DIRECTV has met its demise and are cash grabbing as much as they can as their ship sinks into oblivion. Streaming won't save them because of their outsourcing Customer service to Asia and beyond. As a loyal DIRECTV customer, I carried my service from townhouses to a home since 2014. It kept going down hill, losing the only channels I watched and losing my local channels for months on end because they were too stingy to pay the networks to keep them. When I was down to 1 channel. I cancelled. They left me on and kept billing me. I did this 3 times and decided to pay to the end of the current month only so it couldn't roll into the next. May 2024 was current and covered until 5/31. They cut off my service May 12. Now the 3rd world country is calling my cell demanding payment for May and June. They can pound sand. It sounded far-fetched, but I gave her the benefit of the doubt. 10/24 - As anticipated, no response. Called again and spoke with Sierra who again, was of no use. I asked to AGAIN speak with a supervisor. After waiting for 1 hour 27 minutes (stupid me) with her coming back on the line every so often to assure me that the supervisor was coming, she disconnected the call. I guess that was her way of letting me know that a supervisor wouldn't be coming after all. Right back at you AT&T/DirectTV. Giving DirecTV one star since we really liked their DVR feature, however their customer service is horrible! We moved from a condo where we had started our service in September of 2019 and no dish was necessary. When we moved in May of 2020, the service tech installed our existing equipment along with the dish which is a requirement for DirecTV service. After calling a few days ago to cancel our service and pay the reminder of our installments, we were informed that our contract wasn't up until May of 2022. Apparently moving our service and needing the dish automatically extends your contract another 2 years but no one verbally communicates this, it's in the tiny print on the paperwork you sign AFTER the installation has completed. I signed up for DIRECTV stream I was told that I would get all the local channels and I called because I wasn't getting MTV and they told me it's not offered in my ZIP Code I get it on my antenna wasn't told that when they sold me the service I do not recommend this service because they will lie to you sell you sell a service. Constant calls for their "promotions" to their completely overpriced service that they advertise to look relatively cheap. Customers since 2011. We were always satisfied with them until our genie receiver failed. After a dozen phone calls and two lost orders, we finally got a replacement today. We called to activate the receiver and the receiver number didn't match the number in their system. They couldn't simply fix the error on their end so now they are sending out a technician... In three days. So now we have to take time off from work because these jack wads can't get their shit together. Their customer service is awful! Nothing but reading from scripts and hours on hold. My advice: get you service someplace else. read more

DirectV Des Moines somehow allowed someone to take a fraudulent account in my name. I have never had an Directv account and I live on the West Coast. I have the name and address where the thieves are getting serivce but no one at Directv will give me any information since the account does not use my full name (it is a hybrid of my name and something else) nor my real address. They did confirm my social security number is being used on this account though. I would not want to do business with a place that makes it easy for criminals but will not give any assistance to crime victims. read more

I live for TV! I don't like the idea of the storms you usually lose service but I've learned a trick or two on that one! I have a separate antenna on my TV along with the cable running to my dish and it helps with the pick up when there's a storm! I went through their 800 number to get service because at the store they seem to confuse me! They are quick to help you efficiently and fast! Don't know that I would go back to Mediacom: as long as they keep me happy with their service I'm okay! The price of it is fair I just wish that they would give me the NFL package all the time for not so much money! But I still get to see my teams I'm a big football fanatic and I love my baseball! I hope they keep up the good work and keep us going to be able to watch our TV when we need it. And I also love my news and weather. read more

We were supposed to receive a $200 Visa gift card for signing up and we never did. We placed several phone calls and have spent several hours talking with different people all pointing us in different directions. The last call we made the person said they show we received the Visa gift card, so they gave us another number to call. When we tried the new number there was no answer by anyone. Very frustrating and disappointing. I would not recommend anyone be enticed by their gift card offer, because chances are you will not receive it. read more

I stated various reason why I did not want DirecTV, and the rep yelled at me for being "ignorant" in front of the crowd as we walked away. When I moved into my apartment I called Direct TV 15 times over a span of 2 weeks and never once spoke to a real person nor did I receive a call back. Finally when I spoke to a person he was not very helpful. Since I have had Direct TV installed, our TV box does not work very well, but I'm not even going to try and contact them about it because it's just to much of a hassle. Had terrible customer service from day one. In my initial 45 minute phone conversation, I was told several things that have since been debunked. The order that the customer service representative (Bobby) put into the computer was wrong, so my quoted bill was incorrect. He also issued me the wrong equipment and did not include a second tv, like we discussed multiple times during that 45 minute call. For these reasons, the monthly bill that he quoted me was lower than it is now. Also, he told me I could bundle my internet and wireless services through my current companies. I've contacted both of those companies and they told me that was incorrect. Bobby also told me that I would be eligible for new customer promotions in two years when my current contract expires, but given that several other things he told me were wrong, I will go ahead and assume he's wrong about this too. When I found a Bed Bath and Beyond offer that was presented to my wife between the time that we ordered service and the time that the tech came out to install, I was told I could not take advantage of it because we were considered current customers. I was told that after another 35-45 minutes of being transferred between five phone reps and about as many phone numbers. The only reason we signed up with this awful company is because they have a monopoly on the NFL Sunday Ticket. I've been reading and hoping that soon, the NFL will break up this package and just offer it over streaming services without having to purchase additional garbage from a company with terrible customer service and uninformed employees. Very frustrating to be lied to from the start. *Update 8.22.15* Just received my second bill via email. They have a habit of charging my credit card BEFORE they even send me my bill, which is frustrating. Also, I am opted into a protection plan for another $7.99 per month, which not only protects me should their equipment fail, but also allows me to upgrade equipment when I sign a new two year agreement in another 23 months. I cannot decline the protection plan. What a load. This company keeps getting worse.
