Spent 2 nights on the Queen Mary August 14 & 15th with my wife. The ships has great history and you are allowed to explore the entire ship. The employees were every friendly and their attention your detail is great. The hotel is great for being a 93 year ship. Only thing I can say that was never was the bed in the room. Mattress was horrible. They really need to replace or change out the mattress. Other than this, the stay was excellent. They did have a concert the weekend of my stay so they had to accommodate parking. But they did this very well. read more

TLDR: Would not recommend the hotel whatsoever, but would recommend the Royal Brunch. My husband and I elected to stay here even though we live only an hour away to make our lives easier attending the Three Pianos concert. We had heard concert parking was horrible and decided to make it easier. We booked the room over a month in advance and there was no warning given about on-site Queen Mary parking. A day or two before our trip, we received an email saying that there would be no on-site parking for hotel guests and we'd have to be shuttled to and fro an off-site location a little over a mile away. This was pretty irritating since the entire point of booking this and spending money on a hotel room was to make parking easier. We wrote back and expressed our discontent only to be met with a "sorry but it is what it is"...just more professionally worded. We got there to park and were able to get on a shuttle. Check in was fairly smooth although we were informed we could not control the AC and so if we needed a fan to call.As soon as we got there I called for a fan because it was 90 degrees and I knew I'd need one--the fan came quickly, but I don't like that you have zero AC control...that is a hotel room perk. The room itself was larger than you'd expect from a boat, and it didn't feel dirty, but it is is desperate need of upgrades. The walls were scuffed, the tile grout brown, toilets and sinks very outdated, etc. The bed itself was very firm, but sleepable and the pillows were fine. However, the walls, or maybe the door area was paper thin and we were woken up the next morning several times starting at 6:45AM with other guests who were so loud that it felt like they were in the bed next to us...and not in a sexy way. About 90 mins before the concert, we went to the Observation Bar for drinks and food. We were seated with the manager saying their "world class service would be with us shortly"...The service was horrendous and he and I are certainly not living in the same world if what we got is world class. She took forever and never checked on us. The drink options were limited, but when we finally got them, they were OK. I also ordered the baked brie that came out cold and the sliders were only OK. We never got to have another round of drinks because it took over an hour to get the first round of drinks and 2 food items. We finally had to get up and ask for the check so as not to be late to the concert and when they asked how everything was and we told them the truth, the manager essentially just looked at us and walked away. Super helpful! I saw many other servers scurrying around and looking helpful, so I think our waitress was just terrible...and living in her own little world...probably the same one the manager is living in. Later after we had left to the concert, my husband left the concert line to run back to the hotel and put stuff in the room that we bought and his key didn't work. So we had to wait for them to fix that which made him late getting back and we missed part of the early entry we had paid extra for. We called for a late checkout the next morning because we had the Royal Brunch booked for 11am (which is check out time) and we had all of our stuff, plus our concert stuff that we had planned on running out to the car, but couldn't do because they wouldn't let us park there. We were told they had no late checkouts left and to check it with the bell service. We went down at about 10:45 to drop off our stuff with the bell service and the line was ridiculously long and not moving whatsoever. There is no way we weren't going to miss our reservation if we waited in it, so we went to the brunch with all of our bags and asked if they could give us a table where we could lay out our posters, etc. A manager of some kind, Andy, overheard this and offered to lock up our items in a closet right there--he was truly one of the only helpful people in the Queen Mary. The brunch itself was delightful. The food and service were excellent and while I would never stay over at the Queen Mary again, I would certainly attend the brunch again if we could park onsite. Finally we went out to the front to get back on the shuttle in the blazing sun and the line was in the direct sunlight and there was no shuttle in site. I asked people who had been there how long they had been waiting and they said over 20 minutes. I'm sorry, that's unacceptable. You didn't give appropriate notice that we couldn't park onsite, the line is in the sun, and now people have to wait over 20 minutes in 90 degree heat to get back to our cars? I asked the person working the little podium where the shuttle was and he said they were coming every 15 minutes. I told him that was clearly untrue and he radioed them and one showed up about 6 minutes later. I would never stay here again. Too many things went wrong to waste the money. We called ahead to let them know we would be checking in a bit later to have dinner with family in the area. Why is that important? This gave them the opportunity to let us know there was a concert in the parking lot area and you would have to park a mile away and shuttle to the hotel/ship. Of course, there are no signs to indicate the alternative parking area, just an address that takes you to another hotel. Finally for the parking area and then had to wait for the shuttle. No baggage carrying options, carts, etc., other than your own appendages. When we explained our displeasure about the parking to the fount desk, Emma decided to make it our fault. If we had not booked through a 3rd party, Expedia, we would have been informed of the issue. See the first sentence above. We also had tickets to the tour, but, since they were having a concert, they were not doing the tours.... But, they would resume tomorrow at 1000 (10 AM for this that don't know military time). We are flying. Back home tomorrow and are meeting more family for brunch in the morning. So, we have vouchers for the tour that we may or may not use now. After eventually finding our room, which are not well marked, we decided to explore. We walked around the outside of the Promenade deck and enjoyed the views. We decided to stop at the bar for a libation. After being ignored at the bar after 5 minutes, even though there were two bar tenders working right in front of us, we left. We then went to the cafe to give it one more shot. The staff there were friendly, responsive and great! The ones we've encountered so far on this ship. So, don't go here if you want to park nearby as the concert venue appears to be a permanent fixture in the parking lot and you will be charged to valet your car and park a mile away. You may or not get service at any of the places on the ship. You may or may not be treated like you actually paid to visit instead of an inconvenience. You may or may not encounter an employee who recognizes they screwed up and should do something about it. If this is normal for the staff, then the management sucks and should be replaced. If it is unusual for this to happen, then the staff need to be trained better and the management should still be replaced for putting them in this position. In short, spend your money elsewhere, somewhere they will appreciate you as a customer. read more

