Discovery Schoolhouse meets all the needs of my son. He has several severe allergies (dairy, nuts, shellfish) so they work with us on ensuring he'll be safe at the school. The teachers and front office staff are all great. We have not had any issues with DSC for the 1 yr+ that we've been attending. DSC uses the tadpoles app and it's a very convenient and user friendly way to interact with his teachers directly as they're always inputting the day's activities on the app and we can write notes to the teachers and office staff. read more

This is a privately owned daycare. The curriculum is only good once the children reach 4. There is no "social" lessons for the wee ones who start biting and hitting. They just get moved up so they can be hit and bitten by older kids, or put in their bed. Bed shouldn't be a place of punishment. So if tour child is 3 or under, beware or all sorts of bad behavior and illnesses. read more

DS is clean and somewhat new, However I would never consider putting my child in this school. I worked here for about 2 months and they're very short on staff so when I would need a day off to babysit my little brothers, they decided to fire me. Owner is very sweet. Director is very rude. Need better management. Employees nicer than management and more professional. Think twice before putting your child in this school. I wish them the best but, With what's going on with the school now it may be a pretty big down fall. read more

I will take time to describe the more than horrible experience I had with this school in the three weeks we had interaction....I will advise any responsble parents who truly want their children 's future not to be distorted, not to send their children to this school....I made out time to research for daycare that had an afterschool that catered for my older childrens elementary school because I needed both services together...I made calls because I didn't have time to go round all of them....I spoke to the director and she sounded very down to earth and sincere and I decided to come for a tour....after this and promises of discounts because I had more than two children to be registered, I took the plunge...to my chagrin..I'm an African and therefore this was the first pitfall...my children obviously did not fit the recommended standard and faced all sorts of abuse from day one....my youngest son cried every morning when I was about to leave him..which is a huge red flag..but I was told it was anxiety separation and he was trying very hard to settle down....for child that has been attending school for years in Africa without anxiety separation in any form..the children are left to cry without any form of consoling on the playground....it could pass for a crying arena and the teachers were fine in the midst of it all...and the teacher I saw there sais the children were crying because they saw others going home...i know children who are happy in school are not anxious to go home...most times they are reluctant to...a child hit another on the back of the head the first day I got there and the teacher didn't even notice at first...she hardly had any control over the class and was alone most mornings...I was told the two teachers there were not coming back...I can only be happy for them...the class was always disorganised and the children were always hitting fighting each other, each time I checked on the CCTV link I was given , my son was never in any group activity...he was said to be either sleeping or some excuse... he eventually caught an infection which the teacher was totally unable to notice and inform me about but i found out one day when I took him out because he couldnt stop crying, my children were never given the food I packed for lunch on many days except when I pleaded with the director to intervene and no feedback on why this happened even though they were always cranky at the end of the day due to hunger....on the day I planned to the the last day, I was called that my son fell and bit his lips, which is typical because accidents happen and it was just to let me know...it was unbelievable and I told the teacher how upset and shocked I was...my older daughter was called ugly and other mean names in this same time and was always crying when she got home and my older son was being forced by the boys in his afterschool class to be their pun to whatever they commanded him while playing outdoors...then how do i describe the unprofessional and rude conversations I have had with the staff who are either eavesdropping when parents are talking to the director or making faces and making indecent retorts ....and this is the atmosphere where children would be taught manners ...I doubt it...I asked for my supply fee back after this ordeal since I had to remove my children for their safety and sanity...and the ower told me it wont be refunded ....and she wished me well in finding where my expectations will be met....space wont allow me tell more...I use this as a medium to tell any parent who cares to listen...pls check up in between on what your children are going through in this school after you drop them off... I am sure they wont even be happy when you even do that but it will be for your own good...you are making a terrible mistake by putting them there..no matter the price...note that the great reviews are all from over a year ago...this is the most recent state of affairs...please be advised... We have been at Discovery Schoolhouse since November of 2012. Both my girls have gone through this school and thrived! They have become such a family to us! As my youngest is starting Kinder I am sad to say goodbye! My kids loved going here and it has been an excellent way to form relationships with teachers and other families! Parents, my two children have been at Discovery Schoolhouse since the first day it opened. My girls, now 6 and 8 have been in daycare since they were 8 weeks old. We have seen with many daycares a high turnover in staff as it is not a well paid position as it requires little skill, so no matter what daycare you attend this will happen. Discovery has had a few growing pains but I have nothing but glowing reviews for Ms. Lummus in the pre-k program who is amazing!! I have also had a very good relationship with Mr. Joe the owner who is immediate about taking action for any issues that might come up at the school. The center itself is brand new, always clean, has a nice setup, internet cameras and good security and has very good programs for the kids. PLEASE DO NOT LISTEN TO KATIE W. who seems to think that her son was very innocent and that he was not worked with because he has "special needs". So to Katie W., I am not sure how you raise your child, but I do NOT feel it is appropriate for any 3rd grade boy to be telling another 3rd grade girl that "he wants to have sex with her" and he is constantly touching her inappropriately. ADHD or not, this is inappropriate behavior. My daughter was very distraught to be in the after school program and to be subjected to this on a daily basis from your son. Also I feel it is very inappropriate for him to be telling a classroom of 5-10 year olds about sex. I know the majority of the kids as well as their parents who are in the after school program and each one of these children, especially the girls, have had issues at one time or another with your son and his inappropriate behavior. Management was well over tolerant of your son for the fact that he was there for 9 months before they finally had to say enough is enough. That being said, Discovery Schoolhouse does have very qualified staff and management, many whom have been there since day one. They do have some turnover but as I said that is normal for a daycare. I would recommend Discovery Schoolhouse to any of my friends or family and I have to many of them! read more

