This review is for the new Indian place bar opened up. There was an old place before that wasn't good . I love Indian food and have been to many places in nyc. On Long Island , Hicksville is the place to go if you want to get some good Indian food, so this was a pleasant surprise. I rider the usual. Cicken Tilka Masala. Veggie rice. And some peas. With a bottle of water it came out to $15. Which is not unreasonable. For 9.95 you get the meal with white rice and no water. And the meals come with a huge Nan. For years, the food court at Roosevelt Field Mall was called the Zeppelin for some odd reason and there used to be a giant airship replica built above the food stalls in the middle of the food court. Why they named it after a German blimp is beyond me. Now after the 2015 renovation and renaming of the food court to the Dining District, many new food offerings were added to many of the original food purveyors. Some of the old ones we've always ordered from like Charley's Cheesesteaks, Wendy's and Sarku Japan have been carried over with completely new stalls. Meanwhile, many new food options like Wahlburgers, Taste of India and Chick-Fil-A, among others have been added. I do miss the old Ben's Deli with their split pea soup & pastrami sandwiches and Johnny Rockets with their diner burgers though. Holdovers like Asian Chow and Sarku still go around passing out samples of teriyaki chicken and bourbon chicken on toothpicks just like the old days. Our favorite from back then until now has always been Sarku with their teppanyaki grilled teriyaki chicken over rice. They know how to rope you in after you try a sample. Whether you're shopping in the mall or catching a movie and you get the hangry pangs, you hustle on over to the Dining District. They will have what you crave! read more

I'm still excited about the new Dining District and its potential, but as of right now I have to say they are still working out the kinks with new staff learning the ropes and some food consistency issues. Perhaps these issues are less during the day, but going there during a weeknight I noticed a few of the vendors have food that has been sitting a while which lessens the quality of the product. I hope these issues can be worked out in the meantime be aware that the district is still a bit of a work in progress. read more

Everyone kept telling me to go to Roosevelt Field simply for the new dining district. I do my best to stay away from this mall since it's so large and crowded but I did need to check out a few stores so while I was there, I decided to try out the new food options. The food court used to be in the center of the second floor, now it's still on the second floor but pushed off to the side. There are a ton of new options to choose from. Food ranging from mac and cheese to Japanese to brick oven pizza to vegetarian to baked potatoes to Thai and then back to the typical food court favorites such as Wendy's. The signage doesn't help much with how to find it but CS was nice enough to show me where to go and also gave me a few coupons to use. I ended up going with Maoz Vegetarian because I wanted a falafel. The food here is delicious and fresh, definitely a step up from the former food court. It's also brightly-lit with a big outdoor seating area. The outdoor spot has heating lamps for cool days and shade for warmer ones. RF (the Simon Group, really) did a great job with this overhaul! read more

this could also be called a mall food court but lets not... love the name and it has its own dedicated entrance so you do not have to walk through the mall to get there plus you will see some lovely outside eating to enjoy the seating choices are plentiful including round tables I kid you not its been written that round tables make for a more harmonious and happy dining experience in your home(yes I do indeed have a round table in my home) ...so glad the choice is here too booths and yes even a few couches the ceiling is super high the whole space feels so open and bright even at night big bright signs easy to read menus each restaurant / food place has its own feel I would go here just to eat so far my favorite is Melt Shop with the many choices it will keep everyone happy dine on what you like while dining together I am not writing reviews for the restaurants ...just the atmosphere and I like it read more

Before discussing food, the appearance of Roosevelt Field's food court is an outstanding upgrade. It's much more spacious, clean, and doesn't have the fried smelly of the archaic food court. There is also an outdoor seating area with plentiful space. The area is no longer a congested hub of shoppers trying to cut through the center of the meal along with hungry patrons scouting out seating. In regards to food, we tried Potopia and Maoz Vegeterian. Both were a refreshing and slightly more healthy imprecations of fast food. At the former, we tried a spicy shrimp potato bowl. It was a dish I'd never expect to find at the old food court. At the latter, we tried a falafel bowl with other beans, herbs, and vegetables. All in all, the new dining district provides an all-around better experience for eating at Roosevelt field. read more

