The bar is great with good happy hour prices; cheaper if you pay in cash. The food is great - the cheeseburger was tasty. Outdoor area has lots of picnic tables. Jukebox inside with eclectic playlist. You might need allot of patience when it gets slightly busy as they have one bartender handling bar and food orders as well as people checking out.

After driving past this little joint for years, we finally dropped in for "burgers and boozes." It's got a friendly dive bar feel--like they all know each other but you're still welcome. We sat at the bar for some boozes, he ordered a buffalo burger and I went for the bbq bacon cheeseburger. We hung out, chatted, watched a terrible old monster movie, and petted the bar cat until our food came. My burger was unusually good. He just said his was "fine." One beer, two g&t, and two burgers somehow cost us $40. Shoulda specified well drinks and gone for the 2fer chili dogs! I'd go back.

Silver Medal is one of the few spots that still feels like an old Austin dive even though it's fairly new. I love meeting friends here for happy hour or patio nights when the weather's nice. The bartenders are cool and friendly. Bring cash, grab a Jell-O shot, and order the fried bologna with an egg or that Frito pie. Shared parking with a shady motel, and it's a bit tricky to get to if you exit 290 at the wrong time -- but honestly, that just helps keep the dorks out.

The Silver Medal is the best little neighborhood dive bar at the side of a highway I've ever been to. Located east of I-35 in Central Austin next to a sleazy motel, the inside has that wood paneling that makes it kinda feel like you are hanging out in a basement at a friend's house in the burbs in the Northeast or New England. The place is small, so there's just a few tables and limited bar seating, but there are more tables outside in the back yard. The beer selection isn't large, but there is a variety of cheap beers and some local craft beers, plus some ciders and hard teas and mixed drinks (but nothing fancy, here). The food here is pretty good, and surprisingly, they have vegetarian options available with gluten-free substitutions available. And everything is priced fairly cheap compared to most places in Austin. Unlike many dive bars, you aren't forced to watch sports! For those of us that don't care about sports, this is great. There are 2 TVs, one dedicated to playing movies (mostly cult classics on VHS) and one dedicated to sports. I'm not sure the owner even likes the sports. When he's behind the bar you'll find him watching the movies. The music here is schizo. The jukebox is loaded with metal, punk, country and yacht rock. It's weird when the places is full of metalheads dressed in black listening to Ozzy, Metal and whatever and then Jimmy Buffet or Christopher Cross comes on. But, that's part of the charm, I guess.

A friend recommended this place so we gave it a go. It's a bit of a drive but it was worth it. The bar itself is tiny...like tiny but awesome! Exactly what you expect a little cool dive bar to be. The bartender was super friendly. Luckily we were there in a Monday and burgers were BOGO! The back patio was relatively small but felt cozy. It used to be a Mexican restaurant and they kept the original sign in the back. That's cool. It's worth the drive! Go get yourself a burger and a cold beer! Bring a friend and go on a Monday!

My absolute favorite dive bar. Cozy and chill. Food is legit good. It's not fancy, so don't go in expecting it to be. Feels like real Austin. I love this place!

This day started out drizzly in the morning but became a full-fledged rainstorm in the afternoon (of course when we were ready for the party). Didn't let the rare Austin rainstorm stop our guy, Sir Benjamin Doolittle from missing out on a fun time. It was a great gathering with Austin Pets Alive! holding an adoption fair (a few dogs left with new humans while we were there), Tomlinson's, Chewy Vet Care, & more. I had a lavender spritz mocktail that was super refreshing and flavorful. The boyfriend had a cherry sour pour, and we shared a frozen boozy coffee, while B-Boy enjoyed treats provided by the brewery, and a pup cup from Chewy. The service, drinks, and environment were spot-on, welcoming vibes you expect from a brewery. We're fans. Had a blast!

You can already tell this place has got character and kitsch to spare. The interior design has an old 70s biker bar with pool tables galore. When you go outside, there are so many artifacts of old on display making the ambience much more immersive. As for the food, I got the chicago dog and onion petals and my friends got various other dishes that we all shard. Perfect bar food. It's bar food so you just gotta expect bar food. But it was all still really good. The fries and petals were seasoned really well and I also got an espresso martini which was heavenly. I wish it had the bean though. The hot dog really got me correct.

Many things don't have a price listed so you have to trust in good faith that what you pay for is accurate. When I chose to print a receipt? NOTHING. When I emailed the business for one? NOTHING. When I called the establishment? NO ANSWER. When I followed up on social media? IGNORED. Speaking of calling...when you call, you get a porn chick voice recording and then the call ends. Blue balls and no progress. This is frustrating, confusing and hot??? Lol I hate this place. What I love: it's A retro bar with 70s and 80s porn vibes, chartreuse velvet seating, and an eclectic/varied/assorted drink and food menu with throwbacks to fast food menus from Generation X and millennial childhood. Porn posters on the wall. 70s color scheme and decor. And so much inside and outside seating that you wonder how it doesn't translate from the outside. From the outside, it looks like a mid so-so burger joint...but inside, it's huge and it has all of these different outside areas. It has inside/outside vibes. They shield the outside areas from the drama/noise of the city with big plant covered fence walls and other fences. It's nice. I loved the vibes. Loved the staff. Loved the atmosphere. Loved the parking. The parking lot FEELS like it's going to be tight but the truth is there is lots of parking. It's just a popular place with parking filled up all of the time. Loved the mix of the crowd. Loved the food menu. Everything was a hit. Flavorful bar food done very well. I loved my spicy jalapeño flavored loaded waffle fries. I can't tell you how much they were with the add ons and no receipt (shady people) but I want 10 more orders of them. F!ck it. My mojito was so refreshing. God might not want anything to do with this place, BUT GOD I LOVE THIS PLACE. BE TRANSPARENT WITH YOUR PRICES AND HOW YOU CHARGE, PLEASE.

Back then, Austin needed a bakery so badly that easy tiger was a standout savior. Fresh bread (still great today!) and pastries were so welcome. At some point after Covid, quality started slipping. Pastries weren't changing. The croissants were soft with no crunch. The chicken schnitzel which is used to be thin had turn into a thick blob basically a giant chicken nugget. The pretzels I always loved tasted stale like they baked them and left them sitting under heat lamps for hours. Sandwiches tasted noticeably worse. Still, we continued to come here. And then they were sold in the last year. New owners and what's the first thing they do? Fix issues? No that would be hard. They raised prices. A LOT. Coffees cost more than anywhere else in the area. Lunch for 2 adults and 2 kids meal hits $90 with zero leftovers. Every time I come here I feel so squeezed and it's never worth it. So this is it. After 7 years I'm through. The place has so much potential but whatever is happening here I cannot support. There are far better bakeries (looking at you sugarwolf) and far better coffee places (literally dozens). Here is to hoping for a turnaround.
