I appreciate the clear layout, the helpful staff who assisted us immediately, and the ability to try products on site. Despite the number of customers, the store feels professional and efficient. Passed by and saw a sign for January deals and decided to check it out. They have some of the good brands you see and hear about. There is an abundant amount of skin, hair and face care. I'm very disappointed in this location... I popped in on my way home from an event nearby as this location was conveniently located next to the train station I needed to take to get home. I had a list of items I needed to restock, all items I'd previously purchased, excluding a foundation primer. I was on the hunt for a new one as I didn't like the previous two brands that I tried out. As I was wandering around, looking obviously lost as I had no idea which brand to try this time, an employee spotted me and asked if I needed assistance. I was happy that she approached me because I desperately needed some help! I proceeded to tell her that I needed a new foundation primer, and that I liked First Aid Beauty's primer, but I noticed that they don't carry it anymore. She proceeded to hand me a moisturizer from the Caudalie brand and said that it was a foundation primer.... I reiterated that I needed a FOUNDATION PRIMER, and she assured me that this product was both a moisturizer and a primer. I was in a hurry so I went ahead and purchased it, attempting to read the info on the back but it was all in French. I trusted her, which I now completely regret. When I got home, I did some research before opening the product and it is NOT AT ALL what I was looking for... She sold me a straight up moisturizer when I needed a face primer. I have been shopping at Sephora for over 12 years now and I know the difference between these two product types - why doesn't the salesperson know this? Was she trying to pull a fast one on me and make a quick sale? Did she not know the difference? Did she think I was dumb and that I would not know the difference? Regardless, I'm pretty angry because now do I not only NOT have a foundation primer that I desperately need, but I also have to go back to a store to initiate a return... I will NOT be returning to this location again. Glad it's not close to where I live. Note to Sephora: train your salespeople to do better. Sephora has the worst and most confusing return policy. I accidentally ordered, online from Sephora website, the incorrect Shiseido product. The return policy said I could return to "any Sephora store". Thus, I drove to Sephora in a Kohl's store. They said you can only return Sephora purchases to that Sephora IF I bought it through the Kohl's/Sephora website. Then, I drove to a Sephora Store in the mall. But since I used PayPal for the purchase, they gave me a STORE Gift Card. "Can I use the gift card at any Sephora, even the one within Kohl's?" NO! "Can I use the Gift Card if I order from Sephora website?" NO! You can only use the Gift Card for an in-store purchase at a Sephora Store. So now I will need to drive 35 minutes back to the Sephora Store if I want to use the Gift Card. Unbelievable! In addition, this is THE ONLY STORE where I have used PayPal for a purchase and was not able to get a credit back to my PayPal account for a return. After I use the IN-STORE GIFT CARD, I will no longer be shopping at Sephora. Guess ULTA will now be my go-to store for beauty items. And another thing, I tried to write this review on the Sephora website and despite there being a webpage saying you can leave a review, all that there is there is verbiage for the "rules" for leaving a review but no way to actually leave a review. When she opened it, the tube was completely EMPTY. I contacted Sephora customer support, shocked and disappointed. Their reply? They told me that I should have returned the product within 14 days. So let me get this straight: Was I supposed to open my sister's gift before giving it to her to check whether the mascara was actually filled? This makes absolutely no sense. This wasn't a "change of mind" return -- it was a defective product and a quality control issue. For a brand like Sephora, this response is unacceptable. I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with the handling of a recent delivery issue and the unacceptable response I have received from Sephora's customer service team. Despite multiple attempts to resolve this matter through your standard channels, I remain without the products I ordered and without the refund I am rightfully owed. On August 25, 2025, I contacted Sephora's customer service line regarding a delivery notification from OnTrac. The notification included a photo of a package left in an unfamiliar, unsecured location--neither at my front door nor in the designated lockers provided by my building. I spoke with a representative named Kim, who assured me that the items would be resent and that