Great stop for the granddaughters, age 9 and 8. Great stop for someone with a sense of humor, kids who love dinosaurs or just needing to give the kids a moment to run. It Was campy and over the top but hey... I think it was meant to be. The rating is strictly for young kids. Adults, don't waste your time. The price was a bit high but the kids got to squirt a "Bigfoot" who was also armed with a squirt gun. read more

Decent amount of parking, even with a trailer. Really sweet older lady at the ticket booth, asked if we were military and gave us the discount. We made it just in time for the 3:30 Bigfoot battle! The kids were able to fill water guns and squirt Bigfoot as he ran around the town. It was a perfect way to cool off during the 90° weather. The town was pretty cool! My son had a blast going from store to store seeing what each room held. We pressed all the buttons and touched all the things! Our favorite part was the dino trail. My husband enjoyed the Civil War statues mixed with the dinosaurs. The kids just loved the dinosaurs and the adventure of it all. The dino maze was cool and my daughter loved the dino dig. The gift shop had some pretty cool shirts and we couldn't leave without getting a stuffed dino and a penny from the machine. A great roadside attraction! Definitely worth stopping and seeing, especially if you have kids/just enjoy weird and entertaining experiences. read more

Be sure you're up to date with your tetanus shot and make sure no one is allergic to bee stings. Concept is great but it looks like the establishment is not regularly maintained Dinosaurs in the kingdom need to be refreshed and just fyi, it is mainly outdoors, in the wild and shrubs, so be weary of bugs and animals from the wild. Other than that. Our son had fun! Staff was friendly and accommodating! The best part was the trex scare in the port a potty by the exit. We had fun filming there. read more

Everyone loves a corny roadside attraction. This is a great self guided tour. So many cool sites to see. There are photo opportunities everywhere. So much fun from Giant Heads to getting into a carriage with a giant praying mantas pulling it instead of horses. We spent hours. Great for kids BUT forget that my husband and I are in our 50's and we had a blast. Speaking of a blast. They have a bigfoot show that requires audience participation. Everyone fills super soakers and then let the water fly. Let the kid inside of you have fun. The artist and owner Mark Cline is the coolest person I know. He even writes and makes his own comic book novels. He also does a ghost tour that we will plan to do next trip Make sure you stop by the gift shop. This place was quirky and oh so much fun! I have been wanting to come here for a long time and it did not disappoint. There is so much attention to detail--there are dinosaurs in the trees, little fun surprises, and an oddness I just appreciated. Tips: Do go to the bathroom before you get there--there are only porta potties.:) You may want to bring extra clothes for your kids just in case they get in a water fight with Big Foot! read more

OK, first off, Mr. Mark Cline, you my friend are a genius and I applaud you sir. Wow, wow, wow! If you are a person of art, creativity and authenticity, this is a MUST SEE! Please leave your expectations at home or in the car and just enjoy the originality of this place. My kids are 12, 6, and 4...home run for each of them! Engaging, a little scary and just plain cool. It took us just 45 min to get through and the weather was absolutely perfect so for us the walk was easy. It's just a big circle in the woods filled with the most amazing sculptures and some animatronics. Wasn't filled with tons of people so it really gave us the feeling that we had traveled back in time. Had a chance to meet Mark Cline, dude, you are the real deal. We love finding the weird wherever we travel, so my kids (7 and 13) were excited about this stop on our way to the Historic Triangle. After spending the morning at Natural Bridge State Park, we arrived at Dinosaur Kingdom, and my kids were hooked by the kitschy overload before we even hit the ticket booth. We all laughed our way through the entire park, and for once I didn't have to threaten my children to look like they were having fun and liked each other for pictures. If you appreciate irreverent folk art and don't mind a few funhouse-style thrills, this is a great place to spend an hour or so. My kids have already asked when we can come back. read more

We were so glad we stopped in! It's worth the money! A fun time was had by all, and we even experienced a few genuine scares along the way! I love it when artists turn their passions into reality (twice), despite what surely were naysayers/arsonists along the way. Apparently the original Dinosaur Kingdom burned down. This family park is located right across from the Natural Bridge Zoo on Rt 11 in Natural Bridge, Va. you will see cave men, dinosaurs, wizard, and more outside the gates. Can't miss it! Rockbridge County is pretty well known for their involvement with the Civil War. Sadly, can't change what happened here. However, Mark the creator and owner of Dinosaur Kingdom decided to create a twist on what if they dinosaurs took over?! It starts off with the soldiers using dinosaurs as their weapons against one another. Then the dinosaurs decide to turn against the soldiers. Before entering the forest there are some buildings with buttons that brings interactions with the guests. You'll encounter big foot and a green monster. As well as baby dinosaurs. You will walk throughout the woods with many different dinosaur species and lots of laughter. Watch out though! Might be some interaction without buttons. This park is family friendly and with your paid entry you can go as many times as you'd like through the woods. With your ticket you can also walk across the street and get a discount on the zoos admission. There is also a Dino shop to take home some souvenirs from Dinosaur Kingdom! Mark also writes comic books so make sure to ask to buy one as well! You will not be disappointed. read more

