You can already tell this place has got character and kitsch to spare. The interior design has an old 70s biker bar with pool tables galore. When you go outside, there are so many artifacts of old on display making the ambience much more immersive. As for the food, I got the chicago dog and onion petals and my friends got various other dishes that we all shard. Perfect bar food. It's bar food so you just gotta expect bar food. From the outside, it looks like a mid so-so burger joint...but inside, it's huge and it has all of these different outside areas. It has inside/outside vibes. They shield the outside areas from the drama/noise of the city with big plant covered fence walls and other fences. It's nice. I loved the vibes. Loved the staff. Loved the atmosphere. Loved the parking. The parking lot FEELS like it's going to be tight but the truth is there is lots of parking. It's just a popular place with parking filled up all of the time. Loved the mix of the crowd. Loved the food menu. Everything was a hit. Flavorful bar food done very well. I loved my spicy jalapeño flavored loaded waffle fries. There's plenty of photo ops, jenga, corn hole, pool, foosball, connect four, pacman, and a few other arcade games. This place is completely filled with 80s, 90s, and early 2000s' nostalgia. The pretzels I always loved tasted stale like they baked them and left them sitting under heat lamps for hours. Sandwiches tasted noticeably worse. Still, we continued to come here. And then they were sold in the last year. New owners and what's the first thing they do? Fix issues? No that would be hard. They raised prices. A LOT. Coffees cost more than anywhere else in the area. Lunch for 2 adults and 2 kids meal hits $90 with zero leftovers. Every time I come here I feel so squeezed and it's never worth it. So this is it. After 7 years I'm through. The place has so much potential but whatever is happening here I cannot support. There are far better bakeries (looking at you sugarwolf) and far better coffee places (literally dozens). Here is to hoping for a turnaround.

Aside from some basic fails, like only having two trash cans right by the bar and nowhere else in the club, and running out of beer (how do you, as a venue, not know to have enough beer stocked for a major event on a Saturday night? I've been attending events and working in multiple venues for 15 years and have literally NEVER seen a bar run out of beer), their most critical error was false advertising. They charged anywhere from $30-$800 for tickets for "An Evening with R. Kelly", but failed to mention that R. Kelly was only "hosting" the evening, and not, in fact, performing. One of the promoters later came out and berated the crowd for not knowing what "hosting an evening means", but nowhere on the event page, on facebook, or The Mansion's website did it mention that R. Kelly was merely hosting the event instead of performing. This kind of deliberate deception is exactly the kind of thing that puts promoters out of business, and I intend to assist in this process by never patronizing their club again, and telling others to do the same.