Embarked my journey on the Queen Mary a couple of years ago and think it's a must to visit. They do tours, have a museum, bar with food, a hotel and it's even an event venue. I've explored the ship with some of their staff and really enjoyed learning about the ship, I called it a boat and they got annoyed haha. The observation bar gives that classy and vintage look. Feels like you are time traveling back to the early 1900's. I like how they even host themes or events for the observation bar. They do activations for Halloween on the ship and host movies. They are always hosting something fun and exciting for the community. My favorite part is that they are a venue with Insomniac and host cool raves on the ship and also on the side of it in the parking lot. I've been to Daytrip about 5 times in a row and it's been beautiful to rave and see the Queen Mary during sunset. It's very organized and they even created and small amphitheater nearby. I recommend visiting but not sure how I would feel staying at their hotel. read more

Let's talk about the things I had experience. Service: staff was ok not bad... I think they were kind of off almost like they knew place was haunted but didn't want to say. I loved the shuttle to and from Pike's Parking Garage. The shuttle stops right in front of both locations. Please purchase your tickets ahead of time... I bought the Haunted Tour. It was suppose to be an hour out but in reality it was more like 45 minutes. We started 5 minutes late waiting for some late arrivals and we finished about 10 minutes early in front of Jackie's. The tour was OK... visited only one part of the ship that is not available to the general public. Tour did well in telling the history of the ship. Sorry did not experience anything really strange except when we were at the 1st Class pool we heard some knocking coming from the bow of the ship. We were lucky enough to stay in the famously haunted Room B340! First the pros: 1) The room was nice and well maintained, I especially enjoyed the spooky decorations and antique furniture. The bed was comfortable (I slept like a big snoring baby) and the restroom was clean and appeared newly renovated. My favorite part was reading the guests entries in the journals. 2) We ate at the Chelsea and the food was absolutely delicious! 3) We went on the Paranormal Ship Walk tour and it was so good that afterwards we all gave the tour guide a round of applause, it was sweet because she looked like she wasn't expecting it. Now for the cons: The only real cons I could think of were the groups of gawkers who kept appearing every couple minutes looking for ghosts and daring each other to knock on the door. Some of them even brought loud ghost hunting equipment and tried entering the room several times while we tried to sleep. But all of this could easily be avoided if we just get a regular room next time. The next few items are just suggestions I think would make for a better stay aboard the Queen Mary: 1) A mini fridge should be available in every room, free of charge and 2) The overnight parking should also be free! read more