Review for Potatotopia: my fries took a longggg time to come. My BF was half Finished with his meal by the time I got to our table. The person who put on my toppings had a bitch face and didn't give me an answer when I asked her what something was. Cashier was on her phone... Good food, a little pricey, but still delicious. This is different from the NYC location... Maybe because it's in a mall. OMG I wasn't even finished eating but I thought I was eating mushrooms but it was CARDBOARD. I haven't been to the Roosevelt field mall in a long time, and was used to the old, crummy food court food of my high school years. The food from Taste of India, the new Indian place that opened in the Dining District, blew me away. The chicken tikka was tender and packed with flavor. The basmati rice was perfectly cooked and not at all mushy. The palak paneer was stewed perfectly and was full of paneer. The free naan was huge! When I'm back at the mall, this will be my go-to. Hell of an overhaul here! Though I don't frequent Roosey Field that much anymore, I do remember one thing, never go to the food court. It was a festival of fast food with a lack of seating. Enter the Dining District. Although not completed yet, most vendors are in and you already see the improvement; clean, plenty of seating, vast selection of eats (including healthy choices/trendy eats). Can't beat that! Huge improvement over the previous food court. Everything from the layout, the seating, the food choices, architecture, all the way down to the many Charging Stations (for those who need a little extra juice in their phone or planning to stick around to update their blog) make this new Dining District enjoyable. They have plenty of food options and even outdoor seating for when it's nice out. Definitely recommend for one of those days out shopping and you don't want to go to a neighboring restaurant. read more

Considering what the food court looked like and offered in the past, this place did a complete 180. First and foremost, the space is huge and very accommodating space/seat-wise. Good-bye cramped seating in the rotund food court and hello spacious tables/chairs, high tables... you get the deal. The new Dining District (which I think is a fun, inviting name) is bright, cheery and offers PLENTY more options than was used to be. I haven't had the time to try ALL the vendors, but from the few I've visited... all good experiences. The Little Beet, Melt Shop, Tres Carnes and MOAZ are highly recommended. Skip, the Wendy's people. Expand your horizons! Lots of trendy eats, popular chains and even some healthy options! When I'm shopping in RF mall, I can look forward to a decent meal now. Pota-topia is an amazing new potato concept that takes a chop't chipotle approach on potatoes. You can pick the style of potato (French fries, mash potatoes or red potatoes) you can add on vegetables meat and bacon of course.... great place to try and will definitely need more in the tristate area! read more

I didn't mind the old round-about food court that Roosevelt Field had, but I have to say that I'm thrilled with this new dining district!!! Very updated with TV screens for the menus (which flash back and forth between the menu and pictures of food options), and new ADDITIONAL seating (even some booths! more importantly no waiting for your group to split up and see who finds a seat first...ugh). I LOVE that many NYC food venues opened up such as 'the melt shop', 'tres carnes' and 'potatotopia.' I am mostly familiar with the melt shop, so I can rave about how amazing their grilled cheeses are (the 3 or so I've tried from there- I love the bacon one)!! Again, tots are a must. I think this new dining district will bring not only people who are looking to shop, but also people who are just meeting up for lunch/dinner as well. I went to the Thai place, had chicken pad Thai, it was delicious. Went to Maoz Vegeterian, it was amazing, had the whole wheat falafel sandwich, u get to chose your own toppings. No side salad or any other sides are needed, the sandwich is very filling and it's excellent. I wish there were one in my hometown, love this place. read more

The new dining district is a huge step up from the old food court. I had been to Tres Carnes a few times in Manhattan so I was excited very excited to see they opened one up at the mall. After a long day of shopping on Presidents day I was very happy to be able to get my favorite smoked brisket burrito! And I was not disappointed, the food quality is still amazing and everything is always served with a smile. I will definitely be eating there any time I am at the mall. read more

This new area is beautiful. They did a really good job with this redesign. I love how they got some soft couch is for you to sit on and you don't feel like you're on top of other people when you're sitting at the tables. I like the new restaurants that came in. But I worry about how this is going to be at Christmas. I think there may not be enough room for everyone and then people are going to fight people. read more

