I'm not even sure where to start on this review - it is well overdue, but I wanted to be able to give honest feedback, not just in regards to my personal interactive experience with them on my big day, but truly on the quality of their work, hence why I'm writing this now, after receiving my complete entire wedding package. I live locally and have always seen and heard of Discovery Bay Studios... I was never THAT GIRL that envisioned her wedding and knew all the key details she wanted for the day of... I planned along my way... but one thing I knew for certain, even before I met my husband, was that I always planned on having Discovery Bay Studios shoot my wedding. From the very moment we met them, our connection and vibe was instant. They are just good people to the core, who truly care about you and your big day. The week before my wedding, I was struggling to get my timeline together, and I would frantically email Stacey my concerns and he would email me back or call me immediately to ensure they could make everything work and to not stress. They attended our rehearsal and helped coordinate what the day would look like, not just from a photo/video stand point, which I didn't expect, nor did I think that was a "normal" thing photographers do. The day of.... I was a mess, more than I could have ever anticipated, but there was Stacey and Kelly, and their amazing assistants Courtney and Sam there to calm me down, get me centered and get the day going. Stacey conducted my interview for the highlight video, and that was the easiest conversation I've ever had, considering the stress and high emotions of the day. I'm not sure how he does it, but he can make you talk and make you sound amazing on camera. My husband is incredibly quiet and shy, especially around strangers, however during his highlight interview, I still don't know what Stacey did, but my husband spoke with such confidence and articulated his words in a way I've never seen in all our years. I can't say enough good about these people and how they run their company and how they make you feel on your special day. Not only did they take amazing video and pictures, but I had Kelly as a constant support from the moment I started getting ready, to being alone with me in the bridal suite, being the last person to hand me off to my mom and dad. She, along with her amazing assistants got on the ground on multiple occasions to help me with my dress and bustle, to help lay down the foxtails and weeds as we tried to get the perfect sunset shot in the empty field of our venue. The amount of "over and above" behavior they exhibited that day is just beyond words and comprehension. The photography and videography was outstanding. The album was more than I could have ever expected and the full length video of the wedding from start to finish was the best part, because that day, you're in a complete fog and don't remember much. We can't wait to share all of these memories with our children one day. Brittany is awesome!! She made time in a really busy schedule to do a birthday shoot for my 2 year old son. She was very accommodating and open to the locations we had in mind for the shoot. We had the pleasure of meeting Stacey and Kelly through the preferred vendor list at the Swedenborgian Church. Spoke to Kelly on the phone and got a good vibe so we planned a photo shoot for our engagement pictures. We were blown away with the results. They found perfect locations in the city and put together a beautiful slide show montage, which was a fantastic keepsake. And even helped us re-enact the corner where we first laid eyes on each other. Ended up using the pictures for our save the dates!! We knew we were in good hands for our Wedding.... Let me start off by saying that I could not be happier with the services provided by Discovery Bay on my wedding day. Stacey and Kelly were recommended to us by our church, and after an initial meeting with them, we knew we wanted them to shoot our wedding. Their prices were lower than many other photographers providing similar services, but what really stood out was their personalities. At this first meeting, I could tell that they really enjoyed what they were doing and would be lots of fun to work with. We booked an engagement shoot with them, and loved the photos that came out of it. And they really did make the process fun. My fiance, who was dreading the engagement shoot, even admitted that "it wasn't that bad". That's huge! Our wedding pictures are absolutely stunning. Stacey and Kelley captured all of the details, the obligatory posed family shots, and some beautiful action shots which turned out to be some of my favorite pictures. I hired Discovery Bay Studios for my wedding on February 8th, 2014 in Livermore, CA. BEST decision I made through the whole wedding planning process. AMAZING does not do their work justice! SERIOUSLY. I found Stacey and Kelly by chance--they did the photos for two different couples that I know, which I saw on Facebook way before our wedding planning had begun. I'd been looking at the recommended vendors for our venue and although their photos were amazing, I didn't get that "WOW" feeling and was getting a bit worried. I wanted something unique. The pictures for our wedding were in my opinion, the most important takeaway so I wanted to be committed and sure