They do try to keep it up and they're doing a well job. Went back to an event here and a friend's also staying here so got to revisit the ship and the old & new good memories. Firstly, I have noticed people moaning about the age of everything on the ship. She is a 90 year old ship, which makes her an historic vessel. They are not even allowed to make any changes to the interior because in the walls is asbestos. Replacing anything that breaks is a very costly process too. If you can not appreciate the history and the effort they go to to male your stay comfortable, don't bother going. My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights in the Windsor suite. As we walked inside we were in awe of the space and could smell the history! It was just fabulous! We called the desk and asked for a bottle of champagne to be brought to the room, and they did with no problem. The coolers that cool the room did make the room cold, but I just turned them to 'shut' and the air was less cold. In fact we had a very comfortable stay after that. They did have extra blankets in the closets too. The breakfast and coffee were absolutely delicious. We even ate at the restaurant and the food and service was perfect. Prices were also very reasonable! The observation bar was a fun place to go for the nightlife and the sunset views were beautiful. We did the Glory Days tour as well as explored on our own around the ship. She is huge and it was so cool to be able to see all of the art deco and the history. The Queen Mary is a legend and a war hero. Since being in Long Beach, many horrible companies who leased her, neglected her amd that is why she was looking tired in many places, but Long Beach took her back and have started renovations. I was very pleasantly surprised to see what great shape she is in again. Fresh paint, freshly varnished hand rails, new flooring, replaced lightbulbs and more. The keel and lower hull if the ship is also in great condition, and it is actually good to keep all of the marine growth on her as she doesn't move and it helps protect the paint and metal. The only thing I will never take part in is the ghost stuff because it is all made up crap. Disney literally created the "haunted cabin." Look it up. This ship stole my heart, I will be back and for longer next time. I loved going back in time and soaking all of her up. read more

There is no air conditioning! I was extremely miserable our first night and we had a beautiful family suite that was actually spacious. Dinner on board, tours, history down every aisle and hallway! But that heat... They sent me a text message the second day asking me how my day was going, and I told them how miserable I was and how I hadn't been able to sleep the night before because of the heat. So they asked if I wanted a fan in my room and I texted oh yes please and the housekeeping ran a fan tower into my room. I really think it's going to make all the difference tonight. Honest opinion. The twin beds room was old, dark, and dusty. It turned out to be a bit below average hotel. If you like old fashioned vintage style hotels, The Queen Mary hotel may be worth checking out. Thin walls and dim lights. For a discounted price around $143-$144 a night, you can hear everyone talking next door/down the hall or snoring at night. Yes, you will get interrupted as a light sleeper during your sleep time. Expect ship horns blowing around 10am/3pm/6pm. Carnival cruise ships are nearby as well. Water dripping sounds outside the windows and sometimes the bathroom toilet. Other than that, the stay included clean sheets/puffy pillows, lots of drawers for storage items, good closet space with mirrors behind the closet doors, etc. Employees and front desk staffs are helpful, but it's a different type feeling/not your most polished service. Room gets cold at times. $39 per night guest parking in the lot was a bit pricey. Foods at restaurants aren't cheap, but there's a good selection to choose from. As a hotel guest, you can wander around as desired. There's an old gym with checkered floorings onboard too. For Queen Mary experiences, it's actually much better and the tour guides are well trained. There's plenty to see and you can check out local onsite events. Tea time is available on Sundays. Exciting and adventurous if it's your first visit. Engine room, museum, explore the shops, various decks, bar/restaurants. We've been here 3 times, but this was our very first hotel stay. The Queen Mary is historic and a well known landmark in Long Beach, California. It's a great place to take photos and create memories. Note, there are plenty of stairways, hallways, etc., enough to give you a good walking experience to get to all the unique places. It's a decent place to check out, but for overnight stays, I would be a bit hesitant about revisiting. read more