My 2 daughters love it here at the school. Their teachers really nurture the children and my kids have learned so much. Love the school and teachers. My neighbor also likes the school. Her son went here for a year, then moved on to kindergarten in KISD. His teachers said her son is way ahead of all the kids in his class. So, it's nice to know the school prepares the children well for kindergarten! read more

I wish I could give zero stars. I had high hopes for this school and sadly that's not what happened. The first day that my kids started school, none of the teachers were aware that they were going to start. They didn't have a cubby to put their belongings, and didn't get one until 6 weeks after - disorganize to say the least. My toddler had a sweet teacher to which she got used to. After 4 months in the class, they decided to move my toddler to a new class. Big mistake. In this new class my toddler cried every single day at drop off. She just didn't want to stay there. I asked and begged to let my child stay In the old class, but they refused. I was informed that it was part of the adaptation with the new teacher and that she would be adjusted in a few weeks. Well, it never happened. She was frightened every day. She would came home complete wet (God knows for how long she had been wet) and the teacher didn't care. Came home with rashes every day and had no curriculum for toddlers. I'd look at the cameras and see them running around all day long with literally nothing to do. Her snacks and water bottle used to come full. They didn't care to offer her water all day long!! She got three infections while there. After speaking with the director and showing my concerns, she told me that she was working with the teacher to improve the toddler class. I was glad that she acknowledged, but it wasn't enough to stick around. Later, I found out that her first teacher had quit along with many others. My older child was in PreK with Ms. Swati and she is an amazing teacher. Her assistant, Ms. Z was also great, but she also quit. (High turnover rate). When the new assistant started, my daughter who loved to go school since she was little, started to cry and begged to stay home every day. One day, I noticed the teacher's assistant screaming at one boy in her class. That was a HUGE red flag to me. I started to pay more attention and noticed verbal abuse at different times, with different teachers at different classes. I brought it up to the attention of management, but nothing happened. Needless to say, I decided to remove my daughter from that school. Now, my daughter is terrified of schools and don't want to go to school anymore. I am taking her to a psychologist to figure out what truly happened as she won't talk much but said that she hates Ms. D. and that she is really rude. Funny that this lady presents herself in a nice manner always smiling at the parents, but once you leave you never know what happens when she shuts the door. Parents be aware and take your kids somewhere else! Don't bring your kids here! Kids deserve attention, respect and a loving and caring environment. They won't get that here! read more

