I wish I could give more than 5 stars! I have been patient in looking to add a kitten/cat to our family and stumbled across Marigold on a fosters Instagram page which prompted me to submit an application. Kat reached out the very next day after reviewing our application and pre approved us. Yelena reached out for all coordination afterwards. Marigold was not even posted on the rescues page but they were so kind and were able to get us in to meet her. The foster mom (and dad) were wonderful and have been doing this for so long (60+ kitties). We instantly fell in love with Marigold and were able to be selected to adopt her (pat on our back for being able to provide a good home). She came from a hoarder home and was lucky to survive from malnutrition. We came back to get her after getting she completed her shots/spayed. Not even 24 hours in, my one year old tabby loves her and she is settling in perfectly. I will say I have had not so great experiences with other rescues in the area and Dirty Little Paws surpassed all expectations! I hope one day I can repay them and foster another baby in need. read more

Kat from dirty paws reached out to me when I was desperate and had no funds and needed some help with wash and churros to help my cat be able to swallow his medication. I was not able to get anything in my cat and it was so frustrating and he could not get better, that's when she suggested using the churro flavored paste for cats. And she always wash able to help me with a wash for my cats ringworm. He is super friendly, lets us push out his claws on all feet, inspect his ears, anything we might need to do, purring all the while. This does not happen by accident. When the kittens were old enough to be weened, we trapped mamma , got her spayed and brought the babies inside. We wanted to foster this litter ourselves because we felt invested at this point, but finding a rescue that would help us foster a litter we already had was difficult (most didn't even call us back). I was looking for a bonded pair and was really impressed when I received a message back so soon after submitting an application. It was an absolute pleasure adopting our little Ozzy through DLP! This was my first time adopting through a non profit so I didn't know what to expect. Communication was fabulous from the initial call to the foster mom to speaking directly with DLP. Everyone I have spoken with was extremely friendly and professional. I appreciated how thorough the adoption process was because they wanted to make sure we were going to be the "fur-ever home". I also appreciated that our kitten was up to date with his shots as well as neutered and microchip because that meant we could just focus on bonding with him. The adoption fee was very reasonable considering he was fostered, feed, well cared for, and all of his medical needs were met. The fee also covered a follow up appointment with the vet DLP uses (Discovery Valley Animal Hospital) which I also highly recommend! Two months ago I submitted an application for a beautiful Little kitten, the first I'd seen who really felt right after I lost mine of 20 years. Two weeks after applying, I heard nothing and sent an email. No response. A week later I called, no answer. A few days after this I received a call back from Kat who was initially very kind. She mentioned having seen my app weeks before and said I sounded like a great fit. Then she told me the kitten had been put into a foster that weekend -again 3 weeks after my initial application showing interest. I was then told that I could meet her the next day and do a formal interview. I was thrilled, despite how long the process had taken and how difficult it had been up to this point. The next day, I never hear from Kat with the address so I call her. She answers but is abrupt and tells me she doesn't have time for this but to call her later. Later I call again and She tells me the foster loved the kitten so much that she's decided to adopt her but "I advised the foster that it's her job to foster and not hoard cats, so we'll give her two days to make a decision." So I said ok and waited. Never heard back at all, even called with no answer. Flash forward to last week, again two months. After my initial apps and more than a month after her being "adopted" I get an email from Kat saying the same kitten is available if anyone wants her. I replied to confirm, and yes the foster had changed her mind. I was very angry and already traumatized from my initial negative experience of being given hope then ignored, but I went against my gut and started conversations about this kitten again. This time with both the foster and the rescue woman Kat. They went so far as to check my references and call my last vets, only to not contact me once again, after days of waiting. I just texted the foster to be told that the kitten was adopted out this weekend, they had to do it urgently as she couldn't keep her in the home anymore. And despite all the effort they put in with me, despite their past abuses of my time and inconsiderate actions in how they dealt with me as a potential adopter, despite having already checked my references, I wasn't even told this was happening. I guess they had plenty of time to play games with me as a potential for more than two months, but not enough time to actually give me the consideration or care to follow through. Kat, her fosters and the entire rescue have no real interest in adopting out these kitties. They just cause potential adopters trauma and heartbreak. She's too busy to do the job right or give you the care you deserve through the process. Absolutely do not recommend putting yourself through their hoops and manipulations. This was horrific and heartbreaking. read more

After 3 weeks I messaged them to say how rude it was to make me do all that and then not bother to get back to me at all. I received about 20 messages after that and they had the nerve to ask me to jump three more hoops and raised the adoption fee. Bobby was 5 years old. I ran ads everywhere trying to find him a new forever home. I listed him with several rescues but had no luck. As time went by I fell in love with him more and more each day. But I had 5 cats and they did not get along so I could not keep him. A friend on Facebook had lost his cat of 15 years so I tried to talk him into taking Bobby if only as a foster home. He recommended I call Dirty little paws. I love these ladies. They immediately returned my call, within minutes, and the very next day they had a perfect foster mom for Bobby. They let me deliver him and meet his new family. She was a perfect fit for Bobby. He loved her and was right at home immediately. I asked if I could be updated on him and they have kept their promise to do so. It warms my heart to know that he is in good hands. My experience with Dirty Little Paws has been amazingly positive. I've been fostering two cats they rescued for about a month now, and everyone at Dirty Little Paws (DLP) has been incredibly kind, thorough, and helpful. They provided all supplies I needed in order to be a foster, since I am unemployed, and was unable to spend money on additional pets. Litter, dry food, canned food, a litter box, and toys were all provided. They even resupplied different food when the cats didn't care for one of the types of canned food originally provided. I had hoped to foster then adopt the cats, but unfortunately, my rescue French bulldog has refused to get along with them, so we are now waiting for someone to adopt them, and the DLP staff is doing a great job with that as well. They always respond quickly when I text them, and are so knowledgable and kind. I can't say enough about this organization. They're true professionals, even though they're volunteering all their time. If you can't foster or adopt, please seriously consider donating to this wonderful rescue organization! read more

