Unfortunately, my partner suffered heat exhaustion during a previous port stop, and we were advised to stay out of the heat for the remainder of our cruise. Because of that, we had to cancel our excursion at the last minute. I fully understand that businesses have cancellation policies, and I wasn't expecting anything guaranteed. I simply reached out to see if an exception could be made given the medical circumstances. While I received a prompt response, I was disappointed by the tone of the email. Rather than simply explaining that a refund wasn't possible, I was told my request was "improperly received" because I had replied to an automated email, even though I was only trying to include my invoice information. The interaction felt unnecessarily impersonal during what was already a stressful situation. I respect a company's right to enforce its policies, but exceptional customer service is often shown in how unusual situations are handled. Even if a refund wasn't possible, a more empathetic response or perhaps offering a future credit would have left a much better impression. I can't comment on the actual excursion since we were unable to attend, but I hope Discover Roatan considers showing a little more flexibility and compassion when guests experience legitimate medical issues while traveling.

Arshley is the most knowledgeable guide I've encountered amongst my numerous African safari experiences. His broad knowledge of the Ugandan wildlife with an unmatchable expertise of birds and trees enhanced our experience and appreciation for the beauty Uganda has to offer. His vast awareness of wildlife along with his dynamic personality kept us entertained and engaged while traveling between national parks and forests. Arshley has an exceptionally trained eye and was able to spot a leopard in a tree that most would need binoculars to see. He continually exposed us to many new species beyond what I expected to encounter. While getting to know Arshley, I learned of his many accolades in guiding, birding, and forestry. He is the reason our experience was both educational and enjoyable. Arshley is so easy to talk to that by day two he was not just our guide, but also a close friend. He is fun and happy and this made our experience extra special. He was continuously concerned about our comfort level and general well-being as was Sharon, our program planner from Kabira, who would often check-in to ensure we were having the best possible trip. When deciding on our specific itinerary, Sharon always responded promptly and supportively. I had many questions and concerns as one does when planning an expensive overseas excursion. Sharon helped put me at ease by thoroughly walking me through each step of the process. She even took a midnight phone call from me when I needed last minute assistance with the payment process. It was such a wonderful surprise when she took the time to meet us on our final evening and presented us with a thank you gift. Our favorite day was the Gorilla Habituation Experience where we spent four hours with a magnificent mountain gorilla family. Although the cost of the permit was quite pricey, it was well worth it to encounter these creatures so up close and personal. I have fallen in love with the country, its peoples, and all the land has to offer. When I come back, there's no question that I will be using Kabira again.

This is a vintage rail car (or 3 in our case) that has been lovingly restored to transport you back in time to when service meant people smiled at you and were happy to be of assistance and chat with you! The staff was lovely and Conductor Bill made his rounds to ensure all of his guests were having a good time. Our party of 6 was in the Acoma car. This group did not switch cars going up and back due to having larger parties. This perk allowed us to get to know our fellow travelers and really enjoy their company...'old friends meeting for the first time'. I know this won't be for everyone. I enjoy meeting people and could probably figure out a way to have fun with a box of rocks...that said, do yourself a favor, slow life down a bit for an afternoon and really experience the beauty around you - And drink some wine! Full breakfast with Mimosas was served on the way up. A delicious dinner was served with wine on the way home. My sister boarded at Union Station with a majority of the passengers, the rest of our group got on in Chatsworth - super convenient. We spent the day exploring Santa Barbara on foot. So wear your walking shoes. We shopped, we tasted, we sipped, we laughed at getting lost and we had an amazing day bonding with friends. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT - Great for groups of couples too!

Plus, it goes by Vino Train even though the website is LA Rail. 12 of us made the trip from LA Union Station to Santa Barbara. You are greeted by conductor Bill to enter this amazingly restored train. We rode on the Silver Splendor which has dome seating for great views on the road. Ticket includes breakfast (mimosas!, waffles, frittata, bagels and fresh fruit) and dinner, wine and desert on the return. The food was delicious and the service top quality. You depart early at 7:45 am (there are a few stops along the way, but you don't even notice) arrive in Santa Barbara around 10:30 am and have until 4:30 to take part in a guided wine tasting tour or go at your own leisure. We went on our own. Tastings are not included. It would be nice to have discounts offered, but it's also nice to have the flexibility of choosing where to go. Everyone really enjoyed the trip and would definitely recommend for any special occasion or for a nice day trip. Debbie is the main contact and she's great in keeping in touch and worked well with the changes I had and special requests (e.g. Sparking cider for my pregnant friend). Can't say enough about this. The train was full so they definitely have their business, but wanted to get it going on Yelp too to spread the word.

Did that mean we'd stay at a bucket list hotel of mine? Emails were sent and Jennifer confirmed. Yes, staying at the Sanctuary Lodge was a highlight of this trip. WooHoo! So, arrangements were made, permissions asked, the passport placed on expedited renewal and the deposit placed. Subsequent payments in installments were very helpful. The itinerary is very well planned. The yoga instructor changed and ended up being Kilty who also led my buddy in Bhutan. She is very lovely inside and out and was a joy to practice with. Their partner in Peru took care of everything and more. Phenomenal hotels, fantastic food, and loads of peeks into the Peruvian culture. And you can't ask for a better guide than Miguel Pacsi. Good guides "will know when to slow down or quicken the pace as they are actively reading the client's demeanor," and Miguel did just that. He's hyper-aware of the group, observed us on a hike early in the trip and was able to make our one day hike on the Inca Trail doable within our limits. And you can tell Miguel loves his country as he happily shared his knowledge of the local culture, history, and geography.  Thanks to this trip, I've checked off two items on my bucket list and have fabulous memories that will last.

Everyone kept me informed and safe at all times during my travels to, from, and within Panama. The places visited and the experiences offered during this trip felt customized to my group's interests. The Travel Yogi is in a class by itself when it comes to customer service--unbelievable in the best possible way! Furthermore, the yoga instructors are highly knowledgeable, welcoming, and friendly to all. Among the members of my Panama group, the amount of yoga experience greatly varied. No matter--both yoga instructors made all of us feel comfortable; inspired and encouraged everyone; and adjusted their morning and evening yoga classes according to everyone's energy levels each day. These days, it's rare to get what you pay for. The only reason I drop a star is the general seating is a little uncomfortable and you're very close to the person sitting next to you!
