Tried this place twice and it's just average. It has plenty of towels, available wash stations, friendly staff. On the downside, the shampoos are all watered down. It was impossible to really clean a large dog with the watered down supplies. It's also priced higher than other places. read more

If you're in downtown Austin, you really can't beat the convenience of Dirty Dog (in a space with Austin Urban Vet and doggie day care. You can board your dog or take him to day care and bring home a clean pooch! We use full service, too, but after a morning at Lady Bird Lake, the self service was the need today. Sometimes the groomers have an attitude about logistics but overall they like dogs and do a good job. Our 80lb golden was $18 for self serve but then again he used a LOT of shampoo! This review is for the grooming. I have taken Dolly to several of the other Dirty Dog's around Austin and I wanted to take her here because her vet is the fabulous Dr. Homburg whose vet office adjoins this Dirty Dog facility. I have taken Dolly here a few times since they opened. She is a medium sized (13 lb) cockapoo, with more poodle type hair. I don't have any major complaints about the grooming she received as she always looks nice; my issue is with the pricing. This location uses more than one groomer. Even though Dolly is a regular the pricing isn't consistent. Example, I had the groomer give her a bath a few months ago and they charged $35. Just last month in January I took her in for a groom (meaning regular hair cut, they had to re-shape her tail because it was slightly matted) and the charge was $45. Today I took her back for just a bath and they charged me $43. I was NOT a happy camper. I asked the girl why did I get charged $43 for just a bath when last month I did the full groom and was charged $45? Plus I did a bath for Dolly before at this place and it was only $35? She stated that I had a different groomer this time. Bottom line is that it sounds like the groomer can charge what they want which does not make for consistent pricing nor does it make for good business. There was nothing extra dirty about Dolly or anything that would mean they would need to charge any different. She is the same dog each time. Be aware of this system if you are thinking of getting your animal groomed here. read more

Avoid this place. They have made two appointments with me, and stood me up both times. The first time they claimed I did not have an appointment. I did. The second time, nobody picked up the phone. I called 4 times in almost 30 minutes. Nothing. What dreadful customer service! People should not support this kind of business. read more

I used to take my Schnoodle here since it is attached to my Vet office. Much like other complaints we never had the same groomer and prices all over the place. I'm not picky about her cut but she always looked like a different dog. The bad review is for booking. I'd try to call no answer and no call back. So I submitted the online request. They responded via email saying my preferred date was full but offered an alternative date. I accepted that date only to get another email saying it was now full and I should call to schedule. When I responded I have called and not been called back and always get the machine they had nothing to say. Great customer service for a regular, well tipping customer. Shame on you Dirty Dog. Couldn't you have held the spot for me? Get your shit together and get a real on-line booking/answering service that handles all locations. Shocking solution I know. read more

We have utilized Dirty Dog's self serve tubs in the past and we have gotten our dog's nails trimmed here before. Today, however, we used Dirty Dog for our toy poodle's full groom. Calais was Rusty's groomer and she did a fantastic job. She did just what we discussed and the price was right about what we expected. She is very professional and genuinely concerned about you and your pets needs. She takes the time to ask questions and listens to ensure she understands! This is part of Austin urban vet building. We called last minute for next day appointment. They cared for our pets as if they were their own. The staff was so friendly, and you could tell completely cared for and loved animals, most of them even brought their own pets to work! The dogs smelled amazing after their baths, and our dirtiest dog even LOOKED better! His coat was shiny and clean! read more

Kind of over this place. It's been decent for Leo for years. However the last e patience was very poor. I think the girl was very inexperienced and actually didn't trim Leo's nails vet well already too long after less than 3 weeks). I called and Niki told me the manager Jasmin would call first thing in the morning. I am going out of town and I don't want poor Leo to have paw pain for a couple weeks until I get home, so time is of the essence. I patiently waited for a call today. Finally at 2pm I called and the manger has gone for the day and no one there has a lot experience. I want someone that knows what they are doing after this situation with an inexperienced person. I get to choose between someone with a month or 6 months experience or make Leo wait 2 more weeks. Bottom line, this place is okay. Now pretty unhappy with the customer service. There are far better places in austin to take your pup. read more

Love this place!! I have a timid and difficult to groom schnauzer and wire haired terrier cross who has been shunned from a number of pet groomers (including Petsmart and Petco) due to the difficulty of his grooming... Dirty dog has been a blessing! They are calm and understanding and so patient. I dropped my dog off this morning for the 5-6th time with Dirty Dog and this time they called to let me know they think they found a technique that works with him. If you have a Schnauzer or any other dog that requires a special cut, stay away from Dirty Dog. Their groomers are not experienced at all AND they always have new groomers' onsite. I tried to give them many changes and took my dog here for 1 year and never saw the same groomer twice. A place with such high turnover of their employees, high prices and poor quality service should be avoided at all costs. read more

