Duquesne Light called me to ask if I was happy. And every single customer service experience I've had since has been the most compassionate and stellar anywhere. And I'm a retired Customer Service Rep. I was so impressed I sent a snail mail paper thank you note to them.

The refund is basically in limbo and I spent three hours on the phone with West Penn and asked for employee numbers and a confirmation number - I was told to hold on and then a recording came on and then the system hung up. I was given the number and address for the public utility commission by their employees but they were wrong. I am very frustrated.

I recently switched to Columbia Gas and talked to a representative over the phone to understand my first bill. The call was taken quickly with little to no wait time and the operator was extremely friendly and thorough explaning the various charges. While that conversation was happening, I remembered that there was a light odor under the range when I opened the cabinet doors. If you do not already know, natural gas in its pure form is odorless so gas companies add an odorant to the gas to give it a distinct smell, usually similar to rotten eggs or sulfur. The rep immediately acted on that and dispatch personnel to the house. As soon as I got off the line regarding my bill, the guys were already pulling up! What a shock to see such a fast response! Not only did they confirm that there was a minute leak, they did the simple fix that removed that issue altogether! Thanks so much to them for fabulous customer service!

Market Square is a public space in the downtown area with a variety of shops and restaurants…read moresurrounding it. It was recently renovated just in time for the NFL Draft to allow more accessibility and better space for events. In the public area, there are some tables and chairs to sit and enjoy the area. They also seem to plan to have a lot more semi-permenant attractions in the space. Currently their is a roller rink (which is surprisingly affordably priced) . It has historically been home to the Holiday Market (which was moved into the theater area this year because of the construction). I hope the market does move back because Market Square was definitely the better space for it. There is plenty of parking nearby in garages, surface lots and street parking. The one downside is that it is really tough to drive through, especially with the way the renovated it. Drivers seem to be stopping to take in the new look or don't understand directional signage so there is often traffic backups.

The square has a covered area now too, with lots of seating so it can be enjoyed year round. There's so many great restaurants and cafes around the square, and there's expanded outdoor dining at a lot of the restaurants, as well.