Beautiful ship with so much rich history. I love visiting historical places, and I always appreciate it when they're not just treated as museums but are still functional. We went for Sunday brunch and also joined the steam engine tour. I didn't realize that once you're done with brunch, you can roam around the ship freely--I thought you needed separate tickets, so I also booked the tour. We did enjoy it though; it was very informative. The theater was really nice too. I can imagine what it must have been like back in the day when people actually sailed on the Queen Mary minus the ship rocking back and forth up to 45 degrees, haha. I was really surprised that it's dog-friendly, both as a hotel and a museum, even in the buffet area. I would have thought they'd worry about accidents that could damage the ship or be difficult to clean. I don't believe in ghosts, but it's fun that they offer a ghost tour if you're into that kind of thing. I also enjoyed the spooky store downstairs, and you can see the most haunted room through a window. I wish we could have seen the pool. Well technically you can view it through a window, but since I'm short, it was hard to get a good look. Overall, the Queen Mary was a fun experience. The Queen Mary not only serves as a cool piece of history located right here in Long Beach, but also a real cool location for some of Southern California's best music festivals. I like that the ship is being used in such a cool way, for the festivals (Day Trip, Dreamstate, and Apocalypse) you can even get a hotel room on the ship. The whole ship is booked out only to festival attendees. I know you can also book rooms throughout the year and the ship also offers different tours, including a haunted ghost tour since the ship is supposedly haunted!!! History Nerds will love it! Yuppies and Trust Fund Kids will hate it... I got some sort of deal for $235 for a weekday night, and a $50 breakfast credit...not too bad! PROS: -An almost authentic historic experience stay aboard a somewhat "Titantic" cruise ship. -Well restored sections of the ship throughout -Observation Bar and the Semi Secret Speakeasy with live music were both fun. -Historic First Class Cabins are actually quite roomy and comfy. Loved the ambience and time travel! -We were here for a Swing Dancing/Lindy Hop event...so fun! -Excellent Breakfast Buffet we used the $50 credit for. -Friendly staff all around. CONS: -It's an almost 100 year old boat! It's going have some quirks, creaks, aches, noises...all of which are expected, even on a modern cruise ship. Fun Fact: RMS Queen Mary was significantly bigger than the RMS Titanic in terms of length, beam, and gross tonnage. The Queen Mary was over 130 feet longer and its gross tonnage was nearly double that of the Titanic. That said, this is probably the closest thing to a Titanic Experience. read more

While we were on vacation in Long Beach, we checked out The Queen Mary before heading off on a 5-day cruise. The one-hour tour was totally worth it. The Queen Mary's Haunted Encounters Tour is an educational adventure that isn't too spooky. The guided tour person provided some eerie stories and history of the ship. The tour also highlights some of the most interesting ghost stories and experiences. After the tour, we relaxed with some drinks at the lovely Observation Bar. The staff was friendly and paid attention to us, and, the cocktails tasted amazing! While we were hanging out, we took in the awesome Art Deco style and the amazing views of the harbor and Long Beach. read more

We came here on a Sunday afternoon just to have a drink on the ship. We were taken a back that we had to pay $45 each to even board but we had no idea the experience that awaited us. We are so glad we did this because we did not know the extensive history of the ship. We were absolutely blown away by everything we learned and saw that day. The highlights for us was the propeller room, engine room, the historic bar, promenade, and the bridge. There's also a World War II exhibit. We had no idea that Winston Churchill used the ship during the war. Plan at least three hours or more to see everything. Unfortunately, we came right after a big music festival so not everything was open. They do have a Royal Sunday brunch. We for sure will be back to experience that. read more

The Queen Mary, a talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, show stopping historic part of Los Angeles County history in the city of Long Beach. It's a multi-level massive 18 level deck ship meet museum meet hotel, meet plethora of eateries, activities and sites. At 1,019 feet long, the RMS QM might be the adventure you never knew you needed. I haven't been here since I can't even remember when, a solid 10+ years, but definitely been aboard a few times, though it felt like a brand new experience exploring the ship, even getting mixed in briefly with a tour group or two between lunch at the Promenade Cafe, running into a group a guys we knew leaving brunch. They do their best to upkeep and maintain, while preserving the structure, but it's definitely a long haul slow and steady journey. Parking can be validated at many of the places including the buffet and some places do require a deposit/pre-pay to enjoy. Areas that are prohibited and/or non-passenger friendly are labeled and/or sectioned off for public access. Noticeable wear and tear or damage to steps and certain areas on the upper open air decks are chained for safety. You can see so many viewpoints from all over the ship. Lots of amazing rooms throughout including the game room, book store and chambers of former crew members of the past. It's pretty amazing to see where people lived way back when. One of the showers with four or five different levers and knobs really had me pondering what that was like. Is one for soaping? Lol #VintageVibin Grateful for the free Wi-Fi throughout the ship, public restrooms, validation for parking and attentiveness of most of the staff. Currently you can experience the the Queen Mary's Dark Harbor VIP Package for an overnight stay as well as enjoy their haunting seasonal experience which is always a spooky treat. We didn't have any cocktails or beverages of the abv variety, but did enjoy some alcohol free libations, a meal and of course our visit to the QM. If staying in the hotel they have reasonable rates, winter seems to be the best deal, especially December. Might consider a 40th birthday celebration here for sure... Though I know the amenities are sparse. Sunday Funday brunch is from 10:00AM - 2:00PM in the Salon on the R-Deck and they have a lot of variety. It's a but pricey, but does include a complimentary glass of sparkling as well as parking. Observation Bar, was/is one of my favorite places to explore, but so is most of the Promenade deck. Serving up awesome events, attractions, photo ops, history/herstory, dining experience and delicious beverages as a permanent retired Royal Mail Ship since the late 60s (1967). read more

