As a long-time client of Diptyque, I was surprisingly disappointed with the service accorded by Diptyque's Madison Avenue location on Sunday, January 12th. The staff was unhelpful when I presented a holiday candle with tree carousel that was defective in that it did not turn when the candle was lighted. One sales representative said " Oh yes, those have been iffy," while the other sales associate responded "It's not supposed to turn." There was no solution offered (e.g. store credit) by either person. I have shopped at various Diptyque locations throughout NYC (eg. Soho and Grand Central Terminal) and have always received extraordinary customer service. I hope the Madison Avenue location can improve staff training and customer relations moving forward. read more

It is hard to imagine a better candle than Diptyque's vanilla. It is not the standard "plain vanilla" but is more complex. This store is small but lovely. The experience is upscale, and when I have visited, the staff was friendly rather than snooty. Come here if you want a great gift for yourself or someone else! read more

Miguel was hands down the best sales associate I've ever met!! Not only was he keen to elaborate on every product he also introduced all the amazing notes that I was looking for during this early fall time period. There were so many wonderful scents that could even potentially be a bit of an overwhelming experience because I was tempted to purchase almost every product that suit my criteria (lol) but Miguel made the experience so easy and effortless that I was able to find what I really wanted to get the most. It's really hard for me to give only three stars, but I had to. I love Diptyque and have brought many candles, which I still think are the best. I live in Berlin and was so excited to travel with my sister to NYC and get their NY candle but the whole experience was very underwhelming, not because of the products but the two ladies working there. They seemed quite cold, not very welcoming or happy. It felt like they don't really want to be there. I visited the store back in 2014 and it was a whole different experience. I don't know what happened. I got my NY candle and I'm happy with the product but I'm not sure if I'll go back to this store when in NYC again. read more

First off I'm very new to Diptyque and their products. I'm not really one to have money for expensive things but diptyque fragrances are truly unique. I was greeted and assisted by Fernanda with a smile and an eagerness to help. She literally sprayed over 5 fragrances on me, and explained the notes while helping me decide which one went best with my body chemistry. She helped me learn that my body chemistry and sandalwood are a no go. After about 20 minutes of helping me. I was offered samples to try before making a purchase. Wait... what??? I was so shocked but in a very pleased way. Where does a person help for over 20 minutes and not get pushy? It is almost unheard of! The owner Marjorie welcomed me to her store and showed my some really nice traveling size sets and recommended a store in Chicago. She also said she can ship anything I like home for me. Being a fan of diptyque candles, I had to stop by here when I happened to be in the area. The store smells heavenly, and the decor is the typical Upper Eastside fancy schmancy. The lovely sales lady, Marjorie, looks like someone who walks out of "Gossip Girl.". She was warm, welcoming, and very helpful. She patiently introduced me to the fragrances without being pushy or pretentious at all. Thanks to her, I was able to pick up the candles I like pleasantly and quickly. $60 per candle is not cheap, but such outstanding customer service stays bright in my mind and heart whenever I light up one of these diptyque candles. read more

I've been shopping at this store for the last few years. I've always had a great experience with the sales associates...especially Haley. Diptyque Madison has opened my eyes to the world of diptyque and all the different types of products that they offer. The manager Lori is aways so accommodating and helpful at finding items that are out of stock or at a different location. However, a few days ago I was in the neighborhood and decided to pop in to buy a few items. I worked with an employee who I think was named Michael. I had not worked with him previously. I felt very uncomfortable as I was pressured to purchase scents that I did not like. I was not even going to buy any candles but felt so uncomfortable that I left with a Jonquille candle. To be honest, I highly recommend people avoid this scent and this associate. I burned it for 15 minutes and chucked it. I'm very disappointed in the store but hope that I will have a better experience in the future with a new associate. Ask for Haley or Lori and they will take great care of you. read more

I was walking home from central park and walked by this store, and walked backwards after realizing the amazing smell -- I walked in and immediately was greeted and helped. I had my dog with me so I wasn't sure if I would be welcome, but all 3 employees were so kind. Maya helped me so much, I had no idea so much went into a specific scent, I explained to her a candle I loved but was discontinued from another brand - I did a horrible job describing the notes but she figured out so fast what to compare it to and replaced my old candle with a new one + helped me find my new favorite perfume I have used everyday. I had no idea I was shopping that day and I left with my new favorite home scent and fragrance for me, she even gave me champagne while I looked around and samples to try. I mean ... pretty perfect way to end a day in Central Park with my pup. I will definitely be back - and already sent a few friends after they complimented my new perfume. read more

I love these candles. They make the perfect hostess gift. I just gave one to my hosts during a weekend stay in the country. They loved it.
