IN MY AREA IN MICHIGAN DIRECT TV Repairman do not work on weekends. My service went out twice in the last month on Friday Night. When Sattelite is lost it switches to Internet which is great except they shut it off after 12 hours. Why? Who knows.? So for 2 weekends in the last month I had no TV. DO NOT GET!! Had trouble for the few months with internet. Called to have it looked at and was told if they came in it would cost $150.00. This is after the equipment was dropped off and we had to install it ourselves. Later the internet went out (Att) who Direct TV partners with and had to wait 3 days. Know that this service was for an 84 year old man who lives alone. When I called to cancel the service they charged him $255.00. Bad business!!! You call and you talk to somebody in India named Steve who has only one purpose in life within this company, constant transfers and a problem you will never actually be solved unless you talk to a manager in America. This is now the third time they have charged me for cinemax or HBO when I did not agree to have them install it on my television as a 3 month free trial. After three months they start charging you if you don't call to cancel and I am aware of this therefore I always say no but since they are apparently commission based these scumbags still say you say yes. You also cannot call them after either 8 or 9 local time which is ridiculous considering ob viously seeing that it is in India they are still in prime working hours. Only giving 1 star became i have to so this posts.... Directv is terrible in every way. We had service at my house for years but I needed to put it in my name. They shut down the old account on Wednesday and came out Friday to hook up my service. After hooking everything up he said he couldn't get dish to connect so he left. I was on with customer service Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We had another appointment Monday. We sat and waited and no show no call. I call customer service and was on hold for an hour for the girl to put me on hold then hang up on me. I signed a 3 yr agreement to save $50 a month over cable. I would pay $1000 to get back to cable if not for all the early termination fees. Their customer service is the worst I have every experienced. It could 1-4 days for a service call, even if your service is 100% out. DIRECT TV USES FALSE ADVERTISING AND IMMORAL BUSINESS PRACTICES!!! After refusing to pay an small charge of $22, which was for eroneous billing DIRECT TV found an old checking account number of my ex-wife's and processed the charge. I had written them a letter on hard copy, explaining and had responded to their phone calls, some of which were made during evening hours. Had a service call thought I could fix why my dvr freezes while watching recordings their answer is to switch out boxes lose ALL recordings! My experience/nightmare with Direct TV I am on disability and was looking to save money by switching to Direct TV. They quoted me an exceptional price so I called back 3 times and spoke to 3 different people to make sure it was correct. When the first bill arrived it was more than twice what was quoted. They had partnered with AT&T and neither was willing to make the price offered,,good-so I cancelled both Direct TV and AT&T. They both lost my business. Their installer did a particularly sloppy job. Put the dish up crooked, excessive amounts of wire everywhere, holes in my siding (I was never given an option as to where "I" wanted the dish installed), complete waste of My time and MY effort, and extremely lousy reception. I went up to the drug store and got a $15 rabbit ears antenna so I would at least have one TV I could watch. It was summer and good weather, so they could not blame the bad reception on that. A senior installer came to try and resolve the problems (more of my time wasted). He told me the original installer did a bad job installing-I already guessed that, and he tried to correct things. I had already called my old cable company to reconnect-did not need this aggravation/stress that Direct TV was causing. I have my health to consider. Since I am disabled, TV is a large part of my life because I don't get around well. I need a system I can rely on and it certainly is NOT Direct TV. I sent Direct TV a bill for my charges. Someone to take down their unsightly equipment, repair holes in siding etc. They have not paid this bill. They have sent me a bill SEVERAL times to pay for their lousy service. Quite telling, they want the customer to pay their bill, but Direct TV won't pay their own bills. Direct TV is an embarrassment to the industry. They don't appreciate customers or value having jobs. I just moved to another state, I was setting up my new DirecTV/ATT and was going to get a 50 percent discount, then she asked if I had had it before I thought I might get an added bonus. I told her I did and had just shut it off a couple weeks ago. She then told me my bill would double because I was not a NEW customer per their rules. We decided to try Direct TV almost a year ago. We were promised free HBO for three months. Three days after we got the Direct TV installed, they cancelled