Cat stuck in a tree? Who ya gonna call? Kat Parker of Dirty Little Paws! I've had cats since I was 12 yrs old and suffice it to say I've had a quite a few over the years but never had one stuck in a tree! Came back from an out of town trip and the cats out due to an irresponsible relative and they'd been out all weekend. Sadly one was missing despite searching for her. Then last night I tried one more time and heard her! Frantic, we tried to get her to come down but she was up a good 30' in a pine tree across from our street. I got in touch with Kat and this wonderful, kind-hearted and genuinely caring woman got me in touch with several guys who help rescue kitties from trees! She was in contact with me the whole time making sure I was ok and the kitty was ok! I truly believe she was as happy as me when Luna was rescued and safely back home! I can't say enough good stuff about this experience! Javier who rescued Luna was just as great! Compassion and love of animals is a sign of those with truly huge hearts and that describes Kat Parker to a tee! We are happy cat folks again thanks to Kat's quick response and kind assistance! Just recently brought home my two little rescue kitties from Dirty Little Paws. I adopted a mom and one of her babies. She was found with her 1-2 day old kittens in a planter behind an apartment complex. Dirty Little Paws took them in and got them a foster mom. I noticed the post on Facebook and just had to adopt! I sent a message expressing interest and Kat (founder) responded right away. I went through the pre-adoption process and had to wait an agonizing 2 months before they could be taken home. The foster mom and her family took such good care of the mom and her litter. They are so friendly and socialized so well! I could not be more pleased and happy. The rescue and my dealings with the founder of the rescue and the foster mom were fantastic. They answered my million and one questions, which I am so thankful for. I have been looking for a cat for a few months but more seriously in the last month. I've been to the Cat Cafe in San Diego and Cat and Craft in Vista. One staff member at Cat Cafe wasn't helpful or professional at all. Rather he was condescending to the customers. The staff was much more helpful at Cat and Craft but they charge $12 entry fee which gets you an hour. (More on this later) My first attempt was a trip to PetSmart in Vista where I found a rag doll through Baja Animal Sanctuary. The volunteer there was very nice but didn't know much about the cats. I sent an email and made a call to Baja Animal Sanctuary but got nothing. It's been about 2 months and I'm still waiting to hear back from them LOL. There was one very friendly cat but he was already adopted. The rag doll isn't a rag doll at all. Instead he is a domestic short hair. lol Anyway last weekend my girlfriend and I went back to PetSmart to see if got any new rescues. Serendipitously Lyff Rescue was having an adoption event. We fell in love with this very friendly male and he loved us. Then we learned he was a bonded pair and the leader of Lyff was very rude and basically snatched him away from us without a word. On Tuesday I was surfing the web for rescue cats in North County and found one through Dirty Little Paws at Petco in Oceanside. I called and emailed (an application) to Dirty Little Paws and got a respond (both an email and a phone call) from Kat. Kat informed me that the one cat I saw on their site had already been adopted the day before but she had two more cats and would like to get them homes before they shut down for due to Covid19. There was an adult female and a 5 month old male. I was interested in the male and wanted to meet him. By now Kat and I were texting Q's and A's. When I learned Tori was a "love bug", I knew I wanted to meet him. My desire in a cat is one that is affectionate with people and doesn't mind being held or petted. When I met Kat the Petco she let me hold Tori and he didn't squirm or reject being held one bit - it was almost as if he knew he was going to get rescued and put on the charm! lol The adoption process was very painless. Other places ask for two days minimum where part of it is an interview which I totally get. Kat is a true professional and knows how to vet adopters. She read my application and when she met me, she said knew I would make a great "furrever owner". I appreciated that. Long story short, Kat helped me buy the right food, bed, scratching post, etc. She knows her cats! When I got Tori home he disappeared for a few hours. I searched everywhere and was so concerned I called Kat for help. She told me he was probably stressed with the new environment and hiding out. She suggested opening some food and he will find it. Sure enough about 45 minutes after I opened the food, Tori came to me (not the food) as if he was introducing himself. When I pet him, he started purring immediately and even rolled onto his back exposing his belly which assured me he is very chill. I renamed him to Aki which means Autumn as he was born in October. He seems to like the name and he now walks/runs around the house like he owns it! lol Thank you Kat and Dirty Little Paws!! read more

I first discovered Dirty Little Paws in July 2020 when I was looking to adopt a pair of bonded kittens or cats. I reached out to Dirty Little Paws and they let me know that the pair I was interested has already been spoken for. I followed their social media because I loved the name and in August 2021 I saw a pair of bonded kittens that needed a foster home. I already had 2 cats of my own, but had been interested in fostering for quite some time so I decided to reach out to apply to foster them. I called and was not even able to share with her the full details of why we are needing to re home our cat before she aggressively began berating me. She assumed she had heard everything I had to say. Then she hung up on me. But wait, there's more! She then text me a novel, again bad mouthing me and my need to find a new home for our cat. You might notice she responds to bad reviews quite a bit with "you are vindictive and people can see through this" and told me go ahead leave a review it won't matter. PLEASE, tread carefully here.