about the photographer I chose. One day, one of my bridesmaids emailed me a link to a photo from my venue and I saw the "Discovery Bay Studios" logo. It rang a bell--the two other couples I knew had their photos done by them. I remembered that their photos were breathtaking and super creative so I took a peek at their website. I was absolutely sold looking through the other wedding albums. It was an album for a wedding they shot at our venue that hooked me. I called them right away to make sure I reserved them for our big day. About a month and a half before the wedding, we took some engagement pictures with a different photographer (I wanted to do this with Stacey and Kelly but we live out of state and couldn't make it back before the wedding). The engagement pictures were AWFUL. Just AWFUL. And it wasn't the actual photos, the photos were beautiful. It was obvious that our photographer was very talented. But what he lacked was the communication. For most people, the kinds of photos you take for a wedding whether they are engagement or actual wedding photos are a bit awkward. You aren't used to posing, especially not in a romantic fashion, you're wearing a big dress or tux, etc. It's intimidating, especially since every bride wants to STUN in her wedding photos. This is why our engagement photos with the unnamed photographer were terrible. And this is not to trash him- we just had a breakdown of communication- he was having us pose in positions that weren't flattering and wasn't quite understanding us as a couple. And to top it off, my husband and I are a bit awkward in photos, as we found out. This made me TERRIFIED about our upcoming wedding photos with Discovery Bay on our big day. With no hesitation- from the MOMENT Stacey and Kelly showed up (right on time, ready to go!), I felt at ease. I felt comfortable. I felt BEAUTIFUL. Something about a team of a husband and wife is just genius. Stacey whisked himself away to my husband and the groomsmen. Kelly sat with me while I got ready. They know what they are doing, let me tell you. Stacey did the video interviews with both of us, which we were SOOOO nervous about. But it was easy to talk to him about the intimate story of how we came to be where we were at that moment, our wedding. That is hard to do on video but Stacey made us feel relaxed, so it was easy. From the beginning of the wedding, they told us exactly where to go, exactly what to do, exactly where to look, pose, how to smile. I need direction like that and I think most brides would appreciate this--TRUST THE EXPERTS! And believe me, they are EXPERTS. They have these ideas for shots that just pop into their heads and make the most amazing photos. It's really something to see. We had a very large bridal party (16 in total with the bride and groom). It's not easy to wrangle everyone! But Kelley gets it done. She will shoo and herd you all into place like a PRO. This is not a time to be senstive--she is stern! But I can't stress this enough--you NEED a stern person to guide you and your bridal party! I was ready to kill one of our groomsman (too many beers before hand) and she put him right in check. Lovingly, of course :) But again, I can't stress this enough. You need someone like Kelly to get everyone in the right places quickly. The less time you spend on photos, the more time you get to enjoy your wedding. And let me tell you, it goes FAST. Besides their amazing work, this is a reason by itself to hire Stacey and Kelly. They get it DONE. Efficiently, professionally, caringly. I cannot thank them enough for the positive experience I had with our photos, especially since I was terrified of being the first bride who took ugly photos! They are just amazing. Simply amazing. And to top it off... they were the ones staying on top of me! Which photo do you want for this? What song do you want for that? I've heard horror stories about brides not being able to get a hold of their photographer or any other vendors for that matter- NOT with Discovery Bay. Stacey and Kelly were a blast to work with and always made us feel so comfortable and relaxed on our wedding day. All of our photos are absolutely breath taking. They were able to capture so many special moments that I look back on almost everyday. Discovery Bay also did videography for us and it couldn't of turned out more perfect. My hubby and I randomly sit and watch our video. It always brings us back to our special day from getting ready to our last dance and still brings me to tears. Our wedding package was so detailed and beautifully done. We LOVE our wedding album and can't stop looking at it! It is amazing how clear all of the photos are and captures our day in the most beautiful way. I am so happy we decided to go with Discovery Bay for our wedding. I had my senior portraits taken last spring by Brooke and Stacey after seeing the tennis pictures they had taken of my sister (who HATES getting her picture taken). Her pictures turned out to be some of the best pictures she has ever taken so I was definitely looking forward to my session. My daughter and future son-in-law got their engagement photos done by Discovery Bay Studios. Not only did they get beautiful photos but Stacey, Kelly and Deidre put up with the "moms" being there and two playful dogs! They were all so profession and most of all, fun!
