My son took his small little sports car to this location last fall to put on winter tires. He stored the tires in his garage and then went back out this spring to exchange for the winter ones. . They noticed one of them had a broken seal and without question, they knew it had to have happened when they changed them around in the fall. So they are ordering a replacement tire. Brought my car to this location for a simple tire patch as it was slowly leaking air over the course of about a week. They checked out my tires and said they were too low of tread depth to legally repair saying that they were below 2/32 of an inch. I thought this was odd as it was still above the tread line which to my understanding was 2/32 of an inch. They then aggressively tried to sell me new tires but I figured I would bring it somewhere else for a second opinion . brought it to Sam's Club tire and battery and they repaired my tire for free and said the tires were getting lower on tread depth, but definitely not below any kind of limit. Very disappointed in the dishonest business practices of this location. read more

I recently replaced all four of my tires at another location. One of my tires was leaking air, so I took it in to have it looked at. Apparently, the first location did a poor job on that tire. The employees were very helpful in explaining exactly what the problem was and had me on my way in just a short wait with no charge due to the warranty. Worst experience. I called ahead and was told they could take me as a walk in. I arrived 10 minutes later and was told it would be some wait but would be done before closing (2.5 hrs later). My car was still not in the garage over 3 hours later, while other walk ins who came in after me were done. I had an oil change and they noticed there was something very wrong with my tire and told me I needed to get it fixed ASAP. I bought the tire 6 months earlier at discount tire on SE. 14th St. and returned there to have them take a look at it. I totally forgot that I had spent the extra $10 on the tire to have it guaranteed. They had it all in their computer system. I purchased tires from a different Discount Tire location, but they all work together ... which is great. They offer free rotations, and today I mentioned a slow leak (thinking I likely had a nail in one of the tires). I asked if it was expensive to repair - and they said it is complementary (FREE!). Amazing. My only disappointment is in myself = that I didn't buy from Discount Tire sooner! I plan on using them for all future tire purchases. I will note that the tire didn't have a leak, it was actually the wheel had some corrosion and stuff - which is expected (it's 12 years old, and I've been in an accident). They offered to clean the wheel (free of charge) which may help - and asked if I was interested in replacing the wheel (I'm not), so it was great for them to discuss options with me. I listened to a salesperson tell a female owner of a newer Mustang that her lugs were swollen, they had to use a 21 mm socket to get them off, and that they should be replaced. Discount Tire has my business for life. My car was a death trap and needed new tires that were going to help my Corolla handle better in the snow. The manager worked with me on the price and found tires that were excellent and fit my budget. After they started working on my car, they realized that they didn't have four of the tires in stock, so one of their technicians drove to another store to pick them up so I wouldn't have to come back. The price of these tires were MUCH higher online/at other stores. Additionally, they include free rotations every 6k miles and will replace your tire for free if it goes flat or is damaged. After spending almost two decades in Texas, there are only three companies that I have had a positive experience EVERY time I have been. What-A-Burger, Chick-Fil-A, and discount tire. A discount tire opened up in Des Moines just in time. While having repairs done to my Wrangler after a deer strike, I had to drive my back up car. Of course, the second day driving it, I got a flat tire. The dealership supposedly repaired it, but it was flat again the next day. I brought it in to discount tire, where they showed me the mistake the dealership made. I was able to get a new tire installed for about $60. There have been multiple times when a flat was near the sidewall, and a free repair was gray area. They (stores in Houston) could have said I needed a new tire, and I never would have known better. From the moment I stepped into the store I felt valued as a Customer. The big win for me was the day of the tire install. The store wifi was down and I had planned to work remotely from their lobby. I understood issues happen with internet connections, so told the manager I was going to go next door to the coffee shop to grab a coffee and work. When finished with my van, the manager personally drove it to the coffee shop, thanked me for my business, handed me the keys and walked back to his store. If you need tires GO TO DISCOUNT TIRE! I was a loyal customer of Discount Tire when I lived in Houston and I am thrilled that they are now in Des Moines. Especially since I've been driving on nearly bald tires for more months than I'm willing to admit. I shopped around online before I put Discount Tire at the top of my list just to be sure. My dad loves helping me with these kinds of tasks so last Saturday we planned to physically shop around for tires. As is customary behavior for my dad when he's shopping around, he was a total bulldog to the nice tire salesman, Kyle, but this did not deter Kyle. They don't work on commission at DT so they're genuinely just trying to set you up with the tires that are right for you. Kyle priced out some tires for us to consider. At DT they have tiers of price and quality ranging 1 to 3 stars. I went with a 3 star tier Yokohama tire and for an extra fee (I think it was somewhere around $80?) I have a certificate for repair, refund or replacement with DT on these tires. We didn't get the tires that day, but I called later that week to set an appointment to purchase and have them installed. They were super quick and accommodating. I think I was there a total of 30 minutes. All in all, five star experience! read more

Took our car in today as we had a low tire pressure warning this weekend. They found a nail (big surprise with the wind storm) they patched it and sent us on our way. No charge. We had not purchased these tires there as they came on the vehicle when we bought it. But when we do need to replace them; we will return to this store. When he did a safety inspection I found out one of my other tires needed to be replaced. Zung gave me a great deal for both tires to make sure I was not undersold. Super prompt! They told every customer 45 minutes and damn did they do that. When I got there, it was packed. Every single person in the waiting room was in and out by the time I checked in. Homeboy who checked out my tires noticed that the back ones were wearing funny, and asked if I had felt any vibrations. I hadn't, but we replaced them anyway. Wasn't planning on spending $600 on tires that day after realizing I had a flat, but I'm glad that I did, because once the old ones were off and the new ones were on, I realized that the old ones were NOT going to safely see me through another winter. BTW, I noticed my sensor saying that the air in my tires was low & took it in to VW the day before since I couldn't visibly see any flattering or air loss. The lot tech there told my husband that it was due to the fluctuation in temps and that nothing was wrong. Less than 24 hours later not only was my tire flat but the rear ones were showing signs of wear and tear that could only be noticed by taking a closer look. (Which I had asked the service Dept at the dealership to do). I'm really lucky the guy at Discount Tires was smart enough to take that look. I purchased 4 tires and rims online at the Discount tires direct. The cost were the best I could find anywhere. They were shipped to me with in 3 days. I placed them on my vehicle and noticed my tire pressure light was on. I took the car to the new Urbandale location and they reset the warning light and checked that all lugs were set to specification. They did not charge me any additional charge. I had the best experience yesterday at this store. I had a guy Kyle call me to tell me my tires were in, & to come right in to get them installed. I walked in & Brendan helped me. Both of the guys were funny, pleasant & so friendly. I bought two new tires at the urbandale location. My third wheel would of been ok through winter but their high pressure salesman after 20 min of saying no, sold me a used tire because i was tired of him harrassing me. Spent 400 dollars total, and i went to pick my wife up a mile down the road, then to the movie theater, a total of 3 miles. I got out of the movies to a half i flated used tire. When i went back to question, they told me i ran over wood and it popped my side wall, the same damn used tire they put on, all other tires were fine. They did nothing for me, they said it was my fault. I drove 2 miles, and know i didnt run anything over on merle hay road and douglas ave. They scammed me, sold me a bunk tire, i couldnt get my old fire back even, i HAD TO BUY A NEW ONE. Dont go here, you will be ripped off.
