Dropped my vehicle off at 1030 for an 11 appointment and was asked when I needed it done. I said in the next few hours and I was told that was ok. Well Io and behold my vehicle is stuck on a lift that broke. But it was conveniently forgot about. For the final pay acted like they didn't have my vehicle for 6 hours and cost me overtime. I was not impressed with the knowledge of the assistant manager or the manager Steve. We were told Toyota says a range of tires fit this vehicle and that is not the case. That calls for one size. Sadly used other location and recommended them after dealing with Steve at this location I will not be using discount tire again. A tire person on 20 years should know more about tires. Bought a set of new tires from Austin here & also paid for the road size hazard, a few months later got a screw stuck in a tire, brought it back & Austin once again took care of me he went above and beyond got me a free replacement, quick fast and easy installed by Manny, very impressed with both of them! Highly recommend buying your tires from here & be sure to pay for the road side hazard too you never know when you might get a flat unexpectedly. We have been doing business with Big I Altoona for years and years. Today my husbands truck was losing pressure, the earliest he could get an appointment is Tuesday (today is Saturday). He went to Discount Tire just around the corner and they said they could get it taken care of by 12:30 today. They gave him a link to check the progress so we could just head back when it was done. my account was charged 6 times on five cards and I showed them bank statements and told them the point of sale(pos) was not accurate so the manager Colton sent my boss a link after numerous attempts and hrs wasted with a now broken lock nut because they over tightened they took the $$$ paid in full many times over tires off my truck &placed a warped almost blown tire back on my truck knowing it was a hazard to my family and everyone else on the road with us . I called customer service they were to call back and have yet reached out after 12k and no new tires I'm extremely disappointed and terrified that they make this a normal practice... Do not come here period. I paid 300$ for a new tire plus insurance on the tires and they guy working said "tires is what we do" and got home (in grinnell) went back out to my car an hour later and the brand new tire was flat. How are you going to have tire in your name and say that fixing tires is what you do but not fix a tire right? Pretty bad company if you ask me. Maybe be better and not suck at your job if you're gonna brag about being a tire place? Sad sad excuse for a tire place. I'd find a better career maybe be a politician they are good at lying. I just purchased new tires for my 2012 CRV, next day the drivers front tire was flat, I was traveling that day. So out of town, I called and was asked to bring it in? It's flat, I just paid a good dollar for new tires and haven't had a flat in 25 years. Bryan was good enough to send someone out to repair it while I was out of town. Thank you, two weeks later the passenger front tire is flat? New tires??? I called, Steve asked me to bring it in so they could look at it. Service was good, quality of product not so good. Don't know the root cause other than shoddy work where tires did not get sealed good. If you don't mind driving back to where you bought new, this may be your place? Had an appointment for new tires, was told it would take an hour max for the service. Returned an hour later and service hadn't even started. When I inquired I was told they ran into a delay and they would get to mine next. They then rushed and ended up scraping my rim and cracked it in the machine- they didn't disclose this and my husband discovered it later that night. Called to inform them and was told they had never heard of that happening and to bring it in for them to look at it. Manager said plastic doesn't do that and took no responsibility for it- disagreed with my husband but said he'd send it in to corporate. I trysted my property to them for it to be returned in worse condition and that's the best customer service they can provide? Stand behind your service and do better! read more

Took in a trailer tire. When I pulled in the lot Kevin walked out to meet me & see what I needed. Took the tire & we walked in & got my info. Asked me if I wanted to wait or come back. I asked if he knew how long it would take. He said looks like we can take a look at it in about 10 min. I said I'll wait then. Needless to say I didn't have to wait long. They found a small hole & patched it for me FREE of charge. They then brought it out to me truck for me. All the guys I felt with were real nice & friendly. I will for sure be back to this location. I can't say enough good things about this tire shop. We were on our way home from a trip to Colorado from Chicago and stopped in the town to rest. We ended up with a flat tire as soon as we parked our car. My Husband was struggling to put on a spare till a stranger stopped to help.Thank God for his kindness, he also told us to take our car to Discount tires to get fixed the next morning. We did and were greeted with more kindness and after looking at the tire they found the nail and patched it for free. They wouldn't even take any money from us. I took my F-350 in for a tire rotation and when I got it back one of the sensors wasn't working. I took it in to get it fixed on a Friday morning and was told they would fix it in the afternoon with no luck as I was told they were to busy to get it in. So I took it back a few days later and dropped it off and the called and said they couldn't fix it because the sensors they put in weren't reading. They proceeded to tell me to take it to a ford dealer to get it fixed. I asked if they were going to cover it and was told they wouldn't. So now I have to take it to ford and have to pay for something that got broke inside their shop. I just want to put this out there that the customer service at that location is horrible. read more

They then called and got a eta of when the other two tires would be there and they stated that the other tires were in their distribution center in town and that they should be here by the end of the day. Prepare to get blown away by friendly, outstanding customer service and quality work. I called them on Thursday, September 29th and discussed some tire options for my car with Kyle. In addition to the tires I inquired about, he made a couple suggestions and I agreed to stop in the next day to take a look. On Friday I pulled up, parked, and got out of the car. As I was walking out of the car Kyle and Joe came out and greeted me by name in the parking lot. That's right, no walking in the store and asking a surly clerk behind the counter for help. These guys do service right and are eager to help get exactly the right tires for your needs. Once I decided on which tire I wanted, I was also pleased to find out they had them in stock. My car takes a somewhat unusual size, and nobody else in Altoona had any tires at all in stock in that size. But Discount Tire did. To top it off, their prices were significantly lower than any other tire shops I contacted and their shop and showroom are spotless. They brought my car right in, and during the process I had several visits from the guys working on it keeping me up to date on how much longer it would take. Not just once, but several times. Add to that they have large windows overlooking the bays so I could see exactly what was going on. When my car was finished (it took less than an hour from start to finish) not only was I thanked by the guys up front, but the guys who did the work came up and thanked me. I've never, ever had that happen before. To sum it up, their prices are great, the place is spotlessly clean, their customer service is at an entirely different level than anyone, and I mean anyone else in the area. The quality of work was second to none, and I genuinely felt that my business was appreciated by everyone at Discount Tire. I can understand the price being different. But from $78 to $250 and to be quoted triple the time other discount tires quoted me was ridiculous. I would not recommend the altoona location to anyone. Hello I called several tire outlets and priced a set of 4 tires for our 2016 kia Sorrento.the salesman quoted me a price for 4tires and it was the most reasonable price.I thought great and told him I would like to come in the next day at 8:45am and have them installed.He said great we will see you then.We'll I showed up at 8:45am and went on I was greeted fine and then while I was told that they did not have the tires I was extremely mad ,they said they did have a more expensive tire (of course) so long story short I bought the more expensive tire and did get a 50 dollar rebate but I still paid more than I was expecting. By the way the rebate was a standard deal so I didi,t really get a deal. I can,t recommend them ,if I could have got the other tires for my price that would have made a difference.I really can,t recommend them.If you use them verify that the tires are on site. read more
