Three visits all in one 1.) My first 2.) My last 3.) One too many. Unprofessional, inconsistent and strangely odd after hours business practices. My healthy & happy 7yr old Cairn Terrier was (partially) hand stripped by Sara. Sara suggested that I come back a second time for a follow up stripping since it can be very stressful for the dog to do an entire coat in one session. I agreed and scheduled a follow up hand stripping session in a week from that date. A few days after the session with Sara I realized that my dog was suffering from a condition called Candida (no fault of Posh Paws) which is a yeast build up in the gut that causes the microbiome to be disrupted. One of the symptoms is flaky/yeasty skin and hair loss. I politely emailed Sara that I would need to postpone the next hand stripping session for a month and/or until I was able to knock the Candida out of his system. Fast forward to a little more than a month later when my dog was 100% back to his usual healthy self... and Sara emailed me the following... "Knowing what I have learned about the condition since your last visit I have reservations about grooming him again. If he were my dog I would avoid stripping and just clipper his coat. I would also recommend finding a groomer at a vet clinic that you trust so his issues can be addressed promptly. I wish you the best of luck finding a good fit for Hamish and his grooming needs." This is absolute nonsense! He's 100% healthy and needn't be in any veterinary care whatsoever. Anyone who knows anything about Cairn Terriers' coats knows that clipping the coat is NOT the correct way to groom the breed. Hand stripping is the proper grooming technique and also much healthier for the dog's overall health and well being. It appears that Sara just doesn't want to work with my animal because she's paranoid about liability. Why? Does she have a reason to be afraid? Makes zero sense whatsoever. At no point did I even remotely suggest that my dog's condition was caused and/or exacerbated by her grooming in April. I'm baffled that a supposed "show dog groomer" would schedule a follow up session and then send the aforementioned gibberish email. Posh Paws charged $120.00 for a partial hand stripping. Not overly expensive but when you factor in all Sara's odd rules, regulations and strange requests i.e. "Don't park on the street, park in my driveway... Don't call us during business hours, Call after 8:30PM! If we don't get back to you it's because we're extremely busy and/or out of town and on the road with show dogs" etc... etc... It's not worth my valuable time and effort to jump through all those strange hoops. I have an amazing groomer in New York City who is far more professional and forthright. I'll be heading back there soon for work and will be sure to get the job done right the first time instead of playing silly games with this unprofessional "Home Based Groomer". BUYER BEWARE: Since this IS a home business, it is sorely lacking parking, proper doggy day care and/or crates for when the animal is waiting it's turn and then finished being groomed. I have been taking my dog Bowie to Posh Paws Grooming for over 7 months now, and still could not be happier with the quality of his grooming. Sarah, his groomer, is wonderful to work with, and his cuts are always consistently beautiful. My previous Review from June 8, 2014: For the past four years, I have been too scared to take my baby, Bowie, to a groomers for a trim/cut -- especially since I have seen quite a few groomers butcher dogs' coats, nick skin, and disregard owners' requests. He is a long-haired breed and I kept him at full coat for over four years, but decided it was time for a change. I researched online for a reputable groomer and found Sarah, NCMG. I contacted Posh Paws Dog Grooming and left a voicemail inquiring about her grooming services. She promptly returned my call and proceeded to spend ample time calming my fears, telling me more about herself and how her passion for grooming blossomed, and her grooming process. I took Bowie in for his grooming appointment almost one week ago, and I could not be happier with his cut! Sarah really did an amazing job, and I really appreciate her work. Her judgement on what would work for his coat and body structure was faultless, and she gave him an amazing haircut without disregarding any specific requests I had. Bowie came out to me tail wagging, and I truly believed they took wonderful care of him. My boyfriend, who I initially thought would make fun of my dog no matter how nice the cut, thinks Bowie looks like very handsome! So far, everyone has adored his new look! Beautiful work, personable, and professional. Shes always very educating with what I need to do for their coats between groomings and as soon as I pull up in her drive both Yorkies tails start wagging. Posh Paws is absolutely the best dog groomers I've ever taken my Maltese, Ellie. Ellie has always been very afraid of the groomers as she was nicked and had to have 18 stitches as a puppy. The owner and the staff here are so sincerely thoughtful and careful with her that she loves going to be groomed. I've moved further away from posh paws but it's worth the 1 hour round trip! Sarah does a great job. I really liked the way she handled my Simone. A great cut--she still looks great a week afterwards. The garage serves as her salon...I have no idea if it's AC or not but it seems fine. She is definitely a pro and handles a lot of show dogs but not exclusively. Sarah is an amazing groomer. I have been using her for many years and feel bad that this is my first review. I trust Sarah with my 4 legged baby. I know she would never hurt him and will keep him safe when he is with her. I take mine every 3 weeks for an alternating bath and groom. He is a cocker spaniel with ear and skin problems but Sarah knows how to deal with those and helps me monitor his skin condition. If you are using another groomer, I suggest you change and give Posh Paws Grooming a try. You won't be disappointed. read more

They were EXTREMELY nice and clean. When I got my mini-poodle back the cutting was all uneven. You can see the lines of where they cut with scissors instead of being shaved. I asked and paid extra to have her nails painted. They did not take the old polish off so u can see it through the new. read more

I have been taking my two dogs to Sarah for over 5 years. Never thought there were any issues then, the last appointment there was miscommunication about my appointment time. I have tried 5 times since to talk with her and she has not returned any of my phone calls. If she did not want to do business with me any longer then she could have had the courtesy to return my call and let me know. Just a little customer service would have been appreciated. As with many of us, our dogs are like our children and we get emotional about them. It's unfortunate that our situation had to end this way. I'm very disappointed in how she handled. So just beware don't do anything to upset her OR she may ignore you too. read more

My first two experiences here were good, but my last experience was very poor. Sarah, the groomer, asked if I would like the cut done the same as before for my dog- and I said yes. When I came to get him the cost was $20 more than before (without warning) due to a price increase- which I can understand, but I need warning. Once I got my dog home I realized that she had cut him improperly and called to ask if I could bring him in to get his legs trimmed a little more- I left 3 messages and a text and finally she left a message in return, but when I contacted her back there was no response back about coordinating the fix- in her message she basically said that she would be fine if I just decided to go to another groomer . It seems to me that she is not interested in new clients- particularly if they are not small dogs. read more

Sarah did an amazing job today of working with our little rescue shih tzu, Joey. He is afraid of having his face trimmed and she patiently worked with him to make him comfortable and did a beautiful job in less than an hour! We initially took him to a big box pet store and after 4 hours they gave up trying! Soooo, I bought some scissors and made a god awful mess!
