The Italian sandwich is a classic and my favorite is the chicken pesto sandwich with fresh carved chicken. I like the vibe here. Diverse crowd with UBC students, Jericho/Kits residents, and construction workers as there's a development across the street. The pasta made in house was a hit. I came on a Thursday night for a quick bite before a concert. I got the rosé pasta, added a meatball, and the pesto pasta salad. I service at the counter was quick and there was plenty of seating. Interesting small italian deli on the west end. Prices are kind of on par for italian, but the quality is good at least. I'm always conflicted about paying for pasta outside as its a dish I feel I can do as good myself. I'm glad to say that I'm a big fan of the Radiatore shape and its not something you can find easily in Vancouver except in specialty shops, so definitely give that a try. We've heard about this budget friendly & inexpensive spot that serves up homemade pasta before. We passed by it when we were in the area and got to try it out finally. You order at the counter and it's a self-serve spot with a casual vibe. I was shocked to see the menu of various pastas for $11.59 and sandwiches for only $9.89 though! We ordered the Rosé Radiatori with meat sauce and Pesto Cream Rigatoni. Both came with a side of focaccia too! The pasta was freshly made and it was cooked al dente, which we liked. The Rosé pasta had a slight kick to it and the Radiatori is a unique pasta shape that we don't eat often. It was a little on the blander side and it wasn't as hot as we would've liked. We enjoyed the Pesto cream more as that was a lovely balance of flavour and creaminess. We dipped the focaccia in the leftover Pesto sauce and it was delicious though the bread was a little more chewy and tough than what I prefer for focaccia. But come on, $12 for a meal whether for lunch or dinner IS A STEAL! I will likely return and I do want to try the sandwiches! read more

This place is affordable -- so that's a big plus. A plate of fresh pasta and a side salad will run you like $14. The Alfredo's sauce wasn't quite what I was used to and felt a bit runnier? Not that it was bad but it was just different. My favorite part of it was the focaccia they give on the side that we can use to mop up the spaghetti sauce! While I saw some mixed reviews on Yelp, I tried Jo's for the first time with family. I originally picked the bolognese for the fresh-made pasta, meat sauce & bit of spice. My spouse accidentally ordered me the spaghetti with meatballs and it turned out to be the star dish I would love the most! I added a bit of chili flakes for some welcome heat to the generous chunky rustic tomato sauce along with the fresh al dente pasta noodles and moist meatballs (with lots of parsley). Was very impressed with how flavorful it was alongside an also fresh tasting made house foccacia. As a home breadmaker, I was impressed with how soft, light, chewy, nicely seasoned and non-oily the bread was. In 3 words: fresh, delicious & affordable! A major win for family lunch, great for a local business/neighbourhood eatery, leftovers to bring home and plans for another visit. Italian cold cut sandwich 3.5/5. Hearty and the flavour was good, but nothing too special. I can't complain at less than $14. It was a big sandwich. Spaghetti and meatballs 4.5/5. The pasta is so fresh. The flavor and texture was great. The dish was simple but satisfying. The meatballs however weren't memorable. Caesar salad 5/5. I wasn't even planning on getting this but I got a combo so thought I'd try it. It was really good! Would definitely get it again. Mango lemonade 4/5. Refreshing, sweet but not too sweet and not overly tart like many lemonades. Service was great! It was quick. Straight forward. 4.5 stars. Came to this very busy, casual retaurant/deli for a late lunch at 2:30pm. We managed to get a table as people were just finishing up their meals or waiting for take out. We tried their popular Radiatore Rosé, a pasta dish with slightly spicy ground sausage and creamy Rosé sauce. It was served piping hot, tasty but not overly salty. A generous serving of fluffy and fresh foccaccia bread comes along with their pastas. At less than $12 each, the pastas are definitely reasonably priced. The pastas here are egg free. We also tried a large chicken pesto sandwich. The sandwich was satisfiying and well balanced with fillings and natural tasting flavour. The quality chicken and bread was noticeable in the taste and texture. Interestingly, while dining in, we saw a number of customers upon entering the deli, headed first to the merchandise area, particularly the t-shirt/sweatshirt corner. As it turns out, any purchase of a these items comes with a free sandwich or pasta! Pretty smart marketing by the business, and a good deal for hungry customers who could use a quality top! Jo's Italian Deli is a rare find where the service is friendly, and the food is quality and affordable. We discovered Jo's opened up another location on Main Street near E.24th Avenue, and out of curiosity, we checked it out after our meal. Lol! Great no fuss, no frills spot to get some comfort food. The tuna sandwich was super nostalgic and service was very kind in remaking the Caesar salad which came with pork on top (not listed on menu). Will definitely have to try the pastas next time, they looked so creamy and delicious and even came with bread! The pastas next shapes were cute, not just the basic penne, which i appreciated. I echo other reviewers who were disappointed. We made a 20-minute trip out just to check out the purportedly "huge" portions of "fresh" pasta for "unbelievable" prices. Perhaps this was the case a year ago, but certainly not as of April 2024. The pesto cream penne I got was nothing special at best and rather bland. The bolognese hubby got was very small in portion and low on meat. Sure, they were $11.19 each, but literally we could've made similar pasta for ourselves at home. Jo's Italian Deli is a good option for a fast and affordable meals. I've been wanting to try Jo's for years and had the opportunity a few weeks ago. I've come out with mixed feelings but hope to return to give it another shot. Pros: the pasta is cooked al-dente, large portion size and economical prices. Good sample of menu options - I selected the Pasta Platter for $14.99 which included a pick of pasta (mines was spaghetti & meatballs) + a side (caesar salad) along with a nice piece of big and soft focaccia. Great option for a take-out party/large family dinner. Small selection of Italian groceries for sale. Cute & bright atmosphere. Cons: counter order taker could have been friendlier, water station not filled and I along with other customers had to wait again as we already waited in line 12 minutes prior to placing orders. Counter server could have asked another staff to assist so there wouldn't have been a line up of people waiting for water. Sustainability was in place for most items but not the plastic bowl for salad which I found perplexing. Limited and self-serve sitting tables as we had to wait again for a table, clear away the dishes and clean the tables ourselves. This place would not be for you if you want full service. I understand the deli/counter food ordering process but waiting for 30mins around 5:30pm is a lot for quick food. Best to visit outside of dinner time or do take out. read more

