Stay far away! My child was being verbally abused for 2 months there. The owner did not care and literally switched it on me and said I should have pulled him out sooner. They also lied straight to our face that he was not crying for over an hour because the video footage didn't show him crying. BUT i know my son and the way he was crying he wasn't just sitting there or standing there crying. I filed a complaint against them. I spoke to other moms in my area and the owners had SCARED them into not putting a complaint. THERE ARE OTHER INCIDENCES FROM THIS SCHOOL! and it has not been spoken about publicly. DO YOUR RESEARCH! there are better schools in the area! read more

We had a mixed experience at this daycare, and now being at a another daycare with several students who were "kicked out" of this school, I think we are not alone. But first, I have to compliment the curriculum - my daughter was learning a lot here, and seemed to have fun doing so. She made good friends and loved her teachers. She was happy. However, teacher turnover was high. Daycares often do have somewhat high turnover as is, but after speaking to someone familiar with the situation outside of school, I understood that there were some specific complaints which I won't go into here but speak to issues with the administration. Now at a different daycare, I've seen hardly any turnover. And we're moving to a school soon we were waitlisted on where several of the teachers have been there for ~8 years. By comparison, I can say turnover was high. We were good customers of this school for a long time, but things turned south for us (due to my husband losing his business). The school would be accurate if they said we became problem customers. Before that time, though, we were very well-treated. I remember being stressed over new parent concerns, and school admins would lend sympathetic ears and offer advice and counsel. I was so happy to be at a school that seemed to really care about the parents and children. But then. After hitting our rough patch, we needed to pay a day late several times, for example. Sometimes two days late. We had to stop paying for extracurriculars, which DP got involved in. A particular situation got out of hand and we were chastised for DP staff having to forcibly remove our child from the extracurricular program due to our nonpayment. (The truth was, I found out later, just a miscommunication between us and the program's head who thought he was helping by letting our daughter attend for "free." When we settled the bill for those extra classes, we found he was not at all angry with us about the miscommunications surrounding our cancellation. The school however, had interjected itself into this situation with this third party, and was even aware of what payments we had/had not made to this program as if it was also their business to collect on the program's behalf. ) We are not bad people, we just hit a financial rough patch. It took a few months, but we got back on our feet, and we haven't missed a single payment at our new school nor any payments for the two extracurriculars our daughter participates in. In an emotional call between the school and myself, I decided that they had really had it with us, decided we were bad people and bad customers and wanted us gone. We gave notice. I was crying on the call because on top of all this with the lost business, the harassment from DP over the finances, I was dealing with a situation involving my mother's health. I was very on edge. The amazing thing to me was that there was absolutely no sympathy or empathy returned even as I explained that I had just gotten off another call about my mother, and was obviously very upset. Maybe we had become bad customers, maybe the school was happy to see us gone, but a modicum of human decency would have been appreciated. Again, even though we briefly and horribly struggled financially, we are good people, good parents who love our daughter, and do our best. There are late fees for being late! If they don't want people who make late payments at this school, then maybe they should have a policy like "3x late" and you're out. That would be more reflective of their mindset. I think the worst part of the whole experience is how much the school's attitude changed. For example, when another child removed their pants and underpants and "humped" my daughter, I was told my daughter had asked the other child to do this. I asked how do you know she said this? (Their video has no audio), and was told that this is what the other child told them! My child has had zero exposure to anything that would give her this idea, but I know kids can just do weird things sometimes. Still, I believe the correct response is not pointing the finger at the victim in this situation. This is one example of how once we had been "bucketed" as "bad people" we were treated differently. If we had been on good terms with the school I think the response would have been different - e.g., we're really sorry we didn't see a child stripping their clothes off and climbing on top of your kid! At the end of the day, I think that it's possible you could choose this school and have nothing but a wonderful or even ideal experience, which is why I wouldn't give them a one star. But if you ever get into a situation like we did, you should know that things will change. There are other daycares that are far more accommodating to late payments - I know because I asked this at every school in the area when looking for a new school. Of course, I've never since made a late payment, so who knows. read more

Our son has attended Discovery Point since age 3. He is very happy there and the staff are all pretty awesome. They greet him each morning when we come in. He has learned a lot there and has done really well in Elementary school. He is now in their before and after care program which is a great convenience for us with working full time. They help him with his homework and he gets free time to get out all his energy. Thanks DP! read more