USPS would be used as the carrier to prevent further issues. She also promised I would receive an email with updated delivery details. Instead, I received a generic email stating that no replacement would be sent and no refund would be issued. This directly contradicted the assurances I had been given and left me both disappointed and confused. I followed up with OnTrac via chat and SMS, but their responses were evasive and unhelpful. This is a very busy location. Most employees were friendly except for the one who checked us out. She asked us if we wanted a bag and we said yes. So when she just handed us the items not in a bag, we asked her for a bag. No big deal except that then she gave us attitude about it. All we wanted was a bag for our items. Why would you give the customer an argument? This store has a lot of items which is great and it was pretty crowded due to their sale (Depending on your level you could get 10-25 % off). So it was a good time to buy some items and utilize the benefits of the sale, but their employees need more training in customer service! read more

My daughter had a brand new gift card that she opened up in front of Sephora employee at the register and was told that there is nothing on the card on 1/24/26 on the 5th avenue NY. We checked with the place that we purchased the gift card and definitely the amount was there. Sephora and the same card was used on 1/26/26 online. I had the card and 100% couldn't use because the employee had scratched the code on the back so hard that I was no longer readable. Sephora at NY location refusing to investigate. My wife ( a melanated woman) went in to pick up an order. Aside from her order having cancelled items she didn't know about until arrival, a staff member made the experience EXTREMELY UNCOMFORTABLE. As my wife was standing in the same spot waiting for her order, another staff member who was about 10 feet away talking and cooing with a man and his baby (also melanated) proceeded to walk over to my wife to ask if that was her baby. 10 feet away- no indication of relation or familiarity to this man and his baby. But because the three were the only melanated people in the immediate vicinity,the assumption of them together proved something. The uncomfortableness was beyond measure. Worst Customer Service and Ethics ever! Zero stars if I could! No one to speak to settle things. I forgot to add a promo code and they said the order is being processed and there is no way to update it. So I have lost out on a free gift. Every other online company has a procedure for these types of errors. On another occasion the makeup palette I purchased irritated my eyes which would itch and water. The request to provide evidence involved me having to send in photos of my eyes amongst other requests. This is a deliberate way for them not to refund purchases. They don't take calls. There is zero care factor for the customer. I lodged a formal complaint and to date have not been contacted, not even an acknowledgment that my complaint had been received. I am a gold member and have spent so much money supporting this company. For them to cheat me out of a gift is unconscionable. From now on I'll be ordering directly from the brand websites. The service is usually stellar, but this time I tried pick-up. First, it's not clear at the outset where the pick-up area is upon entry. I went to the back where the registers are and was prepared to line up (no signage anywhere), only to find out when I asked the employee standing at the end of the line offering faster service with credit cards. She pointed vaguely to the front, and I had to ask her again. When I arrived at the spot, no one was there, and as a customer you could tell immediately why. The area was small AF: What employee would want to wait there in the glass storefront? Maybe they're not supposed to, they have to be on the floor until they are alerted by another employee but then the woman who arrived in turn had to call someone else who brought my item from the back. What are the storage cabinets for in that cramped little space if not for items like mine? They should absolutely rip those out to make that area look better. read more

