I am not one who writes reviews but I absolutely have to after the evening I spent on the phone with DirectTV!
Problem 1:
I have had their service since September 2015 and since then, NOTHING has been constant. I started out telling them I needed the bill to be "due" on the 5th of the month. I was then told I would have to call, every single month to have this change take place. I was never told you had to call before a certain time, but one month I forgot and I was told that they couldn't change the date because I didn't call within 48 hours before The bill was due. Last month the rep told me that I needed to "cancel the auto draft, pay my bill when I needed to (by the 5th), then call back to put the auto draft back on. After all this was done, in a timely manner, I would NOT be charged for the $10 credit from the auto draft." Well, I tried to call for 3 days when/after I paid my bill and guess what, as you know, you can NOT get anyone to answer the phone!!!! After the 3rd day, I finally got them to add back on the auto draft and was told that the bill would remain the same, what it was supposed to originally be. And as you guessed it, the bill was for $10 MORE!!!!!
Problem 2:
I started out in September 2015 with the $19.99 package. Like anyone, I ask BEFORE I sign anything, "What will the bill be? Will it go up?" And like always, they fluff saying, "No ma'am" Well, month 1, I paid the correct total. Month 2,3&4, the bill had went up. Me being one who doesn't usually check statements, paid $36.33 without thinking. After month 4 I decided to find out why the bill wasn't what it was supposed to be and guess what, they had ADDED a "service protection plan" for an additional $8/month that I DID NOT AGREE TO!!!!!! After I called about that one, the man apologized and said that because a technician had to come out and fix the dish because we lost signal for NO REASON, they added the protection plan, which is re-occurring monthly fee, instead of just letting me know there would be a $50 charge for him coming out!!!! I would have gladly paid the $50 fee instead of being charged for something I DID NOT AGREE TOO!!!
Problem 3:
Dis-satisfied with the programming. Well as you all know, DirectTV has a LOT of channels...But what you may not know is that the majority of the channels are DUPLICATES!! Did you know you can watch IoN on channel 38 AND 305?? There are several duplicate channels, which takes up a lot of guide! 3/4 of our guide (and I've "hid all the channels we don't get), is nothing but channels WE CAN'T GET!!!! SURPRISE!!! I don't think so.
Problem 4:
Customer Service is a HUGE joke!!!!! Aside from the fact they put you on hold for a ridiculous amount of time, after you hold for 20 minutes to even speak to someone, being put on hold mid sentence really is NOT a good idea for "customer service"! I made a call today which lasted a total of 86 mins and 37 secs, all of which we actually talked to someone for maybe a total of 30 mins if that! I went thru the chain of command, 3 people, the last told me she was "as high as it goes", to tell them (started in a calm manner), I was highly disgusted with their service and wanted to cancel everything. I did not want them to "fix anything" because they've not been able to fix anything since day 1. I was told that I would be charged $350 for "early termination" because it's only been 5 months of our 2-year agreement. I was told that in the "FINE PRINT" i would have seen that. After the 86 min conversation, the total cancellation fee went from $350 to $480!!!!! We were LIVID!!!!
Solution:
I don't care how ridiculous the "customer may be" or "irate" for that matter, in the business world, the customer IS always right! I was talked to like I was a 5 year old and the 'highest authority' was trying to explain to my husband how 8+12 is 20, in a degrading fashion, (he is a college grad and a ECO. TEACHER who knows simple math), so needless to say he was NOT happy!!! I was cut off mid sentence when she asked me to explain my "Problem", and she told me I needed to learn how to have an "adult conversation" and I was put on HOLD 3 times within ten minutes when I was trying to explain my situation. I don't know who to contact from here but rest assured, I will find out. DirectTV has NOT heard the last from this customer. I will explain to them how their "advertising" and most of all, their Mission Statement is FALSE advertising because not only do you NOT get what you pay for, nor do you pay what you first agreed to, nor can you trust that there will be NO 'hidden charges'. They have done NOTHING to ensure our satisfaction from day 1 and I do NOT want to continue their service but I refuse to pay the "cancellation charge" that is RIDICULOUS!!!!
Read their "Who are We" insert from their website and make your own opinions before you agree to anything!!!
(I tried to post it here but apparently have ran out of space!!!!)
Sincerely,
