Purchased 4 new Yokohama tires from here complete with the lifetime coverage for repairs and flats. Have since replaced two tires because of nails. Always extremely helpful staff. They take their time explaining your options and as long as you come in with a set budget they won't push you too hard or try to up charge you. Today I needed a tire replaced. I bought the current set from just tires next door. I first went to them but they were busy and asked me if I had could wait, but I could not wait that long so I called discount tire next door and they said they had the tire and could take me right in. Awesome ! But here is where it started to go regretful. I walk In and said that I just called about a tire and I was acknowledged and he went outside to inspect tire. I showed him tire in trunk and agreed needs to be replaced. He asked where I got the tires and I said "just tires" next store but they were busy. Instead of saying no problem we can help you, I get a Erie look and was told that " sorry to hear that, they suck and have horrible service and just want your money" I did not say a word and said let's just put a tire on. We go inside and the guy helping me gets the other 2 sales guys by me and tells them about me buying tires from" just tires" telling me how bad they are and my car may have bad "studs and maybe used tires not new" and finally after making me feel real weird they told me that my 1 year old tires must go and put " honest tires on" all I want is 1 tire , they refused to agree saying you must replace ALL TIRES, and told me 600. Dollars and they reached for my keys and said we can have you done in 30 min.... Remember I just wAnted one tire to match up not a head ach. So I told them no thanks on service and he followed me to my car demanding for my business, and I told him that am not buying here and please leave me alone, so by then I was pressed for time and did not get new tire on and had to drive into the city with a spare on. It doesn't matter how cheap the tires are when the staff who installs the tires are unable to do what they should. They stripped out a wheel bearing on a simple tire rotation!!!!!! My 12 year old kid can hand screw in the wheel bolts without stripping them out!!!!! I would strongly recommend you paying a little extra and go to Costco read more

Had a nail in my tire. Walked in around 8 a.m. Busy place (as always), but not too busy to notice me waiting. Everyone assured me someone was going to help me, and someone did immediately. Malesh (I hope I heard his name right) was very helpful. Thought I would need a new tire, but tried to take out the nail first and see if the tire was leaking air. It looked good, told me to watch out for the tire pressure and not needing new tires! What a relief. I asked how much I owe, and was told nothing. Wow! This place came very highly recommended by my husband and it was him who told me to bring my car to this place. I am glad I did. Everyone was professional, respectful and and very helpful. I went in for a tire balancing because the weights fell off of one of my wheels. I asked for just the wheel that's missing weights to be balanced. So after 90 minutes of waiting it's my turn finally. One of the guys brings in my car and starts taking off all my wheels...whatever, no big deal I thought. Then they proceed to throw my wheels around, broke my center cap on one wheel, left the wheel lock on the wheel as they were pulling out my car once they finished. Then they let a guy who hasn't driven a manual transmission be the one to bring the car out. He pulled it out, slipping the clutch waaaaaay to much, then stalled and tried to restart the car while it was rolling and failed, he finally rolled it up to the door after some more crazy clutch killing slippage. He did own up to breaking the center cap, but I had to point out the forgotten wheel lock still sitting on the lug. So now I have to wait for them to buy me a new one, said they'll call me when it comes in. Nice guys, but this is irresponsible. It's not like I have an old car and the caps a brittle and easy to break, it's 2011 and in pretty good shape. Very disappointed, and will probably take my business elsewhere next time. I have come here for years with no such issues on the other cars I've driven. 2 stars for owning up to their mistake, but shouldn't it be a requirement to be able to drive a manual transmission if you're working in a shop that services cars? read more

