genre where I can "shake what my mama gave me" without hesitation. Though I was new to the Bollywood style of dancing, I loved every minute of class! It was a non-stop, head-to-toe workout, that left you wanting more even if you were wiped out. The instructor was high energy and the playlist was so fun. We danced about 5-6 songs and were instructed to follow our teacher's steps. Warning to those who haven't been to a dance class, the steps aren't broken down into segments. It's more of a watch and get right into the steps all at once. The class ended with a 5 minute ab series in sync with the music and a cool down. Classes are typically $15 for a drop in and they have a full schedule of classes ranging from ballet to Africand dance. I'll definitely be back for more!

Ms Jasmine was nice and caring and gave bandages for her wound. Today we found out a small piece of wood still left in her front calf. This concerns us. I wrote an email to notice the manager about the dance floor being old and having some cracks and hope they can do something to fix the floor. I do not wish this happens to any kids again. It's been a day and I haven't got a reply yet

Keeping in mind how tough it is to wrangle a roomful of tots, the dance instructor was impressive in her focus and engagement, laying the foundation of a classic ballet experience. Music included some of the childhood classic tunes we all know by heart, as well as classical piano standards and even a lovely instrumental version of "Here Comes the Sun." Even when a few of the children began to become distracted, our instructor managed to ramp up the interest level with ribbons and participatory exercises. Getting just one kid to pay attention is a big enough challenge, so I was in awe to see what a pro could do. Immediately, we felt like we had been welcomed into a little community. All the staff members we encountered were friendly and helpful, which I especially appreciate in such a chaotic situation as a herd of families arriving and a little bewildered. My only wish is that the space were larger, but otherwise this is a wonderful neighborhood dance school. Well done!

I've been extremely pleased with both the adult and the children's classes/programs. My three year old has loads of fun in her afterschool program with ballet, tap and hip hop. I enjoy adult ballet and modern. I've only been in classes a few months but I've improved tremendously due to the supportive friendly environment. No more knee pain! Adult classes are truly a bargain taught by current and former professionals, the owner Lakey was with Alvin Ailey. You get a ton of personal attention and the routines are modified to your abilities.

Many children in my daughters' 3 year old 1st year tap/ballet class complained they were yelled at often by the instructor. More than anything, though, the owners were so awful and rude to the parents during photo day and dance rehearsal for the recital it was truly one of the most unprofessional and chaotic displays of poor customer service I have ever witnessed and had the misfortune to personally experience. I would recommend any serious dancer or anyone with interest in a school that CARES about the students go to Vicky Simegiatos Performing Arts Center.

She is currently…read moreworking on a solo work Despina Simegiatos and it's only been a few weeks, but the choreography is absolutely beautiful and they always win first overall at competitions with their Power Pak team, which Despina choreographs as well. Our daughter loves all the teachers, especially Samantha whom she started with when she was in Kindergarten. The Nutcracker performance that the children dance in is such a special opportunity for them to experience dancing at a professional level with NY City Ballet performers and it's truly a magical show. We're proud to support this family run business where the students are treated like part of the family.
