Recently bought new tires for my truck. The chrome wheels were severely damaged when the chrome on the wheel rims flaked off in many places. I was told this often happens on Ford OEM wheels but I know the rims were in excellent shape prior to this this. Needless to say I was not pleased. The service manager, Allen, took responsibility for the damage and offered me replacement rims at no cost. Maybe this is because I have been going there for 40 years or maybe this is just how they treat all customers. The end result is excellent customer service and a customer who will continue to go back for another 20 years. As a long time customer of the Midland store, I can attest to good, fair, prices and service over the years. I would heartedly recommend this store. read more

Looking for a tire place? GO HERE. I stopped in (without calling ahead, not that you need to) because my tire had been leaking air for a few weeks. They saw me right away and told me they'd have it done in 45 minutes. Almost exactly 45 minutes later (if not sooner), my car was ready to go. They told me exactly what the problem was, and patched it up good as new! I was ready to pay for the time and effort put into my car, but they said it was on the house? BEST SERVICE IN TOWN. Recently had a flat tire and brought it in for repair. They checked both rear tires and found a leak around the rim in the other rear tire. This is, I think, the first time I have gone to the Midland, MI store (I have always gone to the Bay City one). High quality and good guest service must be a brand thing, because I got both at each store. I made the same mistake at each store, and went about noon, which seems to be their busiest time, so requires a bit of patience because around noon, there will be some wait time. read more

I setup an appointment for rotating tires over the phone and asked about checking for leaks on two tires. 30 minutes later I was back on the road with rotated tires, two fixed rim leaks, and a contactless experience. I have been a customer of Discount Tire for decades, both when I lived in Florida and here in Michigan and they have never given me bad service. Today was an exception and a glaring one. I pulled in at 3:00, two hours before they close for the day. One of the 3 or 4 men up front promptly greeted me and asked if they could help me. So far so good. I told him I needed my tires rotated and the pressure set for the colder weather. He asked if I was dropping it off or if I was waiting. This is a 15 minute procedure, so I said I would wait. I had noticed at least 2 open bays when I pulled in and there were only 3 customers in the lobby including the small child of one of the customers. He told me it would be 4 to 5 hours until it was done. Again, they close in 2 hours. I asked him if he was serious and he assured me he was. My thought is if you are that backed up, even though you have open bays and people standing around in the front of the shop, maybe you need to call in a few more employees to make this situation more expeditious. I have spent in the area of $2400 in the past 3 years alone at this store and I believe it may be time to take my business elsewhere. read more

Made an appointment online, it was confirmed and I showed up 5 min. early. Was told to stay in my car and they would let me know when they were ready. 83 degrees, mask on, no shade anywhere and only one stall in operation. Even though my windows were open, I could feel the temperature rising inside my car. After 37 minutes waiting with no one giving me any kind of update - I left. I know things are not normal, but this is inexcusable and potentially dangerous. read more

The tire on my pick up (purchased last summer from Discount Tire) blew out after I hit a pile of debris - I think - couldn't see it, but heard it clear enough while driving home last night. I took it in to Discount Tire this morning and they replaced it in about an hour for only $65...which I consider more than fair. This is the best place to get tire service in the area. The people here are very nice, helpful, and knowledgable. I had to replace all of my wheels and they did it quickly without charging me an arm and a leg. Quick service and quick ordering if you have to get something they don't have. This used to be my favorite place to take my car but the atmosphere was completely different when I went in recently with a flat tire. Not only did it take over 2 hours to get my tire fixed the person that took my information ran out to look at my other tires and then began recommending replacement of everything. Do they assume that ppl that walk in there all have unlimited funds. The guy was also less than friendly and seemed more intent on upselling and getting as much money from everyone that walked through the door. I watched while they...one after one brought ppl up to "discuss" their slow air leaks and recommended buying new valve stems. This place has become like Tuffy Muffler but they don't upsell as well. Everyone is friendly and helpful, and the prices are the best you can find. Today, I had made an appointment for four economy tires to be placed on my car. They mistakenly forgot to order the tire, and therefor replaced them with the next higher grade tire at the originally quoted economy price. I've been a dedicated customer for the last 15 years. I always went to this location for all of my tire needs as they used to have exceptional service. After the last two visits, I will never go back. The service was absolutely terrible on the last visit. There was not a single employee in the store when I walked in. I waited about 10 minutes before a sales rep finally made an appearance. After taking all of my information, he asked if I was leaving the vehicle. I told the rep that I was going to wait. He said that it may be two hours before they could get it in. I was going to be in town for awhile, so I told him that I will be back in about an hour and a half. He told me that it's first come, first serve and that if I left and came back I would still have to wait about two hours. I told him calmly "that isn't right." He immediately got defensive and nasty. I wasn't going to argue. I just turned around and walked out. Never again will I go back or recommend them to anyone. read more
