We come into town once a year for a big family reunion and Diner 31 is our last stop before we head home. Again, a year later Queen Elizabeth is still here with warm welcoming smiles and Z is here doing a great job as well. The kitchen staff is amazing and although very short staffed, the team worked effectively and diligently to ensure our food was perfect and our time spent with them is memorable. Be sure to stop in and say hello while supporting locals! They rely heavily on tourism in the summer and delivering the best service possible! Always remember to continue to be kind to one another. Until next year Diner 31!! Keep up the GREAT work!

The food was really good. The grilled chicken was some of the best I've tasted for wraps. It had a nice flavor and was very filling. It's got an older vibe to the place and you self seat. It is smaller so it could be hard to find a table during rush hour. Definitely would go back.

Simple but delicious fare. Great coffee and service! We are here for a week and will return again tomorrow. The waitress is a sweet and sleeps your coffee cup full.

A nice quaint place. Very clean and open feeling. I loved the decorations and signage! I have a small compliant. I have no issue with places changing their menus. However if you went through the effort to print the menu, then please update your online menu. I cane here to try the Monte Cristo. However it's no longer on the menu! Instead I ordered a BLT ($10). It was a very good sandwich! It wasn't a Monte though! The service was excellent, with jokes included free of charge. Overall a 4 star review. Would I return? If I lived in the area, then yes. It seems like a consistently good place. Since I don't live in area and would probably only be passing through, probably not. I'd probably try somewhere else.

After nearly two years in the area, we stopped for breakfast this morning. Overall, a very good experience. Diner 31 is a typical greasy spoon/breakfast joint. I had the Big Breakfast and my wife had the cinnamon roll pancakes (special). My eggs and hash browns were cooked perfectly. Service was fast and friendly, even with a full restaurant. read more

Excellent breakfast and service. While the place was super busy our waitress brought juice and took our order. Food was delivered hot and lots of it. Very defiantly all homemade with thick slices of ham and home fries. read more

I am so happy to have stumbled upon this place!! We stay near Onekama, and we've been on the hunt for a satisfying breakfast joint and I think we've found it!! The menu is big and has so many fun options, but what REALLY brought me here to yelp was the customer service. I haven't been waited on so kindly in a long time!!! Enjoyed a delicious San Diego Eggs Benedict while my son tried to get through the big breakfast. It's hard for an 18yo athlete to tap out but he did. So much food but he is leaving here filled up and happy. Thanks to the crew for another great Diner 31 breakfast. See you soon!! read more

Great atmosphere, feels like home. Staff are wonderful, they are very friendly and welcoming, and very knowledgeable about the menu. The menu is great the food and drinks choices are great. I would recommend this place to anyone. Very clean as well. I would recommend the Diner 31 omelet also, it's so delicious and so much food on your plate. And anything with the sausage gravy is amazing delicious. read more

We were happy when we got there it was a cute little spot. It was so busy that we acted as hosts seating people. Food was bland and there was a lot of hidden charges that made breakfast fairly expensive. Sadly, We won't go back read more

I ate here before the world went on lockdown for covid.... This is a great place for breakfast. It's also a place in town where locals go who know where to get a good breakfast. Service is great and fast. The only reason I'm deducting a star is because the country Benedict dish I got was definitely overpriced at $11. That should've been $8 to be what I consider fair for what was received. My husband loved his food, which I can't specifically remember what he ordered, I'll just learn from my experience and not order from the Benedict section of the menu when I next visit. All the other items seemed reasonable. read more

The best place in town for a hearty breakfast. Food is delicious and the service is outstanding. They don't mess around with those tiny cups of coffee. You get a huge mug and refills if you need them. As busy as it was with every table full, the wait staff was attentive and friendly. Food came out of the kitchen quickly. Love this place! read more

You must go here for breakfast, it is outstanding!! The most friendliest people who make everyone feel special and go out of their way to get your order just right with very reasonable prices. And did I say it was delicious? Yum, we were in town for 3 days and had breakfast there each morning and each morning it was wonderful. On the third and last day we were given hugs and wished a safe journey as if we were part of their family. We highly recommend this restaurant, a real restaurant for real people! read more

A great ambience and beautiful location for this diner. I and my family had a good time and the staff is courteous and friendly. Food was served in a timely fashion and the food is very tasty. My husband and oldest son stayed to finish their breakfast as I sat in the car with the youngest. The waitress (who was fantastic throughout the service) went to the back and apparently talked to the owner. My husband said she looked a bit like she was upset when she came back 5-8 mins later. Apparently she couldn't take it off the bill because the owner wasn't having it. Very strange, but whatever, my husband paid it. My husband went to tip the server a bit more than he had initially taken out and she said "no, you don't have to do that." But she was great and deserved a tip. As a business owner myself, the owner sounds like a jerk who has zero concept of good service. If a customer doesn't like something, you fix it and you don't treat your employees rudely either. I couldn't imagine treating my customers that way. Also, invest in some seasonings and lay off the hash browns. Fix your food and your attitude. And play some music in there or something.

My friend ordered the 4 piece bbq chicken with fries, coleslaw and a roll. The wait wasn't long. 10-15 minutes if that. My chicken fried steak was good. The cheesey hasbrowns were worth the extra charge! And I don't usually like coleslaw but this was great! My friend sure did enjoy his chicken! I sat at the bar and as recommended by a local, I ordered the pepper jack crab soup, which was delicious. One thing to be aware of: don't expect real crab in the soup. Imitation only. But it's plentiful and delicious on a frigid winter day. The bartender recommended the roasted chicken or the perch, and living near another great lake and always having ready access to perch, I decided on the broasted chicken. I was not disappointed. It came with four pieces, choice, potato, and a choice of another side. It was way too its food, but I ate more than I thought they would because it was that good. I will definitely return to the painted lady!

It had the standard toppings--avocado, corn, black bean, tomato, tortilla chips. But the cheese was melted on top, like a kind of crunchy/chewey plate--it really looked like it was topped with a mini pizza. Not sure that enhanced the salad, but overall it was fine. Instead of dressing, it came with tubs of sour cream and salsa to mix in. I do that at home sometimes, so can't complain. The lettuce was fresh and crispy. Decent beer selection, including a quite a few bottled ones, which I hadn't noticed until after I ordered my pint of Two Hearted. Be sure to ask for a bottle menu. I sat at the bar and the server regularly looked in on me. Wasn't too noisy, in spite of the tight space that was full when I stopped in on a Sunday night. Nice little spot to check out in Manistee.

My daughter got the most amazing toast with homemade jam and not being much of a carb guy, I ended up getting one of two extra orders at our table of just toast! There is no question is this all made with quality, local ingredients but also with a lot of care and love. It's emulates from the waitresses and their attitudes towards everyone. It's always super awesome to have the chef himself pop by the table - which Jared did. They seem to draw people in with their bakery items (homemade breads and desserts) and the toast WAS really good. The rest of our breakfast wasn't fancy, but was solid for the area. Not sure it's worth the slightly premium pricing, but the vibes were good, the waitstaff was attentive, and Jared stopped by our table to make sure all was well. We'll go back for breakfast if we want something a bit nicer than we'd make at home...