My 4 year old and I went and looked at quite a few pre schools in our area and this one really is the best fit for us. Dawn the Director is super sweet and caring, and the owner is amazing too. They always greet you when they see you or when you're leaving. The teachers in Pre-k 2 are great! They make my son feel so at home and always greet him with open arms. Couldn't have asked for a better school for my sons first year of school :) read more

I posted an initial review regarding DS back in 5/2012 but felt it was important to provide an update given we elected to move our son to a new school this year. In all sincerity, we had nothing but glowing reviews for DS until we began noticing staff turnover later in the school year, followed by management changes, all which seemed to be changing the healthy vibe that once existed. My gut feeling is that DS is going through some growing pains right now and they just haven't been able to attract and retain quality staff in recent months, which is unfortunate because I do believe good intentions exist. On a positive note, the facility is very nice and there are still some hidden gems continuing their work at the school. read more

Agree with the majority of the reviews provided. The only pluses of this facility is that its fairly new and clean. We were only using it as a daycare through the summer as the elementary school had not yet opened. Staff was indifferent. No warm welcomes as you arrived. Did not observe any real organized activities to keep the kids engaged through the day. Staff seemed young and inexperienced. At the point our daughter had mentioned she was 'rough' handled by a staff member we reported it to the facility manager and promptly removed our kids. If its growing 'pains' the facility needs to get it together if they want to operate in that area of Cinco Ranch. read more

My son has ADHD and Conduct Disorder, which means he is very hyper-active, strong-willed, and defiant. I gave them a "heads-up" about some of the common issues we've had in the past so that they would know from the get-go that he would be a handful, but apparently that did not matter.They don't have experienced enough staff to deal with children with these kinds of special needs. Almost every day that I came to pick him up, some staff member in his room would tell me every little thing that he did "wrong". Also, on several occasions, he was sitting outside of the classroom! I honestly feel like he was singled out from the beginning as a "problem" and they never even gave him a chance. Management is heartless and rude. One of the bus drivers called my son a "psycho" one day - and he heard her say it- and was EXTREMELY rude to my husband when he addressed it with her. After 9 months with them, they called to tell me that "they were done and couldn't handle him anymore" and that that day would be his last. Bottom-line: DO NOT TAKE YOUR ELEMENTARY -AGED CHILDREN HERE IF THEY HAVE MENTAL DISORDERS!!!! read more

The school really takes good care of my 2 children. Teachers are very involved and attentive. Well balanced meals. I like that fresh fruit and non-processed foods are served regularly. Good educational program. I was really surprised to find my youngest was learning sign language and my older one was being taught Chinese. It's good to expose children to a foreign language at an early age. The school has a strong educational focus..... which is a nice change from other schools in the area. read more

