I took a while to write this review but I was a new client, came in for my 8am appt and when I tried to tell the girl S what I would like and my goal look it just seemed rushed, like she didn't want to look at the pictures I had in mind and didn't want to spend time on the consult ( which is important) when ur working on someone's hair. I'm was trying to go blonde after months of being quarantined and grown. 5 hrs later " she was done" after bleaching my hair I was exactly as dark as how I walked!! You can imagine how pi**ed I was after 5 hrs. Bleaching and damaging my hair, about to pay $300 for work that looked exactly how I walked in!! So when I told her this was not what I wanted thennnn she wanted to look at my pictures and listen to what I wanted. I'm honestly not a bi***y person, I even waited 8 months after this service to see if I would end up liking what she did in me but I never ended up liking my hair. I actually hatedddd it all their time and couldn't even look at it anymore so I dyed it back to dark dark color to cover up what she did. DEAR OWNER PLEASE SPEAK WITH UR GIRLS IN TERMS OF LISTENING AND DOING A PROPER CONSULT. Wow! This place is seriously amazing. The staff is nice and the place is beautiful. They saved my day! ;) I called at 9am to ask if they had an opening for makeup that morning and they said YES to come in at 10am. Great - walked in they greeted me and complimented my boots (thanks). I had a hair appointment at another place (which was further away) and they asked if I needed my hair blow dried after my make up (saved the day again!) I have to say, it was seriously the best hair wash I ever had those seats recline and the scalp massage was OH-SO-GOOD! Outcome: make up is gorgeous and hair is flawless. Walked in and was welcomed by the staff. They all were so friendly and welcoming, I had scheduled for a mini makeup. This was cool the only thing is that you have to mention if you want eyes ( includes lashes, mascara, concealer) or another option, I think this option is cool! I'm not much of a makeup junky so have concealer, lashes and eye shadow are sufficient for me. A women by the name of Dina (THEE-DINA)did my makeup and she was so nice and knew what she was doing. I stumbled upon DKM one day in Hoboken. Convenient for me, I was also looking for someone to do my wedding make-up. I made an appointment for a consult. I arrived at the store a half hour early and had to wait for Dina to finish up a spray tan. I got a chance to explore her store, so much makeup, jewelery, and other goodies! Gorgeous store! Dina did a great job on my make-up at the trial, so I booked her for my wedding. She is super nice and professional, and has so much drive and passion! That was so refreshing, because I was expecting the same attitiude you would find at the MAC counter, or a snobby salon! I had ended up going back a few weeks later for a spraytan. She did an awesome job (by hand). Well worth the $25! Fast forward to the wedding. She traveled to the salon where we were getting our hair done, and had another cosmetologist with her (I had 12 people that needed makeup). She arrived early, giving her plenty of time to set up. She and her assistant did a fabulous job! Even the photog and hairdressers afterward were raving about how good she was, and how professional she was! And at the end she gave me a lipgloss and mascara from her makeup line! And the makeup stayed on and looked gorgeous all night! Love her and can't say enough great things about her! Unfortunately, I now want to have my make-up done all the time, like I'm a "Real Housewife of Orange County" or something. It's not like going to a typical salon that is loud and overpacked with overworked stylist who are rushing to fit all their clients in. They sinks have massage chairs that allow you to take a deep breathe and relax for 5 mins while getting your hair shampooed and conditioned or longer depending on your process the massage chairs and music give it a spa but upbeat quality. The decor is beautiful and the location is great. They offer packages and a point system making their services extremely affordable. Dina took my spray tan cherry, and let's just say, she was very gentle. She provided the necessary accoutrement, hair net, disposable skivvies, and the all important foot stickies. She warned me when it was going to be VERY cold and offered encouragement along the way. The result was a natural glow. No orange tint. No streaks or blotches. I had a 4:45PM appointment with Dina on a Sunday evening. She finished up her prior appointment not long after I walked in. I was in need on a gel manicure and I saw on the Hoboken Girl FB page that Dina Kiss and Makeup was offering $20 gel manicure as a special. The phrase "You get what you pay for" couldn't be more true in this instance. Although the staff were all extremely friendly and polite I walked out with the WORST manicure I have ever received from a salon. After soaking off my previous gel, the manicurist then used an electric tool to remove the rest of the gel where she also hit my skin/cuticles in the process causing several of my fingers to bleed. After this she went right to painting my nails, never filing or priming prior to putting on the new gel. read more

I recently attended a makeup lesson at DKM and Dina was great! I learned some new tips and got to sample some of her great products. I didn't plan to buy anything but last minute decided that I needed a new blush. To make sure the blush was the right shade, I sampled a custom made foundation and Dina applied the blush over it. I loved the blush and I was surprised by how much I loved the foundation. I've tried a lot of foundations, Laura Mercier being fave until DKM. At $19, I think it's a really good price for a custom foundation and I think it will last for at least 3 months or more. I needed a place to get my makeup done for my cousin's wedding last weekend. Dina's had great reviews on Yelp, so I figured I'd give it a shot, and I was not disappointed! I made my appointment online. There was a little bit of a scheduling mishap because I never received a confirmation. When I got to her studio for my appointment, she had no idea I was coming! She handled the little hiccup extremely professionally, and took me right away. I didn't feel rushed and she did not make me feel uncomfortable because of the scheduling mishap, as some places might have done. Her studio is located in a great space and I love the sign above her door that says "Watch your noggin," before you enter and walk down the steps. I was nervous about the appointment because I have never had my makeup done professionally and I did not know what to expect. Plus, I had to rush home and get dressed immediately after my appointment, so there really was no room or time for mistakes. Dina put me at ease, making me feel completely comfortable. She asked me what I was wearing and a couple other questions to make sure that my look matched what I was trying to go for. She did a beautiful job! The makeup held up the whole night and I got tons of compliments on how I looked. Another great perk: she gave me a lip gloss as a complimentary first time customer gift, and also made a follow up call two days later to thank me for coming in! Dina is awesome and Hoboken is very lucky to have her and her shop. I met Dina years ago and had my makeup done for a TV pilot I was in. She did an incredible job, it was my first experience with air brush makeup. It held up all day under all those sweltering lights. Over the years I have seen Dina for makeup advice, to buy her products, and to get spray tans...that look amazing BTW. Recently I got married and Dina did my makeup and my whole bridal party's makeup. We all looked great. I went for a trial run beforehand and couldn't believe the transformation. Are you serious?? Why not? I don't have to take time away from work, I don't have to worry about getting home so late after spending all day in work and then hours in a salon AND I get to go to work looking fabulous! Next, I meet Dina, and from minute one it felt like I was visiting a friend. We chatted the entire time I was there. She got right to my hair asking exactly what I was looking for. She managed to eye the color and match it PERFECTLY to my natural hair color. After rinsing the color out she dried a section just to make sure that it blended perfectly before she started my cut. Now the cut, I told her that I wanted to keep the length and only get rid of the dead ends. Unlike other hairdressers, she did EXACTLY what I asked and didn't take off any extra, explaining that she loves keeping the length for long hair. My experience was so amazing that before this appointment was over, I was showing her the color that I want when I come for my next appointment in October! I've gotten almost every service Dina offers (eye lashes, full makeup, double process bleaching, hair cut, olaplex treatment and spray tan) and use a lot of her makeup and skincare products. I can tell you right now, she's amazing. I always leave feeling amazing and well taken care of. She's attentive and really listens to what you want but will also warn you if what you want is going to be too unhealthy for your hair or won't look the way you think it will.
