Very good basic burger and fries. Hubs had the chili burger and the chili on it was very nice! Not super spicy like Tex Mex chili, but not super wimpy like most restaurant's burger chili. Dirty Martin's was definitely an appropriate name - absolutely a college hangout type of place so not fancy, but I'd definitely go back. The front of the building , where there is a single table to sit at, ends in a point sticking out in the corner between two streets so you could really sit and enjoy the traffic going by. read more

Tomorrow is .y girls 4th birthday and she wanted a cheeseburger ...since we were downtown to see the flex capacitor aka wishbone bridge complex...it was the perfect pairing. I want to give 5 stars so this place stays here forever but man the food was just not good. The buns were stale, the burgers were cold and tasted like the frozen patties from Costco. The nachos were cold. The only hits were the onion rings and the milkshake, it was awesome. The service was great! They were super nice at the counter. One of the guys interacted with my kids which I thought was sweet. Sometimes I feel like people, especially around campus, are annoyed by children but they were so sweet. Amazing place!! We had the Kum Back burgers in two sizes, small and large. The small was the perfect size for me, and my boyfriend loved the double patty large burger. The service at the counter was friendly, and food came out very fast. We also had the pleasure of meeting the cook that has worked here for 30 years! We ate in the burnt orange room that had great Longhorn memorabilia and lots of great things to look at. Awesome vibe. It's the 100th year anniversary this year, and we see why. We went here for their birthday party and had so much fun! First of all the margaritas were only $4! We got in line and ordered a burger and onion rings, and I got a veggie burger with tater tots. They had free cake and mini milkshakes for their birthday. It was so fun and funny. This was absolutely the cheapest meal we've had in Austin. I want to say everything was only $5 each. My dad went here when he was at UT. I went here when I was at UT. I lived across the street for most of my time there. This place is Austin. There are so few things about this city that retain the classic Austin vibe or offer the familiar experience that Dirty's does. And they make my favorite burger anywhere. My dad used to joke that he always judges a restaurant by the quality of their tots. He was thinking of Dirty's when he said it. They win there too. This place is pretty awesome!! We try to make it once a month at least. Burgers are ALWAYS amazing but today I decided to venture into other menu items and I was not disappointed. Their fried jalapeños are perfectly battered and is something I order every time as well. Decided to try their BLT today and it is honestly the best one I've ever had. Perfectly buttered toast, correct ratios of every topping too. Also added a chocolate shake and it did not disappoint. They also have $10 mimosa carafes on Saturdays and what seems to be an awesome mixed drink list to choose from. It's a great place to watch the game on all their tvs too. The food, the service, and definitely the ambiance makes 'Dirty's' THE place for an authentic smash burger in Austin. I started going weekly, either Saturday or Sunday *late* morning, depending on the weekend ;) to get a dose of vitamin "g" [grease] to cure what ailed me. I cannot recommend highly enough the DH Special, add bacon. It will be the best pattymelt you ever experience. And you would be doing yourself a disservice if you did not accompany that with either onion rings or french fries. I have finally found my favorite burger spot in Austin! This place, while having a small menu, has enormous taste!! I ordered the double cheeseburger with a fried egg and it was PERFECT! The egg was cooked perfectly so it wasn't dripping down the burger, the patty was cooked great and filled with flavor all while being not too salty. It got a side of Jalapeño ranch and it was so spicy! I loved it, definitely one of my favorite places for the ranch. The Dirty Tatchos were a little small, but that was no problem. From the first bite I was hooked! I don't know what seasoning they used on the mean but everything mixed together; the meat, the tater tots, the cheese, it was so good!. The friend pickles with ranch were good but they tasted so much better in the spicy ranch. The onion rings were not a little thin and that was perfect. Most places I've been to have onion rings that are breaded so much and it's like I taste nothing but the batter but not these. So good! When you walk into the place, you get in line and they have a menu placed in front of you to check out and it goes pretty quick. The cashier was super friendly and answered our questions. It's a classic, and Capital Metro should be ashamed of themselves for even threatening to knock it down. Dirty's is 97 years old and still going strong. The burger is as you would expect, a well cooked and no frills experience that meets all expectations. It hasn't changed in the 23 years I have lived here. Make sure to add some grilled onions, it takes the whole thing to eleven. The onion rings are a little too greasy, but I wasn't coming here for health food. Atrocious game day experience. First off, when we ordered the person taking our purser screwed up so bad we had to reorder our entire groups meal twice. Then, we tried to order from the bar and an extremely disorganized and rude bartender told us to order from our table instead because she was "behind on tickets" maybe be better at your job? What is the point of having a bar with seats if him can't order directly from the bartender? Then, all of our food came out missing sides. And to top it off, all our food came out twice. Wowzers. I took a few out of state friends here last week and they chatted with the counter person as we left and they said they get $2.13/hour. WTF? I know servers do but counter workers too, is this new. I was shocked. I love this place and I brought friends here to support them and then I find out that... WHAT! I miss the servers coming up to tables or the counter to sit up. The chefs still serve it up and the ONION rings are the best thing ever! Dirty Martin's is an iconic bar and burger joint that's great for big groups. I've hosted and attended student org socials here since it's right by campus. The fries, sweet potato fries, onion rings, and tater tots were all fine, but none of the appetizers stood out. The sissy burger was pretty good. The $6 Kumbak cherry limeade was good at first then made me feel queasy, which is not usual. There is a good amount of parking in the lot. We arrived late in the evening and ordered the daily special, the DH, with a side of onion rings. It is a double-the-cheese burger (single patty) with Texas toast, grilled onions, tomatoes, and pickles. Despite getting there so close to closing time, we were welcomed by friendly staff.