I look at yelp often but don't leave reviews. But my experience was so negative, I could not ignore it. I went to the 5th Street location on a Sunday. The customer service I received left a foul taste in my mouth. It was so horrible, I didn't use any of their services. When the girl spoke to me, she said "Who are you?" instead of may I help you. When I asked if any appointments were available, she sighed and said "I have three dogs today". I mentioned that I had not been there before, and was not sure of the procedure. Her response was to tell me to book an appointment online. I had in fact already tried to do just that. The website has errors when trying to select a date. Click on the calendar & it takes you to a spam page. And there wasn't a proper drop off time for the day I selected. Her response was "I'll let my boss know." She did not offer to make a future appointment or offer to explain how the self services work. I wanted to give the place a chance. I called on Monday to discuss the situation. I asked if a manager was available, her immediate response was no. I asked when a manager might be available she said she didn't know. I pushed the issue and only then did she ask why I was calling. I said I wanted to speak with a manager regarding a customer service issue. I spoke with the manager. I described the employee from Sunday as I did not get her name. She listened to my complaint and said she'd look into it. At this point I became angry. There was no apology, no "That's not the way we do business". No offer to make an appointment. I'm not looking for free or discounted services. And would never accept them in connection to a complaint. I simply wanted good service. I pointed this out and Laura replied that she would find out which employee it was and "talk to them". Still no attempt to keep my business. I came in to be a first time customer. Perhaps they have enough customers and don't need new ones. I'll continue to drive to Round Rock for grooming. read more

Unfortunately, I can't give these guys the best review. This is the first place I ever took my dog to get groomed so honestly, I just didn't know any better back then. Since then, I've been to much better places. There were a couple mishaps to speak of here. I booked them for a bath and to do his nails right after they opened. When I got there the door was locked. I waited. A while. That was whack. Eventually I got ahold of someone on the phone. I think the problem was something like - they were running late. K. They bathed him! Yay! That was great. They couldn't figure out how to dry him off so they crated him (no bueno for this guy at the time) and stimuli a fam on him. I consider that to be the low bar for how a groomer dries a dog. Not saying it isn't common for groomers, just saying - it's weak. They called me saying they weren't going to be able to do his nails because one of the groomers forgot the battery or something for the nail tool. I offered to bring mine, headed down there, they resolved their nail tool problem, but my dog wasn't having it with getting his nails trimmed so it was a bust nonetheless. Not a terrible place. My dog didn't get any communicable diseases and came away washed. However, I've had better experiences elsewhere, since. It also wasn't super easy to get an appointment here at the time. I love the Dirty Dog! Today was my first experience with their grooming services. I have two dogs one is a yorkie pomeranian and a lab rot retriever mix.. total opposites in grooming needs and at past groomers have always done great on one or the other never both. My dogs were LONG over due for nails, bath ect and the team at Dirty Dog were amazing very friendly, helpful and informative.They did a great job of taking care of my separation anxiety pack of pups,they treated them as if they were their own kids! Quick, thorough and attentive to their needs. I will absolutely be bringing my dogs back and would recommend the Dirty Dog to anyone who wants the best experience not only for their dogs for yourself as an owner! read more

Great place for a self-service dog wash. They have a furminator brush available for use and the regular shampoo smells wonderful and left my lab's coat very soft. Greeter was super nice. A bit pricey ~18 for my 90lb lab, but worth it. read more

I'm a client of Austin Urban Vet; I came into Dirty Dog to get my dog a quick nail trim. When we came in all the groomers were occupied, and the kind woman graciously offered to trim her nails quickly. That's where things went downhill. She was good with my dog, and the whole operation took about two, three minutes tops. When I went to pay, I found out that two minute operation cost 15 dollars. I had misread the board, and thought that the a la carte nail filing charge ($6) was the nail trimming charge ($15). The misreading is my fault, of course, but nonetheless 15 bucks for that quick of an operation is an insane charge, particularly since I took my dog home only to find that her nails were still quite sharp. For $5 cash (or $8 credit/debit), you can get your dog a nail trim at Laura's Doggie Doo's on Slaughter Lane, and there they do it with an electric nail trimmer that's ultra-precise, in contrast to the straightforward clippers that were used on my dog. Despite a courteous staff and a convenient location, I won't be returning to this grooming location. $15 for a nail trim is principally insane. read more

Noah did an excellent job grooming our scottish terrier Huey, who is 6 years old. One of the best haircuts he has ever had! Very thorough and Noah went the extra mile to ensure he had all of our preferences ahead of time and on the back end made sure we were satisfied with the cut and explained in detail the techniques he used.
