I can say this because I recently toured about 10 similar facilities in South Tampa and the surrounding area (in preparation for a move) and not a single one of them compare to what my daughters have at KRK-MP. First, the classrooms are huge! The space that my girls have to run, play, learn, eat and sleep is unheard of. This is ideal, especially with all of the rain we have in Florida. I also think it's nice that the students don't have to sleep where they eat. There is space to do both, and the cots are lifted off the ground! Secondly, the cleanliness of the building, classrooms and the staff is second to none. Other daycares often have a smell of dirty diapers or food, and this is understandable in certain rooms, or even at certain times of the day. However, KRK Meadow Pointe never smells unpleasant. (It usually smells delicious from Sonia's yummy cooking.) They are very good at disposing trash, in fact I see them do it ever time I'm there! I also always see them cleaning their rooms, the toys, and washing the linens daily. Third, the staff is amazing, like family, and most have been there since we started! We love them all, and my daughters don't warm up to anyone quickly!) My girls have learned so much in the two years (3 years combined) that they have been there. The teachers are always smiling, welcoming, friendly and fully-involved with the kids. They don't just watch them, they interact with them. When I go to the classrooms, or view the cameras, I see the teachers singing to the students, doing circle time, showing flashcards, doing crafts, teaching concepts to the students, and, of course, changing diapers and helping potty-train! My 3 year old comes home asking me to sing songs I don't know and how to play games I've never heard of! She is constantly spouting out information that I definitely didn't teach her, but wish I had! Finally, the logistics of KRK is secure and comforting. There is a door code entry and touch pad exit to the facility, and then a computer sign in/out at the front desk. Then, each classroom also has it's own door that can lock for the little ones if necessary. The staff are always doing head counts and keeping within proper ratios also! There are also cameras for added convenience, which I love! I truly am grateful for Kids 'R' Kids at Meadow Pointe and hope I can find something as wonderful wherever we go next! My other sister got locked outside for 30 minutes because they "didn't realize she was outside" despite the fact she was crying and banging on the door. There was bugs and literal MICE in the bathrooms. You could smell they didn't clean the bathrooms. It smelled terrible. When you got hurt, they did nothing. You could break all your fingers and all your toes and they would just put you in "The boo boo room" which is just a room with a bed and a tv. There was no nurse and no people with any medical knowledge at all. Please don't send your kids here, for the love of god.

Pros: -this place is CLEAN clean (more below on this) -the staff is super friendly and everyone knows our names and our child's names -the building and location feel safe and secure -bilingual- our toddler can say SO many things in English and Spanish already! -the curriculum is high-quality and we are blown away with how much our toddler is learning each day -the staff have worked with us on some behavioral issues- they have such a wealth of knowledge and new ideas to try, plus they were great with communication so we could be on the same page at school and home -great hours Cons: None (no really, there are none) We accidentally showed up, unannounced, to S&S in Lexington Oaks because we confused their location with the location in Land O' Lakes (totally unaffiliated schools). We were really impressed with the location and how kind the staff were, so we asked if we could have a tour. The owner, Ms. Zee, did not hesitate and invited us in for an impromptu tour. When I saw this location is clean, I mean clean as in we showed up unannounced, right after lunch, and it was spotless and clean. That sealed the deal for us- we knew right then that this is what the school always looks like. Our child had some behavioral issues and the school and teachers went above and beyond to help us figure out what the issue was and to address it both at home and school. They gave us resources and recommended an Early Steps (they are also great!) evaluation to ensure there were no developmental delays that we could all address together. S&S always worked with us on these issues, which is so reassuring to a parent (especially first-time parents like us). We are so appreciative to have accidentally walked into the wrong location, with the right director and teachers, and found this awesome preschool!

She was in a different daycare prior to Sugar and Spice where she was adored we never had any issues. I wanted to try out a new daycare to give her more structure, less screen time, and have better communication. I was falsely reassured that S&S communicated everything through their app regarding the child's day, pottying, and provide multiple pictures of what your child is doing throughout the day. My first day picking up my child, the only report I got were about how "busy" she is and how she did not want to nap. They stated she was climbing and did not always listen to instruction. I apologized and said it was her first day and is just testing boundaries (she had just turned 3 the week prior). Everyday after that was a report about how "busy" she was and how she "can't sit still". Again, SHE IS 3. The owner, Ms. Zee, suggested she might need a "sleep study" since she didn't easily nap. I explained that I was a pediatric nurse practitioner and that she sometimes won't nap if she's not tired enough. She also sleeps fine at nighttime. The topic was dropped. Throughout the next couple of weeks, my child would refuse to go inside and cry for me. I figured this was just a separation anxiety and would pass, but she was like this the whole two months while enrolled here. There were multiple times that things charted on my child's "daily summary" did not make sense. For example, they would put that she needed more diapers when my child is potty trained and doesn't wear diapers. I figured it was a one off until it kept happening. There were instances that said she would "eat lunch from home". My child didn't have a lunch from home. When I asked what was happening, I was told that it's easy to miss a button and chart on the wrong kid. Okay fine, but then it happened again. I brought it up and was told that there was another girl in her class with the same name who they probably were confusing her with. So how long were the daily reports I was getting not even for my child? This bothered me, but again, I let it go. Moving on to the final phone calls we got her last two weeks here: It was 9 AM when I received a call from Ms. Zee. I picked it up in case it was an emergency. I should have known it wasn't. It was a phone call to tell me that my child had pushed another child to the ground, hit another child in the face, and then pushed another one off a bike in the span of two days. I was taken aback as my child is not a hitter/pusher. I had never received any report of her hitting another child in her previous daycare. She then said they were "documenting these instances" and recommended my child gets BEHAVIORAL therapy and early intervention, even an IEP so she is ready for kindergarten. The sleep study was mentioned again. At this point, I'm frustrated and thrown off because this information is being told to me over the phone an hour after dropping her off. I questioned why she thought my child would need behavioral therapy when this was a one off occurrence and she has never shown these behaviors before or at home. I also firmly restated that a sleep study was not warranted and reminded her of my profession. She said, and I quote "well then you should know that early intervention is key." Let's talk about this later because again, it's 9 AM on a work day. Later, she showed us video of our child pushing others (not a teacher in sight by the way when these things happened) and we had a long talk with our child about why she can't do that. The next week we were told she's doing great. Fast forward to the week after, that Monday. We get a phone call at 11 am saying that she repeatedly pushed another kid because she didn't want to share her legos. Not okay, but again she's 3. Not according to Ms. Zee. My child was now a problem child. We were told we needed to pick her up immediately. When my husband picked her up, he was told that our child was unenrolled due to these instances. Honestly, she saved me from having to put in a notice of removal because I was DONE. My child is now at another daycare and is thriving. She no longer repeatedly states that she does not want to go to school and they report that she is the smart, kind, and sweet girl we know her to be. On the first day of her new daycare, we received more pictures of my child's day than I had in the whole two months she was at S&S. While I was never concerned about my child's safety while here, it was clear she was being continually targeted by the owner as a "problem child." The guilt I feel over putting my child here is overwhelming. I would never recommend this place to anyone and I am still in disbelief over everything that happened in the span of two months.

When we stated that the child in question had a history of bullying others and that we trusted our child in telling us what happened to him, the owner began screaming loudly at my husband. Two working parents concerned for the safety of their child to get yelled at and dropped with no other placement shows the character of the leadership. A year later and my son can still tell the story of the bullying events/location and no detailsils have changed, including that he went to his teachers for help and they did nothing while the little boy was chasing him and hitting him.