We couldn't be happier with the loving, professional staff at DP! Our eldest son is thriving and learning so much. The teachers devote so much time, energy, and creativity to their lesson plans. I know that he will be well-prepared for kindergarten. We just recently had a second child who is in the infant room. He adapted so easily when I went back to work, in large part because the staff is so attentive and sweet to him. In addition to the wonderful staff, the facility is spotless and well managed by excellent administrators and an involved/invested owner. I rest easy knowing that both of our children are safe and given excellent care every day. read more

My daughter was 6 months old when she start at Discovery Point Lexington. I'm so unbelievably happy with these teachers each day. My daughter absolutely loves her teachers and cherished her time there. She is now in VPK wraparound and is so incredibly intelligent. She came home with homework that had the word Lever, Pully, etc and she explained what each item was. I have four kids and she was never exposed to this with us. I am also a teacher and know how amazing these teachers are! Thank you!! Her first project ever! read more

We have been at this school for three years now. I absolutely love it. The teachers are teachers that have been there as long as we have. They have an amazing after school program. It is hard to find a daycare that you really love, especially one that you trust to take care of your kiddos like you would. Their staff and owners are wonderful and truly do love the kids. read more

My 4 year old has been at Discovery Point at Lexington Oaks for almost 2 years and my 1 year old just started a few months ago. We originally started out doing 2 days a week and quickly moved to 3 and now 5 days/week! We love it so much! My older son has really enjoyed every teacher he has had in all of the classes he's been in over the last 2 years. He has learned so much and can't wait to go to the VPK program in August. As a parent, I love the app where I can see updates throughout the day of what my kids are learning, eating and how long their naps are. We had our baby here for 2 months. At first glance, you think wow nice baby room, very bright and nice looking. But take a closer look, 12 cribs and tons of toys and objects to get germed up. There is not enough time in day to sanitize all of the stuff and with 12 of them, way to many germs going around. Our daughter was sick a lot and then they would complain about wiping her nose and giving her extra attention when she didn't feel so great. My suggestion is find a daycare with less babies and less stuff, we did and we had a healthier and happier baby. Don't get caught up in the inexpensive price tag on this place, there is no price for your babies health and well being! read more

My 2 1/2 year old daughter has been going to Discovery Point for almost a year and a half now, and we have been absolutely THRILLED with the center. Growing up, my mom ran a family daycare center out of our house, so I was VERY critical of the different childcare options we considered. Discovery Point has exceeded our expectations in every way! We love the look of the center - there are so many windows, both on the exterior and interior walls, so it is a very bright, sunny environment with a lot of visibility into the rooms across the center (which makes me feel more comfortable from an oversight perspective). We also love that the playgrounds are all covered - very important in Florida but surprisingly rare among the centers we looked at. Far more important (to me at least) than the look and feel of the center is the treatment and care she receives while she is there. To that end, the teachers are fantastic - you can tell they genuinely care about the kids and take the time to give each and every child personal attention. They also do a great job of keeping us informed of how our daughter is doing, what she did each day, what her mood was like, etc. There is a strong focus on learning and they do it in a fun way through play, songs, arts/crafts, etc. Our daughter is constantly suprising me and my husband by singing new songs and reciting new things she learned at school. Within a couple weeks of starting there, we could already tell a significant difference in her comfort level with other people and her social skills with other kids. She often talks about her "friends" and gets excited about going to daycare so she can play with them. Bottom line - choosing a daycare is a huge decision, and we have been extremely happy with the choice we made. I feel like I can actually focus on my job when she is at Discovery Point because I know she is in great hands and is getting fantastic care while she is there. read more

My child has been sick every single day for 3 months. She's been coming to this daycare for over a year and was never this sick until she got to the toddler room. The toddlers have dried snot on their faces regularly. Recently I picked my daughter up early and found her napping with food all over her face. The teenage care givers don't clean up the children, so you know they aren't cleaning the room, toys, etc. They seem to have high turn over in the toddler room and the new teenagers have no training or supervision. I've seen a 2 year old climbing a bookcase while the care giver watched. My final straw was picking up my 17 month old and feeling how wet her shirt, pants and diaper were... then the care giver had the nerve to giggle and say she was so embarrassed! She knew my child was in wet clothes and she didn't bother to change her. Needless to say my child had a terrible diaper rash. Who knows how long she was left in wet clothes and a wet diaper?!?! I would honestly never recommend this place, with the exception of the infant room which was awesome. Management just seems more focused on chatting with each other and not as interested in supervising teenage employees who leave kids in wet clothes and let them climb bookcases. read more
