I had walked by this place many times but had never gone in until a few months ago. The outside is deceiving, because this place is far bigger than it looks from the outside. There is a staircase on the first floor that leads up to a huge second floor filled with goods from all over Asia, primarily Japan. They sell a huge amount of imported goods. You'll find a lot of supermarket items - snacks, candies, drinks, pastries, frozen goods and more. There is much more than food though. You can also find manga, movies, beauty products, many household products, and a huge collection of plushies. There is something for everyone here if you are looking for Asian products. And I find that their products are cheaper than similar stores. read more

Wow I cannot believe Teso is hitting big in New York City and its stores are growing rapidly everywhere. I know there is a Teso Mini in Chinatown and now that there is one in K town is very nice to have. I can just pop in and grab a green tea bottle by Ito En for $1.99 not like other places that charge more for those green tea bottles. Also one bad thing about this store is the makeup foundation that I just realized about. The brands for foundation is not consistent whenever I go there. They carry different brands and once a brand is sold out then they don't restock and then I never see that brand again!? It's so weird. I was trying to restock on foundation and the brand I was looking for was never to be found again when I went back. How can this be! I'm just very upset about that. They have an alright selection of blind boxes but not as good as Miniso, which has a bigger selection. Teso is more known and best for light snacks and ice cream. They have a lot of nice Kit Kat of different Asian flavors you don't see in other supermarkets. read more

This location is stacked. A lot of the treats, candies, sodas, etc are at the bottom level. The top level has everything you could want from beauty, lifestyle, and figurines. The selection of items in beauty selection are really well marked but it's always so busy here. The prices here ok maybe a little pricier than you'd expect. I came in for the round lab sunscreen, beauty of joseon glow deep serum, and the ishizawa face rice pack. Good variety of both Korean and Japanese skin care items! read more

Where do I begin. Each time I visit the city and happen to be nearby, I drop by. The store is small compared to another Teso location in Brooklyn I've visited. The second floor is where you will find everything. From food, hair products, skin products, makeup, houseware, stationary, and even those cute variety of Asian toys they sell. The snack and tea section my favorite. The store is well organized, a variety of items, service is great, and the price is not bad. I need to remind myself to stay away from the store, but keep coming back each time I visit the city. read more

Such a fun place to shop around! If you are into mystery box figurines this is your place. I'm not a collector and never had any interest, but I saw a really cute collection of Nanci figurines that I thought I'd snag as a souvenir (one for myself and one for my mom). And just like that, I understand the hype of mystery boxes lol. There are sooo many collections out there that I never knew about! It's a slippery slope, so be careful. They also have very cute buildables, similar to Legos except it's cardboard (build cute flowers, bookends, scenarios like greenhouses and bakeries). The store also has so many other items: household goods, snacks, candies, beverages, and makeup + skincare from Asian brands that can be hard to find (this is from my perspective, a visitor from California Bay Area). Great store with INCREDIBLE variety and options of Asian goods at very reasonable prices. You will find from collector toys to fancy skincare, home goods, cleaning supplies, even pet snacks and cute decor pieces, every hello kitty item possible and huge variety of "junk" food lol. I really loved the store, the display of everything was clean and organized, the cashiers fast to evacuate a long line in a few minutes, everything that has a smell had a tester, prices of everything were clearly displayed. This location is the grand behemoth of all Teso Life locations. While I love the Bath Beach Brooklyn location of this store, this one near Koreatown had more variety in terms of food, makeup, kitchen, snacks and hygiene supplies you would find in a Japanese konbini (term for convenient stores). It has two floors and the 2nd floor is where they store all the fun attractions. The other day I needed help finding some Japanese jiggly pancakes mix. The store is huge and the aisle signs are in Japanese so it is needed. So much staff in this location and they are all super helpful. If I lived near this store, my snack spirit animal would never want to leave. Very worthy of looking for any passing tourists or local NYers. Stop by when you get a chance. read more

A pretty decent sized Teso Life store consisting of two stories. This location has quite an extensive selection of everything ranging from Asian snacks, skin care, household products, toiletries, food and drinks, and anime figures, plush, and merchandise of all kinds. It's also very popular, with very narrow aisles. So it can definitely get a bit claustrophobic, especially in the snack isles. While there was quite a large amount of stuff that caught our eye, we wound up only purchasing some gummy candies since we were on vacation and had limited room in our luggage. Checkout registers are on the first floor, and thankfully go pretty quickly as they have multiple registers open at any given time. read more

