They did not rake and break my hair with a fine toothed comb. I left with what can only be described as a mullet, strands that were far too long and awkward to wear down, with no shape, no balance, and no styling. It was uneven in the back (the hairstylist, Emily, didn't even cut all the strands - she just snipped once at like two pieces?? It was so weird), My hair was so botched that my sister said it looked worse than when I tried to cut my own bangs in second grade. I told the stylist I was unhappy before I left the salon (I was in tears. I got into my car and literally cried), but she shrugged and vaguely offered to "fix it" within a week. I sat in the chair and said several times, hey this is not what I was looking for. I had reference photos that were as close to my hair type as possible. She kept kind of shrugging and ignoring me. As a small business owner and mom of two, I didn't have time to come back as it was also the week of the 4th of July. I've spent every single day since wearing a hat or a headband. The cost was over $100 to get my hair butchered, and I felt obligated to tip, despite feeling uncomfortable and dissatisfied. In retrospect, obviously I should not have. I followed up right away via email, sent photos, and tried to communicate. The salon owner, Rachelle, responded a couple of times, I responded back with times that worked for me to come in for her to fix it, and then she just stopped responding completely. Mistakes happen, but how a business handles them matters. The lack of urgency, accountability, or a clear solution made a frustrating experience worse. I'm still out the money and now have to pay another salon to fix it. The attached picture is from immediately after my appointment. As you can see, nothing was styled and my hair is exponentially worse than when I stepped into The Studio. Who would walk into a salon and ask for the awkward growing-out-bangs stage for a haircut??? Horrible.

I used to be one of those people that insists that it's cheaper to do my own hair. Notice I said "used to be". Normally I'd bleach my hair at home, color it every couple weeks or month depending on what mood I was in. At one point, I even had dreadlocks. Which over the years & in the end.. took a nasty toll on my hair. I finally decided to let it be healthier & try to better my ways. This being, letting a professional handle it. Anyways, my cousin had told me about this salon - she has been coming here for a long time. I reached out to Tiffany for a consultation. Although embarrassed, I told her about all of my past & recent hair mistakes. I did want some coloring done - my hair was covered in dark box dye with some bright red underneath it somewhere. I knew my hair was damaged, but as a priority, still needed a cut regardless. She helped me make an appointment to visit as soon as possible. On arrival, I was greeted by her assistant Madie. Super nice & smiley - which I loved. She guided me to the chair & put my cape on. She even offered me a beverage. I was already loving this place. Tiffany greeted me shortly after - also, super nice & friendly. At this moment, I loved everyone's personalities. Tiffany cut my hair & Madie had washed and styled it. Both of the ladies were very informative & explained every step they did along the way. I left with a fresh do & an appointment for color! About a week later, I returned for color. A fresh balayage. Tiffany knew about the dark box dye & underlying red color on my hair. We went over a few photos I had picked out. Dissected them together, figuring out what would work best for me. I went into this journey knowing that we might not be able to lift my hair to be as light as I picked out - I was okay with that. I really appreciated the time they put into helping me understand everything. Madie & Tiffany both worked on my hair as a team & conquered it. In the end, with a few processes and treatments later.. we were able to get a fall inspired color (much lighter than anticipated). We named it "pumpkin chai". In the future, I can return to have it lightened further. For now & for fall tho.. I'm gonna leave it be. I'm very happy with my experiences at Vivid. Their knowledge and expertise is far beyond other salons. They're constantly furthering their skills whenever possible. Which is super important to me. Staying on top of current trends, colors or processes - is how you stay the best! I would recommend anyone to give them shot.
