Every purchase is supposed to come with two samples, and your first purchase with a welcome gift. And you get a bday gift during your bday month. Don't let this boutique make you think that a gift is the sample, because they are not. Alexandria in this boutique told me that 2 samples and gifts only apply to online orders... which isn't true, since other locations do offer them (and you do get a say on what scents you want). Also, when returning a product, make sure they process it correctly... here, they simply recharged the item and did an on-the-spot exchange, meaning no actual refund, which is basically robbery and against the law. This whole experience didn't feel right, so I asked Alexandria for the receipt, and she said it would be sent via email only. Wow... this is the first time I've ever heard of a business only sending receipts via email... which, again, isn't true. I went to another boutique afterward, and they actually know what they are doing and follow the policies. Also, if you must get your gift wrapped, go to another location as well, where they actually put heart into the task. read more

5/24/2025 If I could give my experience at this store zero stars, I would. I came in to have a classic candle and perfume gift wrapped myself. Simple enough request and aware that this is a favor and having been a retail associate myself, I'm mindful of how I'm asking. Not for Alex, who seemed actively annoyed that I was even in the store. I left with a small gift bag that she had confirmed would fit the classic candle and hoped for the best. Spoiler: it wasn't the right size. Dreading another encounter and her taking offense to me doubting her, I went back in just to clarify and Alex somehow managed to be even more miserable the second time around. Her response? "Go find another associate who can help you." No accountability, no help, just attitude. Thankfully, Anna stepped in and immediately got me the right bag, proving it wasn't a hard task just one Alex couldn't be bothered to do. So @ Alex: no need to be loud, wrong, and rude. If you're not up for customer interactions for today, either call out or re-direct me to other associates; customers are not your punching bag for your bad day or life. And to Diptyque: if this is the in-store experience you're offering in SoHo, maybe stick to e-commerce. I do all my gifting throughout the year with Diptyque, and I no longer want to be inconvenienced by this type of rudeness again. I'm getting married later this year and was so excited to pick up my wedding fragrance (Fleur de peau) in NYC while traveling here since there are no Diptyques around me. the store is gorgeous and there were 3 employees working, one of which seemed very friendly but was helping another couple check out. the other 2 were standing in the main area mostly chatting with one another as my fiancé and I looked around along with a few other customers. they did stop their conversation to greet us and offer to help if we had questions, which was nice, but the only other time they seemed to notice me was when they scolded me for spraying a sample strip too close to the wooden table. I immediately apologized and they didn't even acknowledge it and went right back to talking to each other. I eventually walked up to the girl who greeted me and asked if she's who I should talk to to make my purchase. she said sure and grabbed what I asked for and brought out a little pad for payment. it was all over very quickly. I will say it was nice of her to give 2 perfume samples in the bag and to let me know that my fragrance bottle could be refilled instead of purchasing a new one for a lot less. luckily I knew exactly what I was looking for. the layout of the store and the number of fragrances could be extremely intimidating for anyone who is unfamiliar with the brand or doesn't know what they like fragrance-wise. the vibes in there certainly weren't hostile, but I didn't feel welcome at all and even a little bit judged. it didn't feel good to see another customer getting great, personalized treatment right in front of me while I'm barely acknowledged, especially when this was such a special and anticipated purchase for me. I absolutely love Diptyque fragrances and am excited about my purchase, but when you're spending over $200 on a fragrance in a boutique, there should be more of a luxury experience to go with it. read more

