1st day of grooming in Carson City, and we are soooo very happy! My Miniature Schnauzers needed a trim, and we needed to find a groomer that would take as good care with them as their regular groomer in Elko... and the crew at Dirty Dog more than met our hopes. I explained what I wanted (which isn't a typical Schnauzer cut) and asked for some fine tuning (like de-hairing ears and grinding rough nail edges) and got more than I asked for. Not only were they brushed and fluffed and smelled good, they were also shiny and prancing as though they knew how good they were looking. Such guys. Along with tender loving care, the dogs were treated carefully and with respect and left nearly as happy as I was. HIGHLY recommend these women, and we'll be back often during our 'tour of duty' in Carson City. read more

I really tried to like Dirty Dog Grooming. We recently moved to Lake Tahoe and still in search of a groomer in the area. Teresa the owner groomed our dog on our first visit and I was quite pleased... 6 weeks later we saw another groomer and it wasn't good. Our little poodle had a flat top that took over a month to grow out. I didn't realize how bad it was until we got home. I called the next day and Teresa asked me to bring her back to fix her up. It was a nice gesture but we live 40 minutes away. She did her best to round up her head and even out her legs. It was better but was not a good cut. I ended up taking her to Sacramento to her usual groomer 2 weeks later. I will say, if you're able to book with Teresa, you will probably be pleased. The ladies there are quite friendly and accommodating with appointments. read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG HERE!!!! I have never had such a awful experience at any salon as I did this one. I brought my Maltese in for the first time to be groomed. When I arrived the the lady was in the back and said she was washing a dog so i waited. when she was done she walked the very large dog out and fought with it to get it into the kennel. She hit the dog on its butt and yelled at it and said stupid dog i can't fight with you. Eventually she got the dog in, and then came up to the counter and said hi I'm tere the owner I'm sorry about that he is just dumb. I told her that I felt that was very unprofessional to both do and say overall and that I apologize but I could not have my dog groomed there especially after seeing her smack the dog. Took my 6 month golden doodle here for the first time. They refused to trim her hair because she wasn't "behaving." This wasn't the first time my puppy got trimmed and did not getting any complaints from previous groomers. Charged us $50 for a wash that I could've done myself. What a lucky find, just 30 minutes from Incline Village. My two mutts always come out looking stellar... and the last time, their hair (not fur) had a certain "zzush" that was so cute! The owner tere is unprofessional..we tried to like her but after serval bad experiences, we will never be back .. she has been rude, tossed our dog across the counter at us. We have heard her cuss and yell at another employee and say" get the dogs clean or get the fuck out"; one time she was in the back and the young blonde was working on a pup, she told us tere would be right with us.. she calmly told tere we were there. Tere said " fuck I don't have time for this shit I'm busy". Then yelled at the blonde " answer the fucking phone, because it was ringing. When tere came up she was very rude she said ," what are you paying with" we said card" she got into her personal phone, then it rang, she stopped mid transaction to pick it up and continued to talk for 15 minutes, leaving is just standing there in the lobby, the young blonde apologized which none of which happeved was her fault. We finally found a excellent groomer in Carson City. My mom is a retired groomer and we had several bad haircuts in surrounding area Gardnerville and Carson. They take in to many appts takes all day before pickup and all the extra add on charges . Kelli has now worked on the whole family 5 total . The latest a rescue found in desert. Jack was a mess and not knowing history we called Kelli and she worked with him gave him a nice mustache( excellent on faces) ears clipped with a 5 blade, nice tail .cleaned in between toes and trimmed . The pom Ace is so cute i let Kelli use her own judgement when it comes to his length of coat So now will make appt for Boston for his bath .and brushout. read more

I found this place on Yelp after having to switch groomers due to moving. We had a couple of disappointing places so when I found Dirty Dog Grooming I was trying not to get my hopes up. When I first called to make an appointment, the person on the the phone was friendly and professional. When I brought my dog in, Christine, the groomer, made sure to ask about the kind of cut we wanted. Much to my surprise, Christine called just an hour and 20 minutes after dropping my dog off! No, not here. They don't express glands nor clip nails. They do a terrible job and are not very personable. First time took over 2 hours, the next time only an hour and a half and my dog had some strange injuries to her paw, and a burn mark on her neck. The metal round ring that held her name tag was all bent and poking into her neck when we got her back from them. It must have been bent by someone pulling her collar, while it was on her, really hard. Tried to call to talk to them about it, no return call back. So now, in addition to paying $30 plus $5 tip, I have to find a place to express her glands and clip her nails at an additional cost. As a senior living on a fixed income it will be a scrape to come up with extra $ for that! I don't think they care about dogs, only business. Buyer Beware!!!!!!!! read more