This pasta place is not just a place to get food but also a mini Italian grocery shop. We went there during lunch and a lot of the customers were students. Must be because of the affordable pricing. You'd order your food at the counter and wait for the buzzer to vibrate. All three of us for the pasta and salad combo but I don't think the price was that much better than ordering them separately?! We got two Bolognese and one rose. I switched my Bolognese to spaghetti since i love twirling the pasta with my fork. The pasta was simple and delicious. We also got the chickpea, artichoke and pasta salad. They were all delicious as well. I wished the bread was toasted though as i didn't really like it being soft and cold. We tried the spaghetti bolognese (our son said it was pretty good and not too spicy), the rigatoni pesto cream (tasty and recommended, although the sauce was a little watery and runny for a cream space), and the radiatore rose (a unique pasta with a red cream sauce - some nice heat from the sausage - also recommended). Pastas were $11.59. Staff were friendly. Order at the counter and seat yourself. Some interesting Italian culinary items you can shop for and purchase in their mini store area. I came here to finally try the hype. IMO it wasn't worth me driving out here. But if you're in the area. It's a quick solid meal. We came at 2pm and they didn't have any pasta dishes with red sauce. So we were left with these two options. Alfredo & bolognese sauce. The Alfredo, was not to my liking- we added the chicken. And it was over cooked chicken breast. My bf thought it was canned chicken tasting. The bolognese was better, perfect cooking on the pasta. Could use more sauce. It was on the drier side. The focaccia bread though - WAS the best part. Came here after seeing the raving reviews online - but found it a little underwhelming. We ordered: - Rose Pasta $10.29 - Alfredo Pasta + chicken add on $13.08 - Spaghetti & Meatballs $10.29 When we ordered, we were informed that they were out of the focaccia bread, so they offered to provide us with the cibatta buns instead (the buns used in their sandwiches). When the food was ready, it seemed that they changed their mind, and gave us a small ceasar salad to share - even though we ordered 3 pastas. We also noticed that they might have not evenly incorporated the salt in the meatballs - 2 of the meatballs were good, but the 3rd one was reallllly salty. The food was also very lukewarm - it seemed like they heated up the sauce and mixed it with room temperature pasta which created a lukewarm dish. We did enjoy the pasta texture though - it was aldente and yummy! All in all, it was a great deal and I think I would still try again. Maybe I will try with takeout (so I can heat up the dish at home), and I am still hoping to try out their sandwiches! read more

I don't think I've visited any other Vancouver restaurant more than this one, and it's my go-to affordable place to bring friends. I've only ever had the pasta, but prices are excellent for the portion size (at least compared to other establishments in Vancouver). The bolognese pasta is not my favorite - a bit watery - but everything else is great. For dine-in, food is easy to pick up as they use a buzzer system. I once didn't receive my food since my buzzer didn't go off, and they remade it quickly. For take-out, they call your name. My one knock against this place is that it's sweltering in the summer. read more

I have never been there but have ordered it several times. It's great value and great food. I would definitely recommend this place