their contract with HBO. Now, just recently they cancelled WKBN which is a channel we watch regularly. In attempting to see what we needed to do to get out of the contract, as we feel this is a breech of contract, by canceling one of the main channels, my husband was given the run around as they claimed there was no account and then they couldn't get into the account. I absolutely hate the cable company we have. Left DIrectv when I moved to switched to TWC. The worst decision I ever made. So I decided to go back to Directv. Went online and you cannot order online any more if you had service previously. So i called in and asked for a quote for service. I also asked for internet bundle. After going through adjusting address and all i get asked for my SS number to see if I qualify for service. I said that I had not been given a quote for the service yet, but the stated they needed my social to see if I qualify for the rates they have. I refused. Even for a cell contract, you can get pricing before you get a credit check. That information you do not need to offer a price. I used to love Directv, but now under AT&T, I pass. Omg! I have nowhere to begin. After being placed on hold for 18 minutes I got as customer service representative. She placed me on hold for another 28 minutes. and stated basically that she was unable to assist with my problem, when she got back to me. Wasted time! I called back. Just about the same response, asked for a supervisor, placed on hold for 12 minutes only to be told that the supervisor was busy with another customer for another 5 to 10 minutes, And if she could assist me. I explained I wanted a call back from the supervisor. She said she could get him to call back that night or the next morning. They are billing me for services that I do not want, never asked for, for an extra remote and box that I do not have. Also for HD Services which I cannot get with my TV which I never asked for. Lost service 100%, 3 TVs no signal. Just upgraded a month or so ago, had an appointment the day after the call.... this time 7 days until I can get service back. Monthly bill is in the 140 a month range, yet only getting a $20 credit, that I had to fight for the extra day. You are fixing it around 6 PM, yes I want credit for that day too!!!!!! After canceling Direct TV due to rising costs, I was told that I had to go on the roof and remove the satellite dish myself and haul it to UPS. I received no instructions written or verbal on what exactly to do and how to do it. My dish was mounted within inches of the power line serving my home. If you are not buying your Directv directly from Directv then you need to know this. It is a waste of time, energy and money when buying Directv from some electronics store. The sales person is never right when it comes to Directv or any satelite company. They will tell you what they want you to know. Here is something that you need to know. For anyone who is buy satelite for your home or busnesses you need to know that you may not get what you want. The sale persons are not technicians or satelite installers and do not have all the details. First and for most you will need a DIRECT LINE OF SITE. That means that if your property is surrounded by trees you may not be able to get Directv. 2) if you live in an apartment building and you are on the wrong side where the dish cannot be tuned in you may not be able to get Directv. 3) Just because the sales person tells you that there are many satelites to be used Directv is limited to what satelite they can tune into. This goes for other satelite tv providers. Plus there are custom charges for extra work that you may need done to ensure the quality of your services. Nothing is for free. Get your info straight from Directv installer and not the sales rep. in the store. read more

First I have to say the service is spotty at best ! Sometimey demand channels and even worse internet connection (wifi) my review is simple I am a loyal customer I went to direct tv after being A time warner cable customer because of their terrible service so I decided to switch to DIRECTV / At&T , firstly I pay my bill monthly only time like most and if I pay a day or so late I pay the late fee. This time around w some much going on we forgot to pay the bill. Ok boom ! Services disconnect. Ok call them up and pay. Oh ! And that was no easy task I'll explain why - I pay with my checking account online bill pay. Now I understand some folks are not hip to online bill pay but I tell them I've paid through my account you guys should receive payment by Monday can you restore my service no ma'am we can not why not we need a payment first ma'am. Ok payment was sent the same way it's always sent can you look to see ? No ma'am we can not. So after 3 failed attempts to DIRECTTV REPS on three separate occasions no one could or should I say would help me I called my bank cancelled the bill pay went on their site paid directly - WAHLA service restored ! Ok great .... I get home to watch demand. Its not working call tech support help I can't watch demand says I'm not subscribed - is there a message on the screen ? No. does it say anything yeah says