I saw Dr.Sue regularly for almost two years. I feel like she really loves her job! She was always so knowledgeable about what was going on in the chiropractor world. I liked her because she spent more time on her patients than other chiropractors. Most chiropractors spend about 4 minutes on their patients and ask them to come back 3 times a week. Dr.Sue was able to make a plan that worked for me since she does not take insurance. Her prices are higher but I feel like you get better care. I have been under the care of a sports med doc and physical therapist for a few years for lower back pain. No relief there. I went back to the sports med doc because I was not getting any better and without even examining me he said I had a pulled muscle and prescribed muscle relaxers. No relief again. I first walked in to Dr. Sue's office a few years ago having never been to a chiropractor before, and I've been returning monthly ever since! On day one, my back was just always very tense; I was constantly stretching and rubbing my neck and my lower back, trying to relieve the tension. That improved within the first month of visiting Dr. Sue. After that I have returned to check-in monthly as a general maintenance plan. On my first visit I really appreciated her detailed explanation of how her procedures work to help slowly bring my spine back into alignment, and the affects of the tight "grumpy" muscles in my back. She's always thorough in her explanations and keeps them humorously entertaining. I really appreciate that she takes the time to check in with me to understand any problem areas before each visit. She doesn't just treat the problem, but also explains how to improve your body's support system to avoid the issue in the future. After each visit, she has given me advice like stretches and improvements for my office setup for better ergonomics. These lifestyle adjustments have made a HUGE impact on my overall comfort, especially during these past couple years constantly working from home in front of a computer screen. She is absolutely the best I've ever been to (and I've seen a lot of chiropractors over the years). She listens and is attentive to my needs, which in this case was head to toe (almost) adjustments. After a minor back injury, I needed chiropractic care. After running the gauntlet of chiropractic providers that treat their patient likes a number, my massage therapist Laura (also works at this location, and is amazing) recommended Dr. Sue. She takes her time with you, is incredibly knowledgable about the body/exercises, and her personality really clicked with me: easy going, hilarious, etc... After a hand full of visits I was feeling much much better and she gave me a lot of great materials on exercises I can do to strengthen the areas aggravated by my injury. Recommend! Something to keep in mind, is that they don't work with insurance and are a tad more expensive than other providers I've used. Dr. Sue is amazing! I started seeing her to help with alignment issues and minor back/shoulder/wrist pain from my job. She addressed all my issues, gave me exercises to help strengthen muscles that would provide support and prevent injuries. I few months in I got a blood clot and she was extremely cautious and did a bunch of research about my specific blood clot since it was in a rare area. There are many chiropractors in the Austin area but very few that actually see you as a person and provide individualized care, instead of treating you like a number. Doctor Sue is the best. She makes you feel completely at ease and there's no judgement - I'm not very disciplined with exercise. Doctor Sue never judges me. She's always supportive and tries to help me find ways of squeezing in a stretch here or an exercise there. She calls them "movement snacks". More importantly, I feel better! I have a bad shoulder with a pinched nerve. Occasionally I still get the pinch giving me tingles in my thumb, but the muscle pain is gone! I used to subconsciously rub my shoulder all the time. I have to say, when my previous chiropractor left Austin, I was very hesitant to find another since I had questionable experiences with others. I found Dr Sue by watching Dr Mondragon and Dr McLaughlin. They not only adjust but do myofascial release therapy as well as provide rehab and preventive exercises. There was an option to search for practitioners that provide the same services. I made my appt and I have not regretted it one bit. Dr Sue has helped me resolve a painful foot issue I was having and has provided great exercises to assist in rehabbing and preventing possibly re-injury. I do wish she would use something that provided more pressure for back areas but I'm very satisfied with the job she does. She is understanding of finances and schedules and does her best to work with what you are able to do. Just do your exercises that she gives. Dr. Sue is rare to come by, in all good ways. Finding genuine people in the healthcare who are genuine about helping you is becoming a challenge itself because of how the model is set up: if people are no longer hurting then they won't return...so many chiropractors treat the symptom yet not the source. With Sue, I love that she has actively decided that she wants to do something different. She's very honest with you about her approach and thoughts and what will get you back to health. This is key to why she does not take insurance, which I love. She has educated me on what the causes of my aliments are rather than only treating the symptom. She has really cared about me achieving my optimal health, and has ever extended my team of resources to become a better me. To me, that is key. Finding someone who WANTS you to get better (even when it means less visits with her due to ailments being gone). I return for tune ups and occasional bang ups, yet what makes her recommendable is that she wants the best for me at the end of the day. I trust her. That's true health care. Additionally, Sue is very knowledgeable, it's incredible! She's educated me on why specific ailments happen, the effects they have overtime, and how to change or correct the course. The best part is, she will be honest when she comes across something new and will say " I don't have an answer yet, however, I want to check in with fellow colleagues and figure this puzzle out". The search for a new chiropractor is a miserable thing. Amirite? Maneuvering between the hippy dippy supplement peddlers, the in-and-out-in-5-minutes-with-no-personal-interaction docs, the high-commitment insurance wasters that seem to need you in their office 4 days a week for 6 weeks, and the sports-tastic deep tissue abusers can be a daunting, depressing, time-wasting experience. I'm an active, healthy person who sometimes get slowed down by some chronic back issues. If I want to keep going at my pace, I need someone to keep me straightened out. I just want them to be regular chiropractors. Is that really too much to ask for? Dr. Sue is a cheerful, no nonsense body magician who will sort you out! I started seeing her for a large verifying of pregnancy related aches and pains. Dr Sue sent me home with lots of helpful exercises and ergonomic tips that I'm still using postpartum, and I find the effects of treatment are longer lasting than with other traditional chiropractic care. Dr Sue is amazing. Not only does she cover the primary pains and adjustments that are needed per person, but she works with your overall joint, muscles, and positioning of how your body is suppose to work. I am learning a lot of my body and the exercises are well taught and easy to follow through. I've gone to many Chiropractors in the past that sort of temporarily fix you (so you'd have to spend even more money and time and adjustment) but Dr Sue has a great plan without needing to go overboard on visits. I am super happy I found this practice and will continually go to Dr Sue for what is now minor adjustments. The facility she is at is also well balanced in terms of other practices you may seek.
