This is the worst customer service you will ever receive in your life!!! We had our truck towed here for estimate on transmission. After getting an estimate that we were not that thrilled with we said we would come pick up the vehicle. Upon arriving, we noticed the truck was parked on a side street 1/2 block away from the place and there was damage to the hood. Of course, the company went into immediate defense mode and accused us of lying, etc. Even the owner was hostile, accusatory and just downright rude. I was driving on the interstate and my low tide pressure light came on. I exited the interstate in hopes to find someone who could check my tires. I saw a place to try. It was Discount Transmission. QUALITY WORK AT A GREAT PRICE! If you want the best for your money you can't go wrong with discount transmission. I had a serious drivetrain issue and mild transmission issue with my AWD truck late one evening. I called all places in the NWI area and this place had the BEST price! people say sometimes you have to give up quality or great customer service for the lowest prices but that is definitely NOT the case here. the owner waited after hours for me to arrive with tow truck. They are also great at communicating and updating you with status of vehicle. They went out of their way to get ahold of part for my AWD truck that GM had a six month waiting period to get! After having a bad experience at a different transmission shop these guys gave me the honest and hard work I was looking for. Diagnosed the problem and didn't try to cheat me out of money by saying things were wrong that really weren't. They even stayed open an extra 15 minutes past close so I could pick up my car. My dad had worked on his own cars into his late 50's . The only work that he didn't do was transmission work. He was 82 this year but the one thing he always told me was for any transmission work, you make sure you take it to Discount Transmission on the corner on Central Ave in Lake Station because that is all they do, transmissions. They get the job done right the first time at a reasonable price. My Dad had taken at least two or three different cars there through my childhood years and I have taken my son's Grand Prix there to have the transmission rebuilt. It was priced fairly and I never had to bring it back for any problems with the transmission again. It ran like it was new for years. I did bring one other car there to have my transmission fluid flushed. They did an excellent job and they are always very helpful and nice when I call about anything. They gave me free advise about a car I was interested in purchasing over the phone, no problem. My neighbor in Valparaiso where I live took his truck to a transmission place in Valparaiso and said never again. He was in and out of there numerous times and finally said enough. It still doesn't run right. I gave him the name of this place in case he ever needs transmission work again. This is the ONLY place I will take any of my vehicles for transmission work or if I need the fluid flushed. read more
