A popular spot in Deep Cove as the lineup ran as long as 50m out the door - I've never seen such a long line for $20 sandwiches before, so it must've been good. My favourite sandwich is turkey with brie and cranberry which they had. The sandwich was massive and tasted amazing. It was packed, full pieces of cut Brie with an amazing seasoned bread. It was everything that I expected from my favourite sandwich, which was met. I was going to give 4/5 due to the price, but after thinking, I pretty much didn't eat much for dinner because of how full that I was from this sandwich, and thinking about what a touristy place Deep Cove is, and with the amazing views, I changed it to 5/5 since the price is justified. Having just finished paddleboarding in Deep Cove, a group of us wanted to grab some lunch, and one of my friends suggested Dip Co. We arrived right around 12:30pm, which I imagine was peak time, so all the tables were full and there long line to get inside. But the line moved fairly quickly so we only waited maybe 10-15 minutes. Once we placed our order, it probably took them another 10-15 minutes to prepare. There is a good selection of sandwiches to pick from, so it was difficult to decide, but I ended up ordering the La Foret Royal. The first thing they mentioned was that it could get cross-contaminated with meat, which I didn't mind because I'm not vegetarian/vegan. However, if I was vegetarian/vegan I would imagine it would've been a turn-off. I ate my sandwich in the park. I was starving after 2 hours on the water, but despite that, I thought my sandwich was so-so. It was certainly huge, and they are generous with the ingredients. But it didn't amaze me. I felt it was stuffed with so much ingredients, no single flavour really stood out for me. In fact, I took half my sandwich home, and when I re-baked it, I felt it had better flavour and texture at that time because their house-made bread was warm and slightly more crispy, and I could reduce the ingredients to better bite proportions. I liked they had a nice selection of chips and drinks. Staff were also very nice. Overall, I have mixed feelings. The place is a nice fit for Deep Cove. Sandwiches make a great picnic option and they fill a definite need. The sandwiches are a generous size, and could easily be split between two people. In terms of flavour, I didn't find it particularly special, but on the other hand, I enjoyed it much more when I reheated it at home. I am not a huge sandwich fan but I cannot begin to explain to you how phenomenally unique these sandwiches are. They have lines out the door frequently and heavy wait times but receiving that sandwich and taking a bite is the greatest reward. Their bread is made in house and has a bite to it but fluffy on the inside. My favourite is the speck with prosciutto and bocconcini being the main ingredients. Their balsamic glaze is tangy and slightly sweet but my super hack is asking for olive tapenade that brings this sandwich home! Dip Co Delights is a quaint Italian sandwich shop that serves your desired assortment of sandwich filling in a fresh focaccia bun. There is a good variety of preset sandwiches, and each sandwich is open to customization. I ordered the fabulosa because I love capicollo, and I was able to remove the eggplant and olives, while adding fried onions. Customization is nice. The flavour of the ingredients used is great. Meat, veggies, sauces are all flavourful and the focaccia is evidently fresh. However, while the focaccia is good, I do wish it was seasoned a bit. Maybe some herbs, or flaky salt to top it would elevate the flavour profile of the sandwich to the next level. My only gripe with everything was the price. At 13 dollars a sandwich, all I could think about was "damn, can't imagine the margins on this price tag". While I haven't been in Vancouver long, Toronto and Ottawa have Italian grocery stores that serve variations of Italian sandwiches using the same fresh ingredients and daily made bread, all around the price range of 5-8 dollars. At 13 dollars I have a hard time justifying the purchase despite everything else being great. Overall, the food, the staff, the taste is all great. The price not so much. Would I go here again? Maybe... if I don't find an Italian grocery store that serves similar for cheaper. Would I recommend this to others?
