We were the only guest at the time and the quiet was wonderful. The space was clean; the bed was very comfortable; there was full bath and kitchen (fridge had trouble keeping things cold, never got above 45 degrees so take a good ice chest). The kitchen amenities were perfect for making breakfast and a couple of dinners during our 5 night stay. It was nice to have access to a TV but they do need to replace the swivel head which is broken and the TV is at a 45 degree downward angle. We propped it up with a roll of paper towels!! It worked. The outdoor space around the koi pond is so tranquil and pleasant that my husband and I hung out in our PJ and had coffee every morning. At night it was a great place to take in the stunning night skies. If you time it right you get ti watch Karen feed the giant koi Karen was very good at guiding us to the wineries and I can't thank her enough for recommending the Sonoita winery whose MeCaSah wine is truly an award winner. We also went the Vera Earl Beef which sell aged beef..so good. Also of note is the Copper Brothel Brewery where I had the best chicarrones ever and I don't want to leave out The Corner Scoop for the best breakfast burritos. All in all it was so enjoyable and hope to return.

The hosts really makes this place special. They are incredible cooks. Jeff has worked in fine dining, and he knows his liquor, being a certified tequila specialist as well as 20 years in wine. Neesun has a knack for creating delicious, flavorful dishes, and we were all stuffed every day. Apparently this is one of the first places the missionaries came to, and there's a very palpable special energy throughout the quarters. The place itself feels historic yet comfortable, from the tasteful art pieces thoughtfully placed across the property down to the comfortable beds in every room. Many of us here have slept better here than we have in recent memory. The views are special, and the pool and pool side grill are majestic. It's a truly special location, and we felt honored to have stayed there.

From the moment you walk through the magical corridor, you are mesmerized by the original art on the walls (painted by the namesake of the Hacienda)...you know there is something alluringly unique about this place! Come to find out it is what compelled Nissa's Mom to buy this magical place! The main house is artistic, inviting and homey chic. Our room was tucked away just enough to still feel apart of this warm hug of a Casa. The huge windows showcase the ridiculously stunning view of their property and just stepping outside you are audience to a melodic concert of birds, cows, bees and other delights galore! Cocktail hour was just perfect, complete with homemade chips, fresh guacamole, yummy wine and engaging conversation. Nissa shared her families story with such love and detail, what a gift! Our breakfast of powdered sugar dusted, artistic fruit ladened Dutch pancakes with thick cut bacon the next morning was ridiculously scrumptious and lovingly made by Nissa, she is extremely multifaceted in her array of talents! As you explore the grounds you are greeted by sweet dogs, free roaming chickens and maybe even a precocious, engaging Princess of a young Lady named Rain! The sparkling pool calls to you, love the whimsical vintage tiles! You are just floating literally as well as from the intoxicating energy you feel as you meander under the "Fairy Pine", spreading her wings of needles with her cones the fairies live in that turn into rose cones that Nissa makes into art you see all around the Casa... it's undeniably ethereal stuff! To my delight, Nissa fit us in on a holiday weekend no less for a sunset horseback ride. Emmanual, the resident cowboy and Ranch guru, is an absolute gem of a human, brotherly vibe from the moment we met him. The ride around the property blew us away, from a mini cattle drive, weaving through trees and brush, then making our way up to a sweet vantage point to catch the sunset. Truly a way to feel even more connected to this Hacienda! The adventure continued with Emmanual the next day when we had a spontaneous roping lessons by the pool and a shared cookout where we were honored by the presence of Nissa, Jeff, Rain and even the pups joined! Flawless experience that I look forward to repeating and most definitely will be back!

There are rolling grassy hills that are golden in the winter and green in the summer. A lot of people don't realize that the temperatures down here (due to the elevation) are much like northern Arizona in the winter -- so it's a great alternative to "going north" to cool off in the Summers. Temperatures rarely reach 100 on a Summer day and it cools to the 60s at night -- a luxury we don't get in the Valley! Our most recent visit (February 2012) was windy but gorgeous. No jackets required! Toni, proprietor, has started a gluten-free / allergy-free bakery and makes human AND dog treats! I can vouch for the human treats being delicious -- I especially liked the quinoa cookies. And, there's a lot to do in the area. No less than 11 winery tasting rooms are near by (there is a limo service you can hire if you can't agree on a designated driver). Or visit Parker Canyon Lake which you can walk (5 miles), fish or rent pedal boats or kayaks. Patagona Lake is larger and offers a lot of amenities and both offer camp sites. But, why camp when you can stay at Whisper's Ranch?! And, finally, Kartchner Caverns are a convenient stop on your way back to Phoenix but be sure to make a reservation! Southern Arizona, and particularly Whisper's Ranch, are great alternatives to heading north for a quick getaway!

The owner has many food allergies so she can prepare gluten-free and allergy-free foods for guests. The location feels remote, but it's less than 30 minutes from a large town (Sierra Vista) and 6 miles to a major Army base. We've stayed in many B & B's and this one is tops by far, and very far from "basic" accommodations. They do ask for advance reservations - the owner mentioned that her husband died suddenly, leaving her with many responsibilities, to include running 5 businesses with little help! We got a tour of the animal sanctuary next door, and we're so happy to patronize a business that supports such a worthwhile charity. The location is peaceful, near the vineyards, and surrounded by the National Forest. Hard to find accommodations like this for this price! Highly recommended for a peaceful get away. No tv's means you get to reconnect with your traveling companion!! It was wonderful!

The bed itself was quite comfortable though a bit squeaky. The room was clean, comfortable, roomy, and came with everything we needed to enjoy a quiet evening away from the kids. We brought food to make a gourmet campfire dinner and enjoyed the BBQ set up and fire pit. Breakfast was provided and while we did not care for the prepped quiche (tasted like a slice of pizza) we enjoyed the apple crisp and yoghurt parfait and the gesture alone!