I'm not subscribed. well we don't know why it's not working is your internet working AH-HA ! Internet isn't working !! Reboot guess what !? Demand still doesn't work call tech support again .... oooh same questions they don't know how to fix so I give up ! I hung up and just didn't watch tv. (That I just paid for ) Fast forward 4 days later I get my new bill in the mail and it is 60 dollars more than usual.... now why is this ... RESTORATION FEE ! Do not sign up for Direct TV. They are dishonest about prices! I was promised $300 in rebates and never got them. The first call I was told it would take 2-3 months for rebates to come. When I called 31/2 months later I was told that I missed the deadline to get rebates. We were told that we would get an additional $10 off b/c a current customer referred us (he was also supposed to get $10 off) neither of us ever did. They have raised rates and no longer offer the Weather Channel. I also got WIFI through direct TV. I was not told that after 2 months of paying my bill through automatic billing to dierct tv that my entire bill would be transferred to AT&T who consequently charged me a late fee. I was sent 2 wireless modems and charged $100 for the extra one. I was promised on 3 separate occasions that I would get a mailing label to return it and after 6 months it still has yet to arrive. I was also told that I would get FREE on demand programming but my boxes were never connected to the internet and the very unhelpful customer service rep told me that if there is not a phone jack near my satellite box that I cannot get this service, this was not told to us when we signed up. Every time it snows heavily (which in NE Ohio is quite often) we lose signal sometimes until snow melts or husband climbs on roof with broom. Do yourself a favor and avoid this SCAM! read more

Had been a DirecTV customer since 2008, heaven knows why. Started out paying 80.00/month and over the years jumped 62% to $137.00/month practically the same service. From the beginning, there were several issues. For starters, the DVR and remote never responded as I would expect, that is I would press a button and get a response. No I would press a button on the remote(brand new batteries) and the screen guide would freeze, for 30 seconds to a minute thinking about how it would like to be with another TV provider, or be set free to run with the other remotes and DVR's. Next is the reception, I was told I had the best reception/bars/signal strength the tech had ever seen. First rain, lost signal, first snow, lost signal, the dish heard thunder in the distance, lost signal, my dog farted lost signal. Upgraded to Genie, the wireless/wired boxes (yes they still used the coax cable), was a debacle. The boxes lost contact with the server on more then several occasions, the last time being when DirecTV was bought by AT&T. I go in the basement, to watch the CAVS on my 120' big screen that has been in and working on DirecTV for 3 years, and I get an error stating I need to change my HD cable to Component cables due to the programs security settings. WHAT THE FU&%??? Get on the phone with the stellar DIrecTV support person, and she asks have you tried composite cables?? I snapped, lost my freaking mind for a moment then asked to be transferred to the cancellation department, 5 minutes later I am no longer a DirecTV customer. Long story short, after 8 years, roughly $12,000 or more lighter in my bank account for less then excellent service/reliability/support and I am out. Not one more dime to DirecTV. Now have $44.00/month for Playstation VUE, Kodi on Amazon FireStick, and I am reusing my DirecTV dish to attach an HD antenna directed at our local stations. i had directv when it first came out. it was great then. i used it at my campground. i acquired a 2nd dish so i could just take the receiver with me every weekend and install with a simple cable wire and 120v. i havent had service for 20 years mind you and i dont know what changes have occurred. however, today i wanted to do the same thing (got a new camper) so i decided to inquire as to moving receivers and such. the sales team has NO CLUE....they have an rv dept called winegard (which isnt a directv/att company) i talked to them and noone can agree that i can still take my dish and receiver with me wherevere i go and it will work....... i spent hours and hours and hours ordering and cancelling and ordering and cancelling since i was told many different things and many different prices and on and on........that was thursday, today is monday (when winegard is open) and i still have no clue if you can buy/rent an extra dish and receiver and make it work under your home address dish. BUT IMPORTANTLY FOR ANYONE THAT MAY BE HAVE THE SAME AMBITION...!!!!*** **** IF YOU RV OR TRAVEL WITH DISH...******.....*****........ you will NOT be able to view ANY channels that broadcast in HD.......im uncertain if that is ONLY with the dishes that winegard sells or that includes any dish i can acquire (that noone can tell me if that even works....) but the sales team is clueless.....tech support is clueless winegard is clueless AND THIS IS THEIR BUSINESS......????????