Absolutely amazing. The best preschool in Katy. ALL the teachers are extremely helpful and caring. I have 2 children- one in kinder now and the other in pre-k. they have been there for about a year and I regret not having them started at Discovery earlier. My kinder child found settling into elementary school easy -all thanks to Discovery teachers. Ms Jean (curriculum coordinator) has the best knowledge about education systems around the world and inspired my son to become a confident reader. Ms Swati -her passion for teaching is incredible and her science projects stay in the minds of my boys forever. Ms Laila and Ms Zee are extremely helpful and communicate very well. Ms Doris and Ms Lisa have an exceptional skill of settling and growing my very difficult younger son to a confident pre-k boy. Ms Sue's Mandarin class is the cherry on the cake. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this school and their staff! My kids love going there which makes drop off so pleasant! The teachers are warm and patient. They do a great job communicating with the parents. My 7 year old went to Discovery from the age of 2 until he started kinder. He was very prepared for kinder and knew all his sight words for the first semester. My 4 year old has been at this school since he was 6 months old. He is already reading, and I feel like he is prepared to start kinder next year! The same teachers that taught my 7 year old are now teaching my 4 year old! My daughter (at the time had just turned 2) had been enrolled in another Mom's Day out program a few days a week last year (2012), but they are out in the summer. I needed to have her somewhere at least part of the summer, part time (like 9-2 or so, 2 days a week). Looked into DS...it was close to home, seemed clean, etc. My daughter didn't like it- I am unsure why- but she cried every single time I dropped her off and it broke my heart. She LOVES the school she attends during the regular school year so it's not like she is used to being home or with mommy all day. In my opinion the teachers did what they were supposed to do, but nothing beyond. No warm welcome in the morning. I took my daughter out after 3 weeks. I'd rather have her home then somewhere she didnt adjust to after 6 times of attending. And I agree the front desk staff leaves much to be desired. The initial tour of warmth and caring was not representative of what I experienced for the cost ($140 per week for 2 days) read more

1/24/2013 This is my second review. For some reason, my first review disappeared. My kids love the school and their teachers! They've been going there for 6 months and have learned so much. My daughter is 2 and was potty trained by her teacher in 6 weeks, knows her colors, shapes and many letters of the alphabet. Discovery Schoolhouse is an amazing school that has nurtured my son into the little boy he is today. I want to thank the entire staff for helping my son grow and learn. He truly loves this place and all of you (and his friends). Thanks for the helping me "raise" my son for the last year and half. You and your staff are truly amazing people who have a gift for nurturing and teaching children. After reading some of the reviews, I do not understand some of their opinions. The front staff has always been welcoming and inviting to me. I have sometimes stayed 10-20 additional minutes talking to them. As for the teachers who have taught my son, each one has been very personal to me and greets my child (and myself) every morning with a smile and love. Every teacher, regardless of if they teach my son or not, knows his name and interacts with him every chance they get. I absolutely love everyone here. I agree that when my son first started at Discovery Schoolhouse, there was some "growing" issues; however, since then they have blossomed into a wonderful place that feels like a home away from home for my child and my family. Unforturnately, I had to take my son out of Discovery Schoolhouse due to my family being transferred (for my husband's employment) overseas. I wish that he could have stayed there until it was time to enter the public school system and then enter the before/after schoolcare. My only hope is that his new school will have a staff that is comparable to Discovery Schoolhouse's (as we know your staff is one of a kind) and one that is as wonderful as them. As for my son, he absolutely loved it there. He was in the three day a week program (which I thought was priced comparably to everywhere else) and he literally wanted to go to school every day! Now that he is no longer attending DS, he constantly asks me when can he go back to school because he misses his friends and teachers :( read more

I have two boys who have attended DS almost since they opened. I am very pleased overall with the care my children receive. They have had a number of excellent teachers. Both of my sons far exceeded the Kinder-readiness skills they need for grade school (and my one son won't be going to Kinder for a few more months). Both of my sons learned to speak some Mandarin and my younger son is writing in Mandarin as well. It won't likely be a language that we will continue (due to lack of people to continue to study with, mostly) but this has helped me know that the boys enjoy and seem to have a knack for languages. Both of my sons are gifted but are quite different from each other. My older son struggled with some of the behavior rules when he was in Pre-K but the training and familiarity with these rules made his transition into Kinder easier than it would have otherwise been. My younger son gets easily bored doing curriculum exercises that he has already mastered. His teachers have done a great job with giving him other things to do when this happens - sometimes creating wonderful artwork! I am pleased with the way they are addressing his special needs. This younger son used to bite when he was frustrated. He was expelled from DS for a time because of it. It was frustrating for us but I don't know that DS teachers or staff could have done anything to alleviate his frustrations and this behavior - without giving him attention that goes above and beyond what could be expected for the same cost. I was happy enough with the care my other son was receiving at DS that once my younger son got past the biting phase I re-enrolled him and he has been there since. As another reviewer pointed out, my sons have had a number of different teachers (mostly due to them moving to new ages/rooms although some do to staff turn-over). DS did a good job of keeping at least one of the two teachers with the kids who were getting a new teacher, though, and that helped with the transition. I continue to be pleased with the Pre-K curriculum and general program. read more