Discount Tire is the place to go..I was originally going to buy tires at Sam's Club but was told they had to special order them and pay for them before they ordered.Total 3 to 5 days. At DT, they had my tires in stock,.....pleasant, helpful, courteous, and knowledgeable was Sebastian who took care of me..They even matched my price from Sams Club....Everyone was working hard to get everyone out in time..Total time waited 1 hour.. I only came into this location to buy a set of black gorilla wheel locks for my 2011 grand cherokee. When I arrived this morning I got much more than I expected when I spoke with Bill, who is the manager. After explaining to him my situation of lifting my jeep and upgrading my wheels and tires he offered to match what I was paying at wheelfire.com for 4 wheels and 4 tires including TPMS sensors. He did better than his promise of matching wheelfire ...he beat them by $20. Then he showed me an even better tire for quite a bit less $$$ than what wheelfire had to offer which are 33x12.5R20 Nitto Mud Grapplers. So all said and done I walked out of there paying less than $100 more than I originally planned and got a MAJOR upgrade in tires, along with a full 20 piece set of black gorilla locks and few added bonuses. Those are: free installation, balancing, rotations, repairs etc which at that point made this a no brainer. I look forward to installation day after my R.R.O. lift and level kit is installed. It was a little hard going through the entrance with my grandma because they were doing construction on the other side but walked in and was helped right away. Frustration is not the proper word. Bought my 4th set of tires at this place. Never had any problems other than long wait time at this store. Unfortunately , my last purchase wasn't as smooth as it should have been. It started in November 2017. Ordered a set of wheels and winter tires. I go to my appointment , they install the tires , they check the rims to see if they fit. All good till they took the car off the lift. Bad news , the rims are to small for the front calipers, now the rims & the calipers are scratched. Good job , brand new car ( high performance car ) with the calipers scratched. I didn't make a big deal out of it , even though I should have. I ended up with some random rims they had in stock, big mistake. They probably sold me some stuff they couldn't sell. Didn't care that much , since they where for winter use. I left the place , get on the highway , the car shakes like crazy over 55 mph. I scheduled another appointment to have them rebalance. Second visit for rebalance , oops, they installed the rims without the hub rings. Again , not a big deal. Told the guy to install the hub rings so I can be on my way. I was told that they don't have them in stock and it will take about a week to get them. In the meantime I had to drive the car like that , not good. I go back a week later for a 3rd appointment. They install the hub rings , rebalance the rims. I get on the highway , same problem , car shaking over 55 mph. This is getting boring. I went back again to rebalance the rims. The technician confirms that the weights are off. He promised me he will take care of it. Again , I leave the place , get on the highway , same problem , car shaking over 55mph. At this point I was ready to explode. Called the store , asked to talk to a manager. Talked to Bill , who promised me he will make it right. How is this possible , nobody that works there can balance a set of wheels wright? I mean , you have state of the art equipment. Is it poor training or they just don't care. Any way , I told Bill that I don't want the rims and tires, I wanna change them to a different brand. He was very helpful in that regard , not on the price though. I tough I'm getting a good deal , but I didn't. I did some research afterwards , my bad. Bill told me they will call me when they get the new set of rims . I get the call that my stuff is in and I can go wherever I can , they will get me in. I get there, I talk to one of the managers , don't remember his nam , he tells me that I don't have an appointment and that they are very busy . I told him that I don't care , that my appointment was two months ago and I wouldn't have been there if they would have done their job two months ago. I had to talk to Bill again and he took care of the problem. He told me that he will have one of his best guys work on my car. They pull my car out , call my name, I go looking for the guy that worked on my car to give him a tip when I realized that the tires are very low , not enough pressure. He adjusted the pressure and I was on my way. This time they did a good job even though it took them two months. So , last week I called again to make an appointment to swap the winter wheels with the summer wheels. The appointment was supposed to be for Saturday 05/12/18 at 4:00 pm. I get to my appointment and one of the sales reps tells that I don't have an appointment and I have to wait two hours. After doing a little research he told me that my appointment was on Thursday 05/10/18 at 4:00 pm. I told that it is not possible because I was at work at that time and I would have not scheduled an appointment when I'm at work. Than he advised me to talk to Kevin , who made the appointment. I talked to Kevin and he tells me my appointment was yesterday, Friday 05/11/18 and that they will take care of me but I have to wait two hours +. At this point I just walked out of the store , called Discount Tire in Palatine , they took me in 30 minuets before closing. Discount Tire Mt. Prospect , you lost me as a customer. You need to get your act together and start respecting your customers. My time is just as valuable as yours. I will not be a return customer. read more