There is a good variety of types of items available here from makeup, snacks, house hold items etc. The store consists of two floors but I just wish there would be more items of each type. Very cute store! I can't believe I haven't even known of its existence! Randomly stumbled upon it while killing time in the city. Very well-lit and 2 stories, so pretty spacious as well. When I went, the bottom floor had trinkets and toys, with some sale snacks towards the middle and drinks (ramune sodas!) and mini-grocery stuff towards the back. Upstairs, you'll find even MORE snacks, imported, and for GREAT prices. Like the lowest prices I've seen for imported Lays and Pringles with those crazy flavors like roasted chicken wings, seaweed, prime pork rib. $2.99 and lower. Also a whole bunch of cosmetics, moneycat piggy banks and household items. Seems pretty easy to go in to browse and walk out with something you weren't expecting. Kinda regretting not going with the $10 Mew chapstick now. Will definitely be returning to see their product rotation. read more

Kind of easy to past by on the street, but once you go up a flight of stairs, you will see shelves fully stocked with Asian snacks and personal hygiene items. Many of the snacks are from Japan and Asia. They have very familiar brands but with different flavors. KitKat with green tea, or lychee flavored KitKat. Japanese snacks and chips from Hong Kong. Things you don't normally see at your domestic US stores. It's like being transported to Japan and there are so many different varieties of snacks and candy to choose from. I loved Teso from Flushing and I'm glad they opened on in Ktown. If you love Japanese products [snacks, beverages, make up, skincare, stationary and etc] then you might like Teso. It's not a huge selection but it's more varieties than other stores. Snack wise I would say some prices are more cheaper in the Chinese supermarket if they are available. I wouldn't say it's a big difference but I come for all different selections sold in one place. I do also love how much more spacious it is compared to Flushing location. They do have staffs standing by aisles which feels uncomfortable at times. I do think it's for assistance incase the customer has questions. The products themselves are very fun and interesting. They have a lot of cute makeup, accessories, household items and many snacks. HOWEVER, I really did not appreciate being followed around more than other customers. Mind you I'm a brown south East Asian girl. When I got to the second floor, I saw a pair of East Asian women shopping without the staff following them closely. Yet, when I was there, suddenly the staff member decided to follow me closely and not even bother pretending that she was watching. This was my second trip to the store in a week. I love the products they have but the staff is making me think twice before stepping in here. I was intensely excited to find a japanese grocery/mini department store this large around Koreatown. They've got SO MUCH STUFF! From Naruto foot packs to colored eyeliner I thought I could only get in Japan to an immense amount of snacks to Canmake and specialty japanese cosmetics to all the flavors if Mintia and Hi-chew - I can just keep going on stuff this store has that I've been dying to find in NYC (or even in the USA in general). They even import some japanese roach traps and they had a balloon of a roach next to the stand which I thought was the funniest thing. Also Dragonball Z bubble gum. I didn't think I needed it until I saw it. They do have staff following basically everyone around - I took a couple tiny instagram story clips of things and they stared at me hard and it seemed like I was followed around the store the entire time. It's a little disconcerting but I'm not going to cross them for it - seems like others have the same experience (I'm pale asian if that makes a difference to the conversation?). It was easy to find help when I needed it though so there are pros to it. I remember when I visited Japan it had a similar tracking vibe to everyone in department stores so cool beans. read more

I personally LOVE Japanese stores and I was so happy to see one right in Ktown. They have a store in Flushing, but I've actually never been. Teso Life has everything - kitchenware, asian snacks and drinks, things for pets, cosmetics, haircare, stationery, condiments, etc. They have random things that you wouldn't even know you needed until you saw them. It has a similar concept to the store Daiso. This location is pretty big; the store has 2 floors. The first floor doesn't have much besides some makeup products and the register. This place looks really bright with shiny white floors and pink lit-up stairs. The second floor has a bunch of aisles with a variety of goodies. They have refrigerators with food items such as mochi, ice cream, cold drinks, and cakes. There's also a wall full of drinks with a makeup & cosmetics section next to it. Some items gave me nostalgia - snacks I grew up eating, but could never find once the asian grocery stores near me stopped selling them; stickers where you dress up the character with different clothes; Popin' Cookin' products, which are Japanese DIY candy kits in which you use the ingredients to make them look like different foods. Some interesting products I saw were Japanese KitKat flavors (cranberry almond, matcha, golden citrus, and others), portable paper soap sheets in different scents, tea sets, the Sakeru Grape Gummy from the "Long Long Man" Japanese commercials, and perfume sticks. The prices vary a lot, so it's a hit or miss - some items are cheap, while some are overpriced. I could spend hours in this store just going through all the aisles. They have so many items, it's not possible to see EVERYTHING in one visit. I'm excited to check out their Flushing store and if I'm in Ktown again, I'm 100% coming back to explore. read more

Aggressively lit up shop, just like Asia, this shop specializes in Japanese products, anywhere from food, to utensils, and of course skincare and makeup. The prices are a bit expensive, but given that they are giving a fantastic selection at your fingertips, and all clustered together, you're paying for the catered shopping experience that is almost impossible to find in America at a physical store. I wouldn't come here to get your daily groceries, but it's fun to come as a tourist, or bring a friend to introduce them to some Japanese products. read more
