After learning on Thursday evening that my husband's uncle would be laid to rest at a simple graveside service the following Monday, we were left scrambling to find a place where family and friends could gather afterward to celebrate his life. With generations of our family buried in the historic Tubac Cemetery and very few venue options available in the area, we reached out to St. Ann's Community Hall. Throughout the process, our plans changed multiple times as we tried to coordinate everything on such short notice. We said yes, then no, then yes again, and even changed course once more before finally confirming. Through it all, Marianne was incredibly patient, understanding, and accommodating. Her calm demeanor and professional background make her the perfect person to work with, regardless of the type of event you're planning. The hall was already set up with tables and chairs based on our estimate of 75 guests, and we were given early access to decorate and personalize the space. We were able to display family photos, set up centerpieces, create a dessert area, and make the room feel welcoming for friends and family gathering to remember JJ Gastelum. The facility itself exceeded our expectations. We had access to the bar area for beverages provided by Sonora Mia, another wonderful local business. The kitchen was spacious and included a large refrigerator and freezer, with a rolling door that allowed us to keep the service areas hidden from view during the event. The restrooms were clean and well maintained, and we were able to connect to both the sound system and display TVs without issue. Although we didn't need the bridal suite, Marianne took the time to show us the space, and it was obvious how thoughtfully it was designed. With beautiful lighting, large mirrors, a private bathroom, and plenty of room to prepare, it would be perfect for weddings, anniversaries, quinceañeras, and other special celebrations. The parking lot was another standout feature, offering ample parking along with accessible concrete handicap spaces that make wheelchair access much easier. Planning a Celebration of Life in less than a week is incredibly stressful. We had only a few days to coordinate everything while grieving the loss of a loved one. Thanks to Marianne, St. Ann's Community Hall, and the wonderful local vendors who helped us pull everything together, the day turned out beautifully. Our family is deeply grateful for the kindness, flexibility, and support we received. St. Ann's Community Hall provided far more than just a venue--they helped create a meaningful space where family and friends could gather, share stories, and celebrate the life of JJ Gastelum. Because of the limited parking in the Canyon, they need to be strict about parking rules and check-in/check-out times, but from the moment we arrived we felt welcome and at home. While the staff was dealing with many issues at once, they were able to answer our questions and get us into our room asap, just a bit early. As soon as you park in the "gift shop"/reception parking, you realize you are in bird heaven. They have a huge bird garden that was mobbed with local birds. They have an outside viewing area and another area with chairs after passing through the shop. The shop includes coffee drinks, ice creams and snacks, and the porch is a great place to stay while waiting for a room. Our cabin (#1) was absolutely perfect and had a fantastic view of the birding area, but you won't go wrong with any cabin. Interestingly, the cabin has a slight tip to it, but it was more amusing than annoying. It gets cold in the evening and the two heaters were easy to use. The kitchen was well equipped and we had no problem cooking the microwave food we brought with us for dinner. Be sure to note that there are absolutely no dining or food purchase options in the canyon, you must bring your own. We had one issue with the TV. Normally I never use TVs in hotels, but I wanted to watch a few minutes of a football game. They had just installed a new Roku operating system a few days before and it didn't work well at all. A very nice maintenance guy got us connected but there was no channel with the game. Even after I turned the TV off, it kept coming back on again. We eventually just unplugged it. Again, this wasn't a problem at all, but they need to work on the new system. You are not there to watch TV!!! We had a very comfortable night and enjoyed the birding and the coffee shop again the next morning. A wonderful stay, and highly recommended.

This one was disappointing, was a couple eggs, microwave bacon, and 2 tomato slices. There was coffee, a couple of juice choices and toast you had to make yourself. Also had instant oatmeal and a cereal out on table as a choice. Just seemed more like a chain hotel breakfast. Would definitely recommend for the stay though.

The flagstone patio is excellent for dreaming, bird-watching, (it's a hot birdwatching place w/great biodiversity & right on some bird migration paths), star-gazing, and watching the sun go down with a glass of wine. The property lies off a dirt road, with excellent hiking, biking, and running trails and streams (at least in spring) so feels quite remote, but it's also about 3 miles from the little town of Patagonia. This is perfect for a couples getaway (there are two free-standing casitas plus a main lodge) but also for families and it's dog-friendly. They have a donkey and a horse who love snacks and an excellent library of books to read. It also seems to draw like-minded souls as the other guests we met over our 3-day stay were lovely, respectful, quiet, and as grateful and amazed as we were to have found this charmed hideway.

Despite the fact that the ranch is genuinely and wonderfully historic, it is very clean and well cared for and we lacked nothing. The guest rooms and common areas are comfortable and charming. Each room is unique and had all the creature comforts we could need. The grounds offer areas of individual respite or group gatherings. I spent quiet moments listening to the contented horses eating breakfast while watching the antics of a pair of cardinals (in addition to the many other beautiful birds all over the grounds). Did not use the pool or hammock but they looked inviting. The food! Sooo good! It's not easy to feed a large varied group such as ours but they did so with flying colors. Always delicious and plentiful and accommodating. We felt spoiled and loved it. The staff is down to earth and genuine and treated us all like royalty. The team of Ross and Lynee enhanced our experience at Kenyon even more. Ross matched each rider to the right horse and offered safe enjoyable riding through the beautiful desert and shared cowboy poetry in the evening. Lynee ensured every single guest had the most delightful experience. True professionals. The ranch is remote enough to feel and enjoy tranquility but very nearby there are opportunities to enjoy art, State and National parks/museums, dining and shopping. There is plenty to do if one chooses. The Kenyon Ranch is good for the soul and we will be back.