I would rate higher if I could!!! My family absolutely loved this place. We were in and out in a hour with is perfect for little kids. If you leave you can come back that day how great. It's so cool seeing all the art work and creativity that goes into it. The best part is taking the water guns and hitting big foot! I mean how cool is that for the kids!!! It's definitely worth it. WHAT A WEIRDLY MAGICAL PLACE. This was by far the best vacation I've ever had. We caught a "Bigfoot sighting" which was just a man in a suit who runs around spraying everyone with a water gun. The mining town gave us a chance to walk into each house and building. And the statues were nonsensical. I had tears from laughing. read more

When my husband pulled up at this place I thought he was kidding and I was like what the hell is going on here but anyway this little lady comes out and she was so nice and friendly and gave us a military discount and we walked in and to my surprise it was actually really really cool It's like you're in Jurassic Park and there's all these little amusement things in there that I really just can't explain but what I will say is that it's actually kind of cool If you're in the area I definitely recommend it read more

This is a piece of history. It's kitsch in the very best way. If you're wondering what it would be like if the Confederate Army had access to dinosaurs to defeat the Union during the Civil War, then this is the place made specifically for you. There is no other place that will answer that question quite as well. And be sure to ask about Dinosaur Kingdom I. There's a story there as well. read more

It's great to see places like this in VA. Want to see steampunk, dinosaur, Civil War sci-fi revisionism IN THE DINOFLESH? COME HERE. This attraction was originally part of an area right near Natural Bridge that included a haunted house, but a fire devastated it. It was only recently rebuilt in 2016. THANK GAWD. Much better now, though I liked the original. You get to walk through a nature trail with a story of part of the Union Army going through time and encountering dinosaurs. The majority of the sights are stationary scenes of the story, but there's a rotating time tunnel, a shaking church, and other cool things. From what I remember there are several new additions, including an interactive comic, and the walk is less confined, far more open and longer than before. Only two complaints. One, the sound effects should be a little more varied and they should consider using multiple, small speakers throughout since it seems to be just one, large central one. Two, since it's now bigger, there are dead spaces on the walk. I assume these will be filled in time with new scenes. The price is reasonable and kids love it. Plus you can go through multiple times if you like with no extra charge once you're in. I recommend you go early in the morning in warmer months, but most of it is quite shaded. read more

Ok my review of 5 stars is through the eyes of my 4 year old son. Both of my kids 4 and 8 loved this attraction and wanted to go back the next day. It's part funhouse and part dinosaur walking trail through the woods. The vision of the owner is amazing. The staff is super friendly and they gave us a history before we started our visit. Dinosaurs, confederate soldiers and outer space creatures all met here for a fun time. Just scary enough at times for my kids, I greatly enjoyed watching their reactions to surprises on our journey through this park. A bit pricey but we'll be back next time we visit the Natural Bridge area. read more

An amazing place that's truly one of a kind. It's basically and entire town with cool, gigantic, sculptures of dinosaurs battling the union army. Such a fun experience! A great attraction for families of all sizes, and those just traveling. All staff members were pleasant, knowledgeable, and seemed like they really enjoyed being there, which the environment all the better. Even met the creator of this fun attraction! His imagination and creation is fantastic. There are little treasures in each exhibit to make you get involved in your surroundings. The water fight with big foot is awesome! Since I grew up in the late 60's and early 70's in the back of my parent's '65 Dodge Monaco, and they stopped at nearly every "roadside attraction" back then (World's Largest Ball of Twine? Horseshoe Curve? Luray Caverns? Storybook Forest?). My wife and I are HUGE fans of the kitschy attractions that dot the landscape across America because they remind us of our childhood, and this place is one of the BEST. Most people take themselves too darned seriously these days and they forget how to "just have fun", so Dinosaur Kingdom II is just the place to notch it back down a little and to just enjoy the adventure. You MUST do the "Battle with Bigfoot". I'm 61 years old, my wife is 60, and our friends who were visiting from out of town are in their early 70's, but we ALL were giggling like school kids by the time that it was over. We liked the attention to detail in the Battle of Saur Hill displays though. Most people never saw accounts of this battle in their history books, which is such a shame. This was probably the most fun I've had at a museum. It was the perfect morning for my fiancé and I, who are dinosaur and civil war history buffs respectively. The artwork was fantastic, the scenes are whimsical and hilarious, and the QR code movies are a great addition to the tour. Who knew how much of our nation's history was being suppressed! A very creative bit of historical reinvention, kids love the dinosaurs and the story line. Adults will love the Ken Burns style 'documentary' at the beginning. Be sure to buy the graphic novel that accompanies the exhibit as it gives you the complete story of this 'important,' but little-known moment in history. The price is quite reasonable. The staff are quite friendly. We even ran into Professor Cline himself (he was installing additional 'biological' information about the dinosaurs and said: "Come in back in and see this)!" We then discovered that once you've paid your admission, you are free to go through the park again and again. read more

This is a super cheesy roadside oddity. Our kids 8 and 11 had a lot of fun. Don't have high expectations for seeing dinosaurs exhibits. This is an artist depiction of dinosaurs during the civil war era. Push every button and peak in every room or opening in the place. Good way to kill 1-2 hours. read more