My two boys started in Sept. 13' and we were amazed at how much they each have learned in their short time there. They each learned Spanish, Mandarin, and sign language. Discovery Schoolhouse is an amazing environment for children to grow, learn, and play. We got pregnant with our 3rd, and she is now enrolled in the school, so we personally have/had experience in the infant room, 2 yr old room, 3 yr old room, prek room, and now the discovery room for elementary age children, and they all are great. Addressing staff turnover. Unfortunately, that is part of the daycare setting. We would all love for the staff to stay there the entire time our child attends, but that's not the reality in daycares. It's not an elementary school. We have loved all of our children's teachers, and the staff in the front are so gracious. They are always willing to lend an extra helping hand when I arrive with my 3, or when I'm leaving. We have referred families there and they have enrolled their children there. It's a great school, with great staff, and side note, the facility is so clean ALL THE TIME! I have only had to take 1 sick day for my children in 10 months! :) read more

From our experience with our son, the experience of being first time parents trusting a daycare for his care was HORRIBLE with Discovery Schoolhouse. Most of the staff and the director present no genuine compassion for the babies they care for. From 6 weeks to 8 months of many Dr visits; Catching a virus, thrush, diaper rash, infected penis from not being cleaned properly, throwing up from being fed too quickly and on his last day we went to to the Dr to confirm he had staph infection from not caring for his cuts (I would pick him up bleeding and ask why, no idea why and no attempt to care for it resulting in staph). Poor communication to parents on replenishing baby items, when you ask why, the staff has a huge attitude with you. If you do choose this daycare, I highly recommend keeping every single daily sheet. They will not take any accountability unless you show proof with your daily sheets. Also, do not trust when they offer a week free for your troubles or a free week from an Ad. Make a copy or get it in writing, if not, they will not honor it. They have promised changes during the two weeks (you must place a 2 week notice, no exceptions) and in that time the attitude stayed and he contracted staph infection. Also, the flooring is not practical for learning how to crawl, our son's foot was terribly damaged. They could also use more toys/activities for young infants, he would cry a lot. Our son is so much happier at his new daycare and his foot has healed beautifully with care. Hope they make the needed changes for a better experience. read more

Well. My very first review I could not find it anymore in Yelp.com on this school. I have no idea how the previous post from another mother is all nothing but praise for this school. The review i am writing now is based on my personal experience. My son was enrolled here around Jan'12. He was less than 2 yrs old when enrolled and was only half day program. The teachers he had then in his room were awesome but from the beginning i have had issues with front office. My daughter was enrolled for after school much before i enrolled my son. At that time itself i had bad experience still I did it for my son hoping as a daycare studen ( not as an afterschool student) the care would be much better and I was WRONG... Despite so many times informing front office to wipe my son's mouth after his food never ever heed attention to that. My mom was with us then who use to walk across from our house to pick him up and I already informed the management staffs about language barrier with my mom. So clearly informed them to call me / my husband if anythign needs to be commnunicated which again was never took care of. My son had 3 incidents ( 1 bite, 2 times fell down ) and none of the time we were informed but received note only once which they told my mother to sign. Since she obviously did not understand she brought the note back home simply . At the third time I was mad and called the owner & addressed all these.. He was nice enough to listen and promised that things would improve. When these things happened I wrote my review in Yelp which the owner did not take it very well. The next day when my husband went to drop off my son he called to tell us that since we wrote the review we should discontinue sending our son. My husband said its fine but you cant stop us from writing a review. 1) Despite all the above they charge exhorbitant for no reason - Example one day i received a bill with $10 in addition towards my mom picked up my son after 5 mins than the regular time. First of all that is not true & moreover even if we run late for 5 mins one day will we be charged ? After I literally told the front office that I have no choice but to lodge a complaint against them for this fees, they withdrew the fees. Same manner they charged extra fees for my daughter's early school pick up, though she was picked up on time I have nothing against this school but this is my experience which is true to the word as it can be proven with all my email and phone communications i have had with them. Infact when I spoke to 3 other friends of mine who were in the market for daycare, they expressed the same opinion as the front office staffs were very rude and look like they did not care for the children. read more

