I had my first appointment today and I was blown away! I've never had such a great experience in a…read moredentist's office, and it's all thanks to Dan (my hygienist)! Dan explained everything through the entire process with me. Why certain things happen, what the treatment does, etc., answering all of my questions. And in a way that was so kind and not condescending at all! For example, my gum eroded on one tooth where I used to have braces, and my previous providers never told me what that was or how it impacted my dental health. I never knew it was a problem! (In fact, I don't think I've ever had my gums measured, which they do in the office.) So it kept getting worse to where now the root is partially exposed, which is difficult or can't be repaired. He was worried about rambling on with his explanation, but it was actually so helpful! I learned so much in a single appointment than I had my entire life receiving dental care. I think that if I learned this earlier on I would have avoided a few cavities or drilling. Now that I know what Dan has taught me (in a single visit, mind you!!!), I feel more confident that I can turn things around with my dental health for the better (not that it's horrible, but I have room for improvement). And he's so nice that I want to do better, so I don't disappoint him if I, for example, don't floss. Which is a positive motivator! He shows genuine care toward his patients, and it really shows, not just in his demeanor, but in how thorough and careful he is with his cleaning. He seemed focused on making me confident on how we can improve together, especially emphasizing which issues are perfectly normal and unavoidable due to anatomy. You will not be berated on being "wrong" or "lazy". I felt more empowered in my care. He also informed me that any sealants I get are constantly monitored (they took pictures today) every time I come in for a visit, so if anything happens to them, they will replace them with no questions asked for free! I've never experienced this level of service at a dentist's office. I've been receiving mediocre care all this time and thought it was normal. I came to Lalor Dental Vestal as a new patient from out of state with an active periodontal…read morecondition that had already been fully diagnosed by my previous dentist (moved), including current X-rays, pocket depth measurements, and a DNA bacterial test. The office rejected my wish to send my existing X-rays and pocket depth records when I called and made an appointment, requiring me to repeat testing that had already been done. The X-ray process took 40 minutes and was very painful which I am not used to in previous annual cleanings, but the hygienist was great and helped normalize that most patients say it's uncomfortable as well. She and the man who greeted me in-person at the front desk are the only reason this is not "0" stars. Dr. Attal showed little interest in my existing documentation or the urgency of my situation, which was very frustrating to me since I was experiencing pain. I was asked to schedule yet another separate appointment just to re-measure pocket depths already on file. Not every patient has the time or financial resources for repeated appointments and duplicate testing, especially when dealing with a painful gum condition requiring prompt treatment. I left feeling dismissed and no closer to the treatment I needed. I will now be driving 7 hours one way to see my previous dentist because Lalor was unwilling to provide the care I need. I would not recommend Dr. Attal to patients who come in with existing records or complex dental needs.

I had…read morealready decided to just extract the tooth if repair cost too much- rather than have it properly fixed. I saw Dr. Olbrys on short notice, and luckily the tooth was fine. UN-fortunately I have a good amount of bone loss, and even some gum disease- that caused this current infection. SMOKING and COFFEE have had a poor effect on my 61 year old mouth. I was prescribed an antibiotic and advised on some better hygiene methods that would improve my gum health. I was never made to feel dirty or dumb! Though of course I need to stop smoking! I made an appointment for a cleaning-(it was so affordable I was angry I waited!) By the time my cleaning came around, the infection was healed. But the true highlight WAS my cleaning. The technician was professional and really took the effort to explain things and to make sure I was comfortable. She took the extra effort to really clean even my most coffee stained lower front teeth. I was worried the lady's hands would get tired! The ladies at the front desk were pleasant and professional, and the care was very good. I'm SO glad I picked Summit!

I wasn't in the waiting room more than 5mins. before they called me back (I'm used to waiting for at least a half hour at my old dentist) Their equipment is more up-to-date than I'm used to so everything went so quick. Whenever i had gone to the dentist before, i always left with my mouth hurting. Not this time. The women that did my xrays were quick and very efficient. I didn't have to retake the pictures, like at other places. Everything was done right the first time. The dental hygienist was quick and very gentle. She answered all my questions, regardless of whether they were general dentistry questions or about specific procedures. Very informative. The dentist, Dr Grossman, was very nice and addressed my concerns (i need my wisdom teeth out soon) and he gave me a referral to a great oral surgeon I've heard about. Appointments seemed to be double-booked -- I waited far past my scheduled time more than once, and it was obvious they were trying to move patients through as quickly as possible. The quality of work did not meet my expectations. I felt like my concerns weren't taken seriously, and procedures felt hurried rather than careful and thorough. Communication was poor, and I often felt like I was being upsold instead of genuinely cared for. Don't bother calling the office either, you will be put on a hold loop, sent to multiple places to end the call!