Tried this place with my youngest son. The falafel salad was amazing. You choose what toppings you want. I tried all the toppings except the carrot salad. It was so filling! The veggies were super fresh and instead of avocado I asked for babaganosh which was also amazing. My son had a juice with kale, lemon, spinach and apple juice and it was excellent! The garlic sauce dressing was so good. The tahini sauce was delicious too! read more

Tres Carnes is now at Roosevelt Mall dining area. I had the brisket and Pork tacos, yum. The meat was made to perfection! The options for toppings were amazing, love pickled onions, as well as the sides. My friend and I also ordered the tortilla lime chicken and avacado soup which was oh so good. The staff was extremely nice and helpful, they also gave us a HOT berry Apple cider drink that was perfect for the freezing temps outside yesterday. All in all, I'd say that Tres Carnes gave a hometown Arizona girl a taste of home that she had missed:) read more

I was at Roosevelt Field Saturday night as we were on the wait list for dinner at Maggiano's (in the parking lot of the mall) and as the wait was two hours we decided to visit the mall - which has many stores I like. I was in the Apple Store when this incident occured, clear at the other end of the mall when literally hundreds of people stampeded into the Apple store at once... (along with others - visable through Apple's all glass front- running into other nearby stores) I was sure (as were many others) that this was a terrorist strike and we needed to find safety. Apple is as far away from the "Dining District" (as RF calls their food court) as you can get... in fact -it's on a totally different level. YET the event in the food court caused mass panic across the mall- that wasn't reported here. Most of us in the Apple Store (trying to get into the back store room) were thinking the exact same thing. It's the world we live in folks -and that has nothing to do with the brawl that actually occurred . People saw people running which caused more people to run and by the time this wave reached the other end of the mall... it looked as if the mall was being attacked. I must say as a side note - the staff at the Apple store was totally unprepared for this occurance ... they refused to let anyone into the store room (presumably a safe place to hide) as they made it clear the Apple merchandise was of more importance than the safety of the customers/browsers in the store. The manager was clueless as to any safety lockdown procedures in case of an attack. After too long a time we were shown an exit to a dark alley outside the mall via the Apple Store (unsure of what happened or if this was a safe exit)... and the manager finally was telling a worker to lock the doors to the store and shut the gates. If this had been an actual attack (which at that end of the mall it looked like) we'd all be toast in the Apple store. read more

LOVE LOVE LOVE the new Food Court at Roosevelt Field. Some of the restaurants from the old food court carried over including my fave Johnny Rockets! Today I wanted to give one the healthier selections a chance. 1st choice: Maoz vegetarian, was VERY crowded to my surprise but I was on break and in a rush! So I crossed over to this place called The Little Beet. Was instantly drawn in by the catchy name. Good news: I wasn't stuck with ONLY veggies, you can choose from a vary of proteins! And everything is Gluten Free...Double Score! The food was great and I tried Cauliflower for the first time and loved it. Not So Good News: Despite all of the energy being radiated from other new brands (Tres Carnes, Melt shop, Charley's cheese steaks) the energy seemed gloomy. My cashier was on her phone as I stood there waiting, not sure who to order from but very hungry still! I proceeded to order the Steak and Cauliflower which was Charred, probably the only way I could eat that. My server completed my order and it took no longer than 5-7 mins. Observations: the staff was Luke warmly-hospitable. Everyone looked like they were bored with each other which btw I'd love to see how they'd handle the store if or when it's busy. What's important though is that if you can put the drowsy staff aside the Food is pretty darn good, which leaves me with 3 stars for this business 5 stars for the dining district as a WHOLE. read more

I decided to try the new tres carne today because Chipolte was located across the Mall.I should have taken that walk. I found the food to be just okay. The employees behind the counter were brain dead and I couldn't buy a COLD beverage. All they have is a refrigerator with soda and lemonade at room temperature and NO ice because they don't have an ice machine. Very nicely done, the remodel at Roosevelt Field is very nice and modern looking. There are so many places and great healthy options to eat. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is because I liked the feeling of the old food court with the history of the blimp.
