The person they sent out does not want to get their boots dirty (his words) so instead stands on the sidewalk blowing dirt and leaves towards the house, instead of away. When approached, the person was very hostile and was asked to leave and never come back. Suggest finding a different service when seeking gardening services. read more

We hired James' team to prune the 2 acacia in front of our condos. The trees had been butchered for years by our gardener who only created huge knuckles or knots on the tree. It took 2 prunings at 2 different times to get them in good shape. Now they are gorgeous trees. I truly believe you get what you pay for when it comes to the quality of landscape work. They're expensive AND cost us a fortune on our water bill (and wasted A TON) of water. Denying that the water problem we were having was due to the landscaping. Had to bring in a leak specialist to SHOW THEM it was indeed the landscape watering. Rotten lines, broken sprinkler heads - they saw none of that??? Would NOT recommend. read more

We called this company to trim some queen palms on our property. James came on time as promised and agreed to trim them for a reasonable price. After talking it over, we decided to have them removed altogether (which we had been seriously considering already). They ramped up their team, removed all 7 queen palms and spent most of the day with us. They worked hard, cleaned up well and charged a reasonable price for a job well done. James was also very helpful with all our plants, answering all our questions and even fixed a few items with our drippers. We will absolutely be calling them again when we need this type of work in the future. read more

I had three trees removed. James came out first to give me a quote and explained the process. I agreed to hire them and the work was scheduled for the next day. Three men came out and took down a queen palm and large Acacia in the back yard. They cleaned everything up and once done, you could not tell there had been trees there. Then the removed a huge tree from the front yard. They even asked the neighbors to move the vehicles from the street. I was very impressed with the work and the clean up. They were really pros and I'm so happy with the results! read more

I first hired them about 3 1/2 years ago. James was terrific. The price was reasonable, and they did a great job. I've hired them about 3-4 more times, and each time was more expensive than the last, and they didn't do everything they were supposed to do. Work was unfinished. Three large trees had to be removed due to disease. While they removed the trees, they left A LOT of sawdust in the yard, which is still here. Two other citrus trees had to be removed due to disease, but they didn't grind the stumps like they were supposed to. They sprayed the existing 5 citrus trees last summer, and I was supposed to get 3 "free" sprays, starting in November, but I haven't heard from them since. Customer service went from great to non-existent. I'm looking for a new tree service. Would appreciate a good, reliable referral in Rancho Mirage. When I first hired them, I called 2 other companies for estimates. One was ridiculously expensive but lowered his price by $1500 when he knew I was getting lower bids. The other arrived 7 hours late to give me an estimate, so I didn't let him in the gate. I will check back on Yelp for referrals. Thanks. read more

If I could give a 0 star I would. They were supposed to be here a few days ago, they rescheduled for 7 this morning. Didn't show. When called they said they have a country club to do today and wanted to reschedule again. I took off work today and told them no it needed to be today. So they scheduled for 2 pm. It's now 3 and cannot get ahold of anyone or get a call back. Worst service ever do not hire these people! read more

We have had Discount Tree Service trim our palms twice and last year asked them for a quote to remove a tree and stump, with all debris hauled away. Unfortunately they left before actually grinding the stump to grade level, so that it still sticks up a bit from the ground. They also left the stump covered with the ground bark from the job. So much for debris removal. We have asked them numerous times to come finish that job and we have more work to do if they finish job 1. James is no longer returning my phone calls. Discount Tree Service is a BIG ZERO. I waited two weeks for a tree trimming appointment. It was scheduled for Wednesday October 15, 2014 at 7am. No one showed. James Elenes, the owner, did not answer his cell phone. I left a message at the office. They were sorry. Rescheduled for Friday of the same week at 2pm. Cancelled again. I read "Jerry Y's" review and almost didn't contact James because of it. How sad that would have been for us because I found his comments to be totally unwarranted. I called a nursery in Palm Desert to see who they recommended for trimming our trees professionally, as well as the ficus trees (that once was a hedge) that surrounded our property on 3 sides. James showed up within an hour. I was frankly surprised to meet him because he's much younger than the voice of experience he displayed on the phone. Equally surprising was his vast knowledge of trees, trimming, care and maintenance of all kinds of trees on our property. I booked his services and he showed the very next day, finishing the job 1/2 day early. His crew was professional and polite, and they left the yard clean and debris free. James introduced himself to our neighbors and made sure that they were happy with the clean-up on their side, keeping them all happy with the job. After seeing his work, we decided to have him clean up our giant Washingtonian palms (we keep them with a "beard") and trim a few other trees on the property. We had deferred tree maintenance on our property because of the cost and the fact that our gardener hacked the hell out of a few trees without knowing what they were doing; but now we will have James come every year to do the maintenance and keep our home looking neat and clean. I didn't know James prior to this work so I have no hidden agenda...so read the other negative reviews with a grain of salt and let this professional do your job right and without any aggravation. read more