DS was recommended to us by some friends when we moved here from Atlanta. The prices are reasonable compared to other local daycares/preschools. My 4 year old daughter has attended here for a few months. She had never been in any sort of day care before and was very scared about starting. They were very understanding when she had a melt down in the hall way on our initial tour. They were very patient with her those first few weeks. She now loves going to school. We recently went on vacation to the beach and when we got home she told me she didn't want to leave again because she missed her friends and teachers. She is learning so much! Her teacher Miss Kia speaks English, Spanish, and sign language, and they also have a mandarin teacher who comes in. I love getting to check on her during the day through their web cam. Her grandparents also love getting to watch her too. They get to spend time outside on the playground, and Wednesdays during the summer is splash day where they get to play in the little splash park. My son has social anxiety, and was having an extremely difficult time adjusting to a new school, new sister, and becoming the middle child. The director and owner told my wife and I that they would give us a 1 month trial to see if they would be a good fit. After 2 weeks of struggling with him, they had a meeting with myself and a guest I brought with me, a pastor of a local church who was assisting us in getting help for my son. During this meeting the director, and the owner, told us that they needed a 2 week break from my son. They clearly told us that he was not being kicked out, and was welcomed back in 2 weeks. During this time with we started taking him to counseling for his social anxiety, at a place they recommended, and started working intensively with him at our house. Even though I talked to the owner on Wednesday; 12-31-14, on Jan; 1-2-15, I was told he was not allowed to come back. This has not allowed us enough time to find another place to enroll him. If they had been up front about him not returning before the 2 week break was up, all of this would have been a different story. They did not give us the full month as promised. They lied to myself, and a local pastor, about my son being able to come back after a 2 week break. I do not disagree with the reasons why he could not come back. I completely understand why. What really bothers me is they did not honor the 1 month agreement to allow my son to adjust. Did not allow our child to come back after the 2 week break when they told this to myself, and a pastor. Bottomline: Discovery Schoolhouse does not honor their word, does not fulfill agreements. And does not extend grace when needing time to find a different daycare. I will not take my other children, nor recommend this place to anyone who has children. If there is more I can do to bring attention to this place and how they handle issues I will find them. read more

I have two daughters that attend Discovery Schoolhouse. My eldest daughter not only ADORES one of her teachers, but loves going to day care, "school", every morning. Discovery Schoolhouse did an excellent job working with us to potty train my eldest. They are now beginning the same type of routine for my youngest. My girls learn so much from being in an educational environment every day. I would agree that I have also noticed the recent growing pains they are going through, and (as a parent) I would prefer a higher teacher to student ratio, but I also trust the owner and management to work through this in due time. read more

I pulled my two sons out after noticing a fellow student with ADHD being yelled at and being mistreated. I was sad to leave my youngest son's teacher she was the most amazing teacher you could want for your children, patient, kind, loving, and beyond helpful. I do not have such kind regards to the management there or the Pre K and school age kids teachers, they were hurtful and discouraging. The owner has a lack of attention for his business, from what I would hear from employees speaking with each other in certain circumstances, "Joe needs to pay for his new house". That doesn't make me feel comfortable in the least bit, I felt like just another contribution to his up scale lifestyle rather than a valued friend and parent. I deepest sympathies for the children who were exposed to these conditions, or who were mistreated for any disorders they have. read more