The team here make the experience truly wonderful. I went in after passing by. I was use to going to Bloomingdale's for their fragrances which isn't too far away. If you prefer to browse on your own you can, but I highly recommend talking with the sales associates. They are so knowledgeable! I wish I had caught the associate's name who assisted me. Went into today to see their Valentine's Day collection and I was met with a sales associate that was so rude I'm still upset about the confrontation. I inquired about the Valentine's Day collection and I was going to buy a hand lotion. I was advised that the rose candle i wanted was sold out but I could still buy a set, to which I thought she meant the valentines set of candles. She then went onto explain to me in a tone that no I could choose two different scents for the set. When I said I was not interested in it if it wasn't the Valentine's Day set, she said "great!" Then abruptly cut me off and walked away. I ended up leaving and didn't even ask about the hand lotion I wanted because she was so rude and snobby. Dear Diptyque Team, I recently spent over $400 at SoHo New York stores, and unfortunately, I had a disappointing experience that I'd like to share. When I politely asked for a few additional samples, the staff member told me that the ability to provide samples depends on how much a customer spends. This was surprising to hear, especially because I've made purchases at the exact same store in the past, and sample requests were never an issue before. Additionally, the staff member was noticeably unfriendly and dismissive, which made the experience even more frustrating. As someone who genuinely enjoys Diptyque products and has been a loyal customer, I felt quite let down. (One of the darker Skin lady) Could you please clarify if there is an official in-store policy regarding sample distribution? The tall, slim Asian gentleman with the earrings was by far the best Diptyque associate I have ever interacted with in New York. I went into other stores, and even into Prince but was never taken seriously as a client by any other sales associates. He answered all of our questions well, it was almost like he knew the answer before we even asked. All in all, he was just very polite and it seemed like he genuinely enjoyed his job. This is the first negative review I've ever left at a place, but it's because our experience was uniquely terrible. I usually love Diptyque and stepped into the store to get a specific perfume. The folks working at this location are so rude and hostile - we were polite and respectful and waited our turn (even though it appeared that everyone else was a higher priority customer, despite coming in later than us). I know that establishments have the right to refuse service, but I'm not sure what it is that we did to deserve that treatment. I honestly should have left sooner since the experience was already so uncomfortable, but I really wanted that perfume LOL so I waited in line after a sales rep put the perfume at the register. Even when it was our turn in line to check out, the folks at the register ignored us - as more customers picked out what they wanted, they were able to check out before us. Embarrassed and confused, we ended up leaving after about 30 minutes because it was clear that the folks here did not want us to shop there. Overall, embarrassing and confusing, go to literally any other Diptyque location or shop online if you're a twenty something POC - I wish I could say this was my Pretty Woman Julia Roberts moment, but honestly it just made me sad because I never did end up getting the perfume! Came here to sample the smells of the candles. I definitely did not want to purchase online until I smelled them in person. I purchased the New York candle since I was traveling here for pleasure and fit it fitting to add to my collection. Some of my favorite candles from Diptyque include the Roses and Baies collection. Will need to get the Mimosas one next time (fresh and floral). This location is very small. The salesperson was very attentive and helpful. I would come back again. I found out about the Diptyque 34 Bazaar event through a friends' FB feed and figured, why not check it out? I heard quite a lot about their candles and I have strolled by their store in NoLita a few times and was curious about the place. I stopped in this past week right when the event was getting started and found myself surrounded by food, drinks, DJ spinning beats and tons of lovely staff on hand to help out and answer your questions. The FB event was a bit confusing and I thought the first 50 people on hand would get a free prize and when I approached a sales associate, she said the FB event was a bit misleading. I must've looked like a lost puppy, because she then came back to me immediately with a small wrapped gift and said this was for me! Wow, that made me pretty happy and it was so unexpected. Some friends showed and they ended up buying a few things, and both of them looked quite happy. Great drinks on hand (jalapeno-infused tequila mixed with watermelon juice), yummy bites including avocado toast donated from Tartinery next door, Lombardi's pizza, and cupcakes from Little Cupcake Bakeshop. Wowsers, oh what fun. I did enjoy some of the scents including Feu de Bois "Gris" and also a personal roll-on fragrance L'Ombre. Great place to indulge on scents for the home, for yourself or a gift for someone. I'm sure to be back! read more

First of all, the candles are not cheap. But they burn clean all the way to the end, which none of the other candle brands have been able to achieve. Secondly, they smell amazing, I got one of their holiday scent during a sample sale and now I'm completed hooked. The salesperson at the store was very polite and helpful, I got two candles, one on the floral side and one on the more woody/earthy side. Again, both smell amazing! I have to say, what started out as a tragedy ended in such an amazing experience and all because of Michael. It all started a few days ago when I went in to redeem the store credit I incurred returning a gift for my mom (she wasn't into it). PLEASE if there's anything you do, please understand their in-store return policy. Because they won't tell you and it's pretty shocking. For one, you can only get store credit. Secondly, you can only redeem the credit at the store you returned the goods. So let's say you live say somewhere else and there's a closer diptyque, NOPE. Lastly, the store credit expires, EXPIRES. That's right, your own money expires into thin air if you do not redeem after a year. My problem that I experienced was it was right around covid lockdowns and the prince st store was closed for 3 months for renovations. Add all of that up and I landed in the store 1 day after the one year expiration. The store manager (I'll leave her name out) refused to let me use the store credit even though all of these rules are posted no where, and there were at least 6+ months where it was physically impossible for me to shop in the store. She said she was going to contact the headquarters to figure out if anything could be done. Her tone, demeanor, everything about the situation was so poor. I can't really explain into words but I have no clue how she's in a client service position, let alone a manager? huh? This whole situation felt off. She emailed me and said she would give me mini candles instead? Anyway, I go into the store to discuss the situation and thank god there was another manager named Michael. He was an absolute dream. I almost felt myself choke up having to describe the situation again to him. He didn't even hesitate, he gave me the candle that equally matched my store credit, included the mini candles as a thank you AND included a sample. I was floored. It was honestly beyond customer service but just being a good person. It was also like talking to someone who cared and understood the situation in it's entirety. Never had such a kind experience in my life. We have so much craziness going on, meeting people like that gives you some hope. Anyway, long winded way of saying thank you, Michael. Because of you I will not give up on Diptyque after this crazy experience! read more
