It was slow season and we were the only ones he had to pick up so it's best to do this trip mid-late Sept, great weather too. Make sure you bring cash to tip driver And tour guides! I thought they were one in the same but not. Our tour guide for Lower canyon was a nice young girl (forgot name) and she was AMAZING! Our tour guide for the Upper canyon was Not so nice, Irene, was very military style and ZERO customer service. She is an older lady that shouldn't be working these tours. My husband tipped her and she didn't even say thank you!! Like she wanted more.

We took the 90 minute Scenic Dam Cruise. Our boat was Emma, with Captain Elaine (who also did the…read morenarration) and Lee was our First Mate. We really enjoyed Captain Elaine's narration and we learned so much. This tour is strictly a journey to the Glen Canyon Dam to get you up close and back. Most of the journey is in a no wake zone, that's why it takes 90 minutes. The canyon you travel through is beautiful and quiet. The boat is basic. The main level is enclosed and air conditioned and has comfortable seats. There is a restroom on board. They provide complimentary water and lemonade but I did not have any. The second/top level is open and standing only - no seats. While you can see everything from the first level, we enjoyed being on the top to really see all the views unobstructed. There isn't any shade on the top level so be sure to have sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat. Again, most of the trip is at no wake speed but there were a few spots where we went about 10 mph. It was sunny, no clouds, no wind and about 75 degrees during our 10:30 AM tour. You check in for the tour inside Lake Powell Resort. They take you down to the marina in extended golf carts. That was great because it would have been a long walk down and a very steep walk back. After the tour we enjoyed a coffee and pastry from the Wind Coffee Cafe.

For those hard of hearing, they wouldn't have been able to hear at all. A naturalist on deck explaining the history, sites, etc. would have been much more informative and interactive. How hard would it have been to have someone with a microphone pointing out sites and answering questions?? The scenery was lovely, but we were disappointed with the lack of narration. There wasn't much of it, and what was said couldn't be heard anyway.

We really wanted to avoid the antelope canyon experience after hearing about the reviews upon research. We did the hiking tour. Jose took his time walking us through and telling us about the history of the Navajo tribe and surrounding areas. He also pointed out different characteristics of stone/rock we saw in the canyons. This is one of the slot canyon tours available near Page. It is a totally different experience…read morethan the Antelope canyon tours. This one is longer, a lot less crowded and more open in most places. Garret led us through and answered questions and told us about things. Really looked out for his clients. There are a couple of tight spots and a bunch of stairs at the end, but for the most part pretty doable. There's a fair amount of walking on sand, so be prepared for that. Antelope is deeper and I think a bit more dramatic, but they are pushing through thousands of people a day. For a similar experience with no crowd, you can come here.

A lot of beauty to admire at the canyon, and really nice stories to be heard and shared. The tour guide did state multiple times that we can take our time. He also created a demo micro slot canyon before our eyes. All the drivers were very nice. Here are some things to note though: -The check in process was confusing the day we went. We kept getting asked if we checked in. Initially we weren't greeted by anyone. Then a very pretty lady helped get us started with signing a paper waiver. -In my opinion, we actually had a large group, a bit over 20 people if I recall correctly. However, it wasn't overwhelming. -We separated into taking a wagon and small bus to the slot canyon. There were two different groups. Getting back to the destination spot was split into a bus, an older suburban, and a UTV. Not sure if the wagon ever came back. -We were the last tour group of the day. -They have portable potties near parking grounds, but is about a 8-20 min transportation dependent on type of vehicle and how fast you are from the slot canyon. -Definitely don't want someone who has mobility issues or have discomfort while walking coming to this trip! -No videos

I learned of Grand Staircase Discovery Tours in September 2015 when I saw photographs posted on the…read moreGrand Staircase-Escalante National Monument Facebook page. I got in touch with the individual who posted the photos and was given the contact info for the above company. I inquired about a potential trip for March 2016 and was given different options. I also made contact with other companies doing the similar tours, in the end I decided to go with Grand Staircase Discovery Tours. The main tour which I wanted was White Pocket. I advised the potential date in March and Chris Chalmers (the owner) penciled this. I also inquired about South Coyote Buttes and Chris gave me the steps on applying for a permit. I did get the permit for South Coyote Buttes and the trip was built around it. The cost for the different tours were discussed and confirmed. As we got closer to our trip, Chris emailed and called several times to finetune our trip. We are now back in Bakersfield. We ended up taking 3 trips with them. Rob Wulff was our guide. Rob was the ultimate guide, soft spoken and knowledgeable about the area including the geology. Rob was extremely helpful specially on our first trip which was an overnight stay at White Pocket. The weather was not cooperative with the wind blowing 40-45 mph. Rob made it as comfortable as he can given the conditions. He showed us the good spots photograph and also made sure as a group (5) we were constantly watched over for our safety. During our hikes, Rob made sure the pace was right for everyone. The cost of their tours were comparable if not less than the other tour companies. Their service was great. Their attention to the details was impeccable. We will be back for more tours with Chris. Highly recommended.

Had a great time on our ATV excursion with Page Adventure. The day we had scheduled for our tour…read morewas unseasonably cold so I would recommend being aware of the weather and dressing accordingly. The ATVs are very open and you drive fast enough to get up a good wind. I would suggest a neck gaiter to protect your mouth and nose from dust, although it was MUCH less dusty and dirty than I expected. I wore my grungiest clothes and shoes expecting to be covered in red AZ dirt but we were very clean at the end. I brought along a cheap throw blanket and gloves and was very glad to have them. Helmets and goggles were provided and required. The ATVs are very clean and great condition. They were mostly two seaters so my husband drove and I was a passenger. It would be useful to have at least limited knowledge of manual shifting, but there was no clutch and the guides (Brian and Eli) did a great job of explaining the controls and stopping or signaling when we needed to change gears. We did have to drive across actual highways a couple times so be prepared for that. We drove through some beautiful country and had a great time visiting Horseshoe bend. There were a couple stopping points where Brian described the area and gave us some history and geology lessons. The guides were great at taking pictures and took some great group photos for us. I highly recommend Page Adventure! It was a great time and a great way to see Horseshoe Bend and the area surrounding.
