There is NEVER a nurse available-just medical technicians, which all are not trained or knowledgeable about medications and they are trusted to care for this vulnerable population with no skill, training or nurse managers. The Administrator is never available and always behind a closed door. I've been coming to Sherwood for many years and it's sad to see the decline. It speaks volumes that the staff looks stressed and unhappy. I will NOT be recommending Sherwood to anyone anymore.

The staff are unfailingly kind and patient- they never make you feel rushed at all. They are knowledgeable, capable and everyone seems very happy there. They are currently going through a remodel and everything looks fresh, clean and beautiful. WO had by far the best food of any place we visited. They moved from their home in Kingson to Washington Oaks together for the first two months. The staff - every one of them!!!, is kind and aware of the needs of the residents. Mom can walk long safe distances with their sky bridges. Physical therapy and Exercise class is on-site. As a result, she keeps strong and keeps walking despite a severe bilateral disability in her muscles. I am confident being here because assisted care is available should she need it. Everyone you meet, staff and residents alike, are friendly and really seem to like it there. Many staff have been there a long time, which tells me the management puts as much emphasis on caring for their staff as they do their residents. The building itself is a wonderfully remodeled, historic school, truly a beautiful structure. The feeling it is cold, and everything is a clean. What he and my family have experienced during this time has been phenomenal. This is a community that truly cares about the individuals they serve. I have not encountered one staff member who has not been exceptional. From the top down-- the executive director, Adam; the business manager and human resources overseer, Joey; the Director of Nursing, Cathy; the Activity Directors, Cindy and Chris; and all nurses, care-givers, kitchen and dining crew, transportation drivers, maintenance and cleaning personnel-- the staff have been amazing: compassionate, responsive, knowledgeable, and cheerful--going beyond the call of duty (even when my 93-year-old dad has grumpy attitude days) -- to truly serve and love the residents under their care.