We initially had a good experience with the school when the old owner was there. They sold it and then everything went downward. The person sitting at front desk ( if there was one!?) did not know the school rules, the teacher told us something different, and the owner/director would say something else! simple things like bringing home food for kids as supplement during snack time....( this was for young toddler class) we had different answers. Our son was not feeling well due to ear infection and did not eat at home, so we gave his breakfast from home so that he can eat before taking the meds. Ms Brook did not feed him for like 45 min. I was watching the cam and was waiting in case she feeds after her task at hand is done. But wow.. the kid went for almost an hour without eating even though WE had provided the food. In fact she had given some other kid milk and something and our boy was just standing there looking longingly at the other girl/ So I called and that's when she BANGED him on the chair and gave him food. So rude and not considerate! The list of undamaged things became so long withing only 2 months that we decided to switch and were lucky to FINALLY get a spot i Primrose. For the past 5 years both of my children have been going to Discovery Schoolhouse. My daughter was 3 when she started there and was scared of the new experience since she had previously been at an in-home daycare setting. Her teacher was absolutely amazing and so patient with her. It wasn't long before she was totally acclimated and thriving! My son was a newborn when he started there and has grown up through their system. He loves his teachers and school, is happy, healthy, has lots of friends, and is learning so much. What more can I ask for? Oh, and they potty trained him! That was one thing I was not looking forward to based on friends with boys saying they are more difficult to train. He is getting ready to start kindergarten and I feel will be well prepared when he gets there. Every teacher my kids have had there have been wonderful and so have the ladies that work in the front, always so loving. As I look through the reviews I notice that many of the negative ones were from years ago. There has been some turn over in teachers, but it's not any different than other daycares and schools. Teachers move and have major life changes, that happens everywhere. DS will often do fundraisers to benefit our community and the people in it. They truly are caring people that work there. We love DS! We have been here since 2013 and we too had a tough time with the previous owners (as some of the previous reviews stated). The teacher turnover was high and the director was a pain to deal with, but overall, my kids were happy and cared for, so we stayed. Eventually, we got fed up and decided to change our kids to a different school, but were waitlisted at the school we wanted to move to (we have multiple kids, and not all rooms had openings). Being waitlisted ended up being a blessing in disguise! Before our spot opened up, DS changed ownership and got a new director and it has been wonderful since!! The staff is wonderful and very caring, our kids love it, there are cameras in the room if you want to watch your kids playing/interacting, they teach Spanish/mandarin/sign language, they follow a modified abeka curriculum, they use the Tadpoles app so it's very convenient to get daily reports and updates, etc. I would definitely recommend this to someone looking for childcare. I would not recommend this daycare. The administrative staff is highly unprofessional and the caregivers in the classroom are careless. My 9 month old son was there for 1 month and I pulled him after a number of things occured. His chart was not being kept up with, his food was still in his bag when I picked him up and the teachers could not give me an explanation as to what he ate and why he wasn't eating what I was providing. He came home with red rashes on his face and I was told that he "rubbed his face on the carpet". My home is 70% carpet and never once has he done that at home. There was an incident report filed when he fell and hit the corner of the bookcase causing a bruise below his eye. I was not called about it when it occured and when I picked him up (still unaware of what happened) I had to ask about his eye. The information should have bee provided over the phone when it happened if not when I walk through the door to pick him up. The final straw is when I walked into the room to pick him up and he is screaming under the rocking chair while both teachers (one above him in the rocking chair and the other changing a diaper) are paying no mind to him. I understand that my child will not be held 24/7 but when he screams like that, something is wrong. I asked what was wrong before I approached him and the teachers rocking said "oh he just wants to be held." I walk over to pick him up and SHE IS ROCKING ON HIS FINGERS! I removed him. Absolutely unacceptable. The administration will give excuses as to why things occur in the classrooms that you as a parent are not okay with. Your parental concerns are not taken into account.