New to town and was looking for a reputable groomer. This place had a couple of good reviews, so we tried it. My husband came back 30 minutes before time to pick up our dog. The groomer had our Shih Tzu by his lower jaw while he cried and struggled to get away. Apparently, he was scared of the clippers near his face (not uncommon). My husband had to yell at this person to get her to stop. He then suggested scissors rather than industrial clippers. She did get scissors and then, our dog allowed her to trim his face with no problem. They put dogs in cages and put industrial blowers on them. This kills dogs every year and is scary for them. If you only care how your dog looks, you might be happy with this service. If you care at all about your dog's wellbeing, avoid this place like the plague. read more

I tried Kelli at Dirty Dog a couple of times. My dog has never been afraid of anyone, but when I brought her in for a follow up she started shaking. I was surprised but dogs can get nervous, so I let Kelli groom her. When I picked her up I knew I had made a mistake I ended up at the vets it was almost like she got almost drowned & was trying to get something out of her throat. Friendly, clean, and they did a nice job grooming my Portuguese Water Dog. The appointment wasn't rushed and my dog is very clean and happy. I knocked off one star because my boy looks like he has poodle ears. I did tell them not to touch the ears however I meant cleaning wise. I'll have to be more specific next time. I brought my lab to Kelli after having had a bad experience with Crazy Cat grooming. Kelli was as appalled as I was at the condition of my boy's coat and the wound that had been inflicted on his back from the previous groomer. When I picked up my boy he looked amazing. His coat was soft and shiny and he had very little shed. Kelli said he may shed a little the next day but there was hardly any shed at all. Highly recommend them to groom your baby if you want an awesome experience for your baby and you. read more

Well the name fits the business. As I took a dirty dog to them and left with a dirty, soapy dog. His white face was still slightly dirty and his coat still had some dirty spots. I felt His coat where he still had dirt on him and it felt grimy as if he still had soap in his coat. She didn't groom underneath him. I got tons of hair out of his belly and legs because he wasn't properly brushed out. Which you can't, when you have not been rinsed properly. His tail was also not brushed out. I paid $45 to basically re groom him myself. Which is fine but I went there to avoid grooming him. I walked in to pick both boys up and was about to schedule my other dogs but then saw him and that's the first and last time I'll do that. These were show dogs and I do groom myself but don't have the time. I do know what a properly groomed dog looks like. The kids down the street could have done a better job in the backyard with a garden hose. My other boy was done by the other gal. While he still had tuffs of hair obviously not brushed out, he was completely free of soap, which I would expect and he looked pretty good compared to the other one. He was clean and fairly groomed. We said don't clip the nails on the one boy as he has a nail issue due to age. That's fine and they didn't but they also didn't clip the other dogs nails. If one dog comes back still dirty and soapy I can't expect much when you can't even rinse properly. Your better off buying $45 in supplies at the pet store and doing it yourself. Great experiences at crazy cat dog grooming down the road. My other dog was scheduled there the next day and every shedding ounce of hair was taken out of her coat. She was as white as a diamond and even two days later I can't see a speck of dirt nor get any hair out of her. My boys, I got a plastic bag full of hair that wasn't taken out. These are Siberian huskies. Crazy cat dog grooming, oh yeah, they did fabulous. Even her undercarriage was groomed and cleaned. Of course the 1 year old child running around clinging to the one groomer following her around screaming may have distracted her. I love kids and that's great he can come to work, but don't charge me $45 when you can't even do the simple part of your job, like wash and rinse. read more

Took my maltese there three times. Told them I wanted a puppy cut which is the standard short cut for a maltese. She came out looking like a poodle. The second time I took a picture. They did a fine job. The third time I took her in in January (no picture, I thought they knew what I wanted by then) they shaved her and I mean down to the skin. She spent January and February shivering and uncomfortable. I talked with the owner and believed we had straightened it out. Decided I would just bring a picture every time. Called to make an appointment, left a message, no response. Called the next day, left a message, still no response. Just picked my my Lhasa mix from Dirty Dog, and I'm so impressed with their work. I took him in for a summer cut...and a MASSIVE cleanup. He's started shedding his thicker undercoat from the winter and developing bad mats and tangles. I've been trying to stay on top of them with at-home conditioning and brushing, but he made things worse by rolling in something sticky and I couldn't detangle the mess he made of his coat. I brought him to Dirty Dog anticipating that I'd be paying extra for the time and work needed to clean him up. At first glance, I was told it'd likely be a 3-hour appointment. Imagine my surprise when I was called to pick him up less than two hours later! My dog looked great -- silky smooth coat, no more tangles, tear stains gone! And I wasn't charged a cent more than the first time I'd brought him to Dirty Dog for a much less intensive groom. I'd recommend Dirty Dog to anyone! read more