I used to love Sephora. However, since they opened their stores in Kohls (and JC Penny's) I have had awful experiences. First of all we bought my father a sample cologne kit with a certificate for a full size bottle, that he was unable to redeem. When he took it to Sephora they would not redeem it because it was purchased at a JC Penny's Sephora. They closed all of their stores and he was out of luck. That was a couple of years ago. We do not live close to a free standing Sephora. Recently, for Mother's Day my daughter bought me the wrong perfume (online) and sent me the gift receipt. Sephora in Kohls would not take it back because it came from a free standing store. By the time I drove two hours to Dallas it was past the 30 days and I'm stuck with $160 perfume that I don't like. Do I fit the Sephora type? Sure don't. As a matter fact, the night I went into the store, I had a baseball cap on and a hoodie. I was comfortable. I walked into the store feeling a bit intimidated as I know nothing about makeup... and I own it. As I approached the front door to walk in, I couldn't help but notice through the front window, approximately 7,391 Sephora employees, all in black shirts and pants, standing toward the front of the store... I'm assuming they're ready, willing and able to help customers? Nope, nope... I was wrong. How do I know this? I walked around the store for at least 35 minutes and I'm quite sure I looked clueless the entire time. Long story short, not one employee came over to ask if I needed help - not one single person. With that, I obviously didn't make a purchase - I had no idea what I needed, what to buy, etc. I'll give Sephora the benefit of the doubt and assume that it was just an off day. I've visited the Harlem location on 05.09.25. The makeup artist I-Sha was rude, unprofessional, and became upset when I approached her regarding servicing my daughter for prom, because she didn't get started until nearly an half hour later. We've arrived five minutes prior to our scheduled appointment and she still didn't get started until nearly 30 minutes later. Throughout the duration of her doing my daughter's makeup her "friends/coworkers" kept coming up to her inquiring about makeup tips while she was servicing my daughter. I stopped by yesterday evening 6/23. It was a great experience from the greeter at the door, and throughout the store. It was clean (even with a crowd); the staff stayed on top of keeping displays neat. Everyone I encountered was very helpful. Special shoutout to the "Too Faced" representative that helped me on deciding between different mascaras and liquid liners. Also to the cashier that pulled me off the super long line; I was able to checkout at a booth which was a great help. I found exactly what I needed and it was a fun trip to the Soho location. She did a quick refresh for me after walking around the city in extreme heat and humidity on Wednesday, 8/22. She used Kat D powder instead of make up base which I came in to buy but they were out of stock. She cleaned my face and applied Kat B powder, did my eyebrows and used a brush to apply bronzer. I will never come to this store ever again because their staff including management doesn't know how to treat customers. They forgot that costumer must be treated with respect. The attitude of the workers is horrible, me being sweet to them didn't even help. They talk down on you. I'm in my 30s and a girl in her 20s talking to me like I'm a kid, not being shy to show her nasty attitude, calling me something like sweetie is absurd! Somehow she managed to make me feel like I was nobody while she was my boss whom I had to fear. The manager doesn't even know how to introduce herself, no name, no who she was there. She also has negative, "I'm sick of everything" type of attitude. Someone from above has to come and REMIND all of them that customer is important, must be treated with respect. Our first day in SOHO for our vacation and we stopped by this store. Very excited to see products we don't normally see in San Antonio where I live. Love the display at the front of the store and just the variety of products. I had seen the Innisfree today for the first time and was intrigued that it's from Korea. The sampler box is very reasonably priced at $18 for the Pore-clarifying mask, Hydrating serum and Firming Cream. Looking forward to trying these! Love their newly renovated store in Soho; Sephora is now bigger and brighter! It's crowded and busy as heck in there, like always. But today my cashier happens to be cheerful and full of positive vibes, which I appreciate! They have so many new products with names I've never heard of, and prices are insane $$$! I need to know whether these products works or not on my skin before buying them, and trying once right there on the spot is not enough. They need to start being more generous with their samples because the last thing I want is to spend $$$$ on something that does nothing for me. One of my favorite products from Sephora is their Urban Decay pencil eyeliner Zero. I strongly recommend this specific eyeliner to everyone. It's $21 now, and I've been using it for 9 years (since 2010). Another favorite is their Anastasia Brow Wiz Chocolate. It's easy to use and the color matches my hair. I actually get all my makeups from Sephora, nowhere else. It's my go-to makeup and perfume place. I have a lot of points in my card; been saving for 9 years but their gifts for redemption kind of sucks. And they don't mail me a postcard to pick up my birthday present anymore :( But I still appreciate Sephora for being one of a kind so I'm giving them 5 stars! read more
