Discount Tire was mentioned, so I looked up the closest location. I called ahead, and Chris informed me that they were fully booked with appointments but could schedule something for the next day. I was also welcome to come in for a walk-in, as they accept those all day. I decided to take my chances with a longer wait time. When I checked in, Antonio told me there might be a chance that the tire wouldn't be repairable, depending on the angle of the nail, but he was confident they could fix it. He also delivered the bad news of an estimated wait time of nearly 2.5 hours. Fortunately, he was mistaken; between receiving a text with a link to track my status and a text saying my vehicle was ready, only 1 hour and 10 minutes had passed. Honestly I'm just very disappointed. This was the last chance I'm ever giving to discount tire. I went in to get some TPMS sensors installed. Was told it would be about $20. Since I had already bought some from them before for $300. I was like okay great. When I showed up, I ended up waiting about an hour for them to even look at my car. They finally came out and took a look at my vehicle and told me they wouldn't service my tires due to them being so wore down. Which I completely understand so I said okay what will it take to get them done. They said we have to give you 4 new tires then we will do the sensors so I'm like okay sounds good. The total for 4 tires came out to $1400! I couldn't believe it, but had no choice because I needed them done. So I said okay I'll do it and it ended up taking them a week to get the tires in. Which I understand but is very inconvenient. So I show up on the day of my appointment and it took about 30 minutes to figure out where the tires even were. Turns out shipping was delayed okay I get it. I left the car with them at 8am in the morning. They didn't get to it till about 4pm in the afternoon. I get a call from one of the guys at the store saying they can't get my center caps out they are stuck. I told them I just had them off and proceeded to tell them how to get them out with out breaking them. I told them to be careful because I just got the car professionally detailed and I don't want anything scratched or broken. I get another call right after saying the caps on my lugs nuts fell off and ask me if they wanted me to purchase a set of theirs for $100! I declined and said I'd buy my own. Not once did they say sorry or ask how they could make it better, offer to replace the lug nuts or discount the service... I show up and find my car with no center caps, my wheels all scratched up, my car was completely dirty and had grease and grime all over my steering wheel... That detail I just had done the day before was $500... So I walk in to grab my keys and get handed a zip lock baggie with my broken center caps and basically get told to have a nice day. I was in complete disbelief. No I'm sorry. No we took some money off your service for your inconvenience. Nothing at all. So in all. This service has cost me $1400 for the four tires, $100 for new lug nuts, $100 for new center caps and another $250 to get the car detailed again. Then all my time and money to re paint the wheels, install the new lug nuts and center caps. Coming out to a grand total of $1850 for 4 tires. Very very disappointing this will be the last time I ever go to Discount tire. I will be taking my car else where for any service that needs done in the future. read more

These grifters sold me a tire I didn't need. I towed my car to Discount Tires because my girlfriend had a flat. They said I had TWO tires that needed replaced (after they tried to sell my girlfriend four tires) when I only had ONE flat tire. I wasn't there to look at the tire so I had to take the mechanics word over the phone. He LIED to me and there was nothing wrong with the other tire. I knew something wasn't right because very rarely does anyone get two flat tires at the same time. I told them to put both tires in the trunk so I could look at them when she got home. Sure enough there was nothing at all wrong with the other tire. I'm never going to use this place again. They take advantage of people who don't know anything about cars. Tires are one of those parts of your car that you just don't think about until you see a huge bolt penetrating the tread. You then hope it's repairable until tire shops are unwilling to repair them because they're too close to the side wall. Discount Tire was by far the most cost effective option after days of research and was slightly nervous about using them but my experience was very very good. I needed a new tire and found out the tread on the remaining tires were 5/32nd of an inch which is low when you have two new tires so I decided to fork up just under $700 for four all new tires for my crossover vehicle. Discount Tire was one of the few shops that actually carried and sold the stock tires that came with my vehicle. They were also half the cost to that of Costco for a comparable tire (Costco sells "name brand" tries like Michelin & Bridgestone). They even provide life-time tire rotations, air checks, and wheel balancing for the life of your tires which is exactly what Costco offers. The staff that I encountered were super friendly and even went out during a thunderstorm with pouring rain to my car to check my vehicle (not even an umbrella on hand). Once he came back, drenched in rain, he checked me in, got my information and gave me a estimated time of completion which was nearly exactly on the dot. Friday was a busy day and so I waited about an hour and 45 minutes. Pro tip: the middle of the week is the least busy and coming in near the end of the day or right in the beginning can get you in and out in an hour or less. There is a good amount of seating, free coffee, and bottled water while you wait. They even have Wi-Fi but had a bit of trouble with it cutting off which was the only negative. Although I caution all consumers to do their research online and local tire shops in KC, I do think Discount Tire has competitive prices with very good value. Check their website as they can get tires to your nearest shop in a day if it is not already in stock. read more

I came in before noon and left my car to have my car tires rotated, I had to Uber there and back to discover my car hadn't been serviced since they couldn't find the wheel lock key in the cup holder where I told him it was located. Then once I brought the key in and said here is the key nobody was able to find I then was told one of my tires were unserviceable. But no one told me that when I left the vehicle for nearly 5 hours and wasted two Uber charges. I'll include the tire in question as well. Not that the tread lines at all. No there are not perfect new tires by any means but they still have enough life to be considered for a tire rotation considering when I don't rotate enough then they deny my mileage warranty. I had a slow leak in my tire that I had been trying to get fixed for a couple of weeks, and due to COVID closures and my working full time at my office it was tough to find a place to do a patch in the late afternoon. I finally found this place (after a referral to Discount Tire from my sister) and the guy on the phone had no hesitation in telling me that if I could be there by 5:30 (they closed at 6!) that they'd take me. I was thrilled, rushed out of work and got there right at 5:30. Right away I could tell that they were already slammed so I got worried, but tried my luck and went inside anyways. The guy who helped me, Josh, was VERY nice and accommodating and didn't seem at all inconvenienced that yet another customer had walked in 30 min before close. He came out to check my tire, noted the immediate defect and even did a safety check for all of my tires! He was fast, but not rushed. We walked back inside and he went over my tires' status and was honest about when to replace them, definitely no sales pitch. Got my order started, he gave a good time estimate and even offered to call/text me when it was close to my turn. I was able to go to a local spot and grab some food while I waited! They called me (like they said they would) and my quick tire patch was done in like maaaaybe 15 minutes. While they were working on it, they also checked my pressure sensors and FIXED THEM. My sensors had been off but I wasn't bothered too much and just figured I'd get to it eventually. Best part? ALL. FREE. I know that the whole reason they patch flats for free is for return customers but it worked for me! Nathanael helped me out we looked over the tires and decided to change them ( I had plans to do that in Denver when I got home in a few weeks). Nathanael did something that was unexpected also which has never been recommended to me ever. He suggested I exchange my spare that is about 12 years old (on the outside it looks new, as well as it has never been used) he then explained to me was that in spite of its new like condition there was a possibility if I ever need to use it , the rubber on the inside could in fact be old and might be dangerous to drive on, he mentioned several other people had had similar problems recently using old spares that looked new that failed as people we driving. He said lets use one of the tires were taking off , so no cost so we did just that.
