I paid for the $49 spinal decompression but when I got there instead received X-rays and an adjustment. I have been in constant pain for over 30 days now. My neck popped so loud my ears rang and a pain shot down my shoulder blade/back. I think a nerve was damaged because it has a nervy sensation constantly throbbing especially when I turn my head in that direction. I have headaches often now as well. I tried to get a massage but the therapist said there are spasms under my shoulder most likely from me not having the same mobility now for weeks that the nerve is being triggered constantly. I have Never had a pinched nerve which is what this feels like. I have Never had a shoulder blade issue until now! They didn't even offer to readjust or fix the issue. ZERO empathy or concern. I wouldn't trust going back now anyways but at least offer or act like you give a damn! I emailed them a week later explaining the false advertisement concerns and now constant pain. It took over a week to get a reply. They asked ZERO questions my injury and only offered a refund for the false advertisement/spinal decompression (that never happened). Didn't ask 1 question about the how I felt! I think if he had taken the time to loosen up my joints/muscles with the decompression machine advertised (my whole reason for coming), or used heat, massage, infrared light, clicker tools or the muscle stimulators that MOST chiropractors use I would not have been as tight and now injured and in constant PAIN. I also found it odd that he didn't tell me to relax and prepare for the adjustment it was very fast and weird like he was trying to catch me off guard as if i'm a toddler who needed to be surprised. I literally have been getting adjustments from the best chiropractors for over 15 year. I don't need a sneak adjustment when i'm not fully relaxed...and now injury. I hadn't been adjusted in over a year and was tight from moving etc. You don't go straight into these types of adjustments and you call new patients to see how they are doing. I literally yelled when he popped my neck because it was so loud in my ear and such a weird sharp pain down my back it shocked me. This has NEVER happened to me before. You would think this would warrant a follow up because it certainly isn't the NORM. This was absolutely the WORST adjustment I have ever received. Dr. Clark has helped me a lot with neck pain from a previous car accident. I used to have really bad jaw pain and had trouble sleeping and just relaxing for months. I have genuinely felt improvement and better quality of life from his care plan. I also referred my husband who is suffering from a past rock climbing fall that left him with some bad hip pain. I've seen chiropractors all my life. In Austin I had a couple of chiropractors who were effective and friendly but took a lot of time and concentrated only on the effectiveness of what was done during the office visit. I usually waited several minutes in the office and several minutes having the adjustment. At first I was confused that his appointments were only a few minutes long - shouldn't a "good" appointment take at least 10 minutes? Nope! I was used to getting my whole body addressed and since my lower back hurt a lot, I told him I needed to have everything checked every visit. He listened and willingly changed his treatment approach to accommodate me. He's also careful to be gentle. His office is close to my house, I don't need to schedule in advance, his friendly assistant Amy can tell me a good time to come the day I call to fit my spontaneous schedule, and I don't wait to see him once I'm in the office. He also readily accepted my insurance and continued treatments at a reasonable cost after annual insurance visits maxed out - what a relief! I've had acute pain in my right leg for years, and now continuing hip alignment problems. I initially resisted his recommendation of adjustments for three times a week for six weeks but after 2nd week, I was amazed at how much better I felt and how much my overall pain levels had decreased. I feel my legs are stronger and it became much easier to walk. After the third week, I started asking what I could do at home to help myself. Office was clean and pretty nice. I knew that I just needed an adjustment. Upon seeing the doctor, I was told that all new patients had to get x-rays. To me, this seemed a bit excessive as I just needed a readjustment but I went along with it. Then the doctor told me the reason for my pain in my shoulders and back was that I worked remote on a computer all day, when I have been working remote and on a computer for 2 years and this pain just started. The appointment didn't really help and then they wanted me to come in the next day for another appointment and ANOTHER co-pay to go over my x-rays. If it's a requirement to have new patients get x-rays, then why isn't that built into the appointment times? Before stepping into Dr. Clark's practice over three months ago, I had lower back pain that could be felt down to my feet. I was in p-a-i-n a couple of months ago. Couldn't locate it exactly, but was having some hip and back discomfort. I knew I needed something done, so I called and got in with Dr. Clark on the same day. After xrays and the examination, he did an adjustment and had be come in the next day to review everything. Turns out I my hips were out of alignment (I guess my hip do lie), I had a pinched nerve, and a couple of other things. My treatment plan was to go in three times a week for 6 weeks. I have been seeing Dr. Clark for about two months now, so I guess it's about time I sat down and wrote a review! (after all, because of other great reviews, that IS how I found Discover Chiropractic, so I need to pass it on right!) Dr. Brian Clark saved my life because when you have nerve pain you feel like you are dying. It started with my back feeling like it had been burned by the sun. Later my peripheral nerves were so irritated, I would break out into hives every time the skin of my back would come into contact with water. Soon afterwards, I developed a rash all over my back. The nerve pain began to radiate from my thoracic spine outward, to the point where I was experiencing random patches of burning and tingling throughout my entire body. It was impossible to twist my spine to the degree that I used to; and if I did, nerve pain followed. I had to be mindful to move my back as one entire unit. I went to three other doctors and obtained prescriptions to treat skin irritation, hypersensitivity reaction, nerve pain, and inflammation, but Dr. Clark was the only one who was able to fix the underlying problem and now I am living pain free, on no medications, with increased strength and mobility. Thanks to Dr. Clark I am able to swim, run, and do yoga again. Other doctors just thought I was hysterically stress out, had an autoimmune disorder, or that there was a possibility that I had MS or ankylosing spondylitis, many of which require expensive laboratory testing and imaging. Before going that route, I wanted to make sure my signs and symptoms weren't due to a misshapen spine. After obtaining an affordable x-ray at Discover Chiropractic, I discovered that that was indeed the problem. Dr. Clark showed me that the base of my spine was right shifted and that my neck was considerably bent toward the anterior aspect of my body. As a result, all the stress that I had been exerting on my back was causing a slight "S" shaped curve along my spine. The x-ray reminded me that I had struck my tailbone several years prior, that I had had a rhomboid spasm in my thoracic area, and that I am constantly looking down at books or my phone. Adjusting my spine into a proper state of alignment would have probably taken years with physical therapy alone, but within a couple months Dr. Clark was able to straighten out my spine. Going to Discover Chiropractic is, without a doubt, the best route to take for treating a misshapen spine; just remember to do the exercises that he gives you, actively change your posture (I have a bookstand now and a block that I put my feet on when I am sitting at a desk), try to come into your appointments relaxed, and try to stay compliant with the treatment schedule he gives you. For instance, I was nervous for the first couple of adjustments because the muscles of my back were so tense and my nerves were so sensitive that when tension was relieved from one area of my back, I would consequently feel odd sensations in another part of my body. As a result, I skipped a week of adjustments in the beginning and worked only on the exercises, my spine ended up getting worse, and then I finally came back to continue my treatment. Changing the alignment of the spine is a process and the decision to continue treatment with Dr. Clark at Discover Chiropractic is probably one of the best health decisions I have ever made.