Like others have mentioned - I understand the nostalgic, historical draw to this attraction. However, I would not recommend staying overnight at the hotel. The rooms are extremely dated (fine, preserved aesthetic, I get it), but they lack basic care and maintenance. The walls are dirty, the carpet feels grimy, and the fixtures are in need of serious cleaning or upgrading. I would not stay here again. It is the equivalent of a sub-part budget hotel. read more

A ship, museum, and a hotel all in one and then some? I'm honestly not sure I can start off any other review like that! Super belated review, but my visit was in late June thanks to a volunteer opportunity that was held there. Two of the perks were free admission, normally ~$45 I was told, and free parking, which would have been ~$27 for the whole day. I shudder to think how much it would cost to spend even one night there, especially if I had dined at one of the eateries there. Actually, I did get some lunch at Midship Marketplace, one of the eateries on the ship, between my volunteer shifts; however, that cafe was nothing more than a tourist trap. ~$20 for a turkey sandwich and a small iced coffee?! Luckily, that was the only money I spent that day on the Queen Mary, and it's certainly not often when someone can say they spent less than an Andrew Jackson in one day on the Queen Mary. I could have purchased some gifts at one of the various shops they have inside the Queen Mary, but I was more focused on snapping photos, knowing this was my one opportunity to visit the ship at no cost. There are a multitude of entry points into the ship with a gangway leading into each deck. It's real easy to get lost, and even if you had the full day blocked off for exploring the ship, you may not be able to see everything they have! At least, until your phone battery dies. I tried to stay as long as I could, but once dinner hours started (5 PM each day of the week), my phone battery was at 20% after snapping several hundred photos. Besides Midship Marketplace, the other eateries on the Queen Mary are the Observation Bar, Chelsea Chowder House & Bar, Promenade Cafe, and a Royal Sunday Brunch, which wouldn't have worked for me since I went on a Friday. I was looking around for lunch options that day, and the only options besides the tourist trap of a Starbucks cafe was the Observation Bar and the Promenade Cafe. It's worth noting that had I gone on any other weekday, the Observation Bar wouldn't have even been a lunch option, but even so, their only eats are small bites. Since I had an afternoon shift to get to, I wasn't sure how fast service would be at the Promenade Cafe, so I had no other choice, unfortunately. Restrooms are a plenty inside the ship, but watch your step! For some restrooms, you actually have to step up into the room, so you can't just roll right through the door; otherwise, you will fall flat on your face. There are four gift shops inside the Queen Mary: Portside Marketplace, Piccadilly Delights, J.T. Jones Bookstore, and STACKS Aboard the Queen Mary. The first three are located quite close to one another in the Main Hall on the Promenade Deck. The STACKS store is in the A-Deck, aloof from the first three. The Queen's Landing is another option for a gift shop, but that's outside of the Queen Mary. I didn't go inside that one, but I'm sure they have a nice selection of Queen Mary merch available for purchase. Throughout the ship, you will see tour guides giving tours to groups of attendees. I didn't go on any of the tours since it would have cost quite a bit, even with a discounted rate for a volunteer, and I would have wanted to explore on my own terms anyways. There are several options for tours on the Queen Mary, and they are no less than an hour long. Remember how I said it was easy to get lost? I was hoping to explore the Cunard Story exhibit, which I found shortly before my afternoon volunteer shift. However, it took me almost an hour to find it again! I remembered it being on an upper deck, but since the upper deck had a multitude of levels, each of which can only be accessed via a certain stairwell, I couldn't remember how I found it the first time! And the directions got a little confusing too even though they do have ample signage directing patrons to certain parts of the ship. The Cunard Story exhibit is one exhibit you must see during your stay on this ship! And the other exhibits are definitely worth visiting as well! It's hard to name a favorite exhibit because they're all good in their own ways! Even on the Promenade Deck, there are a bunch of artifacts on display, including a historical piano, which can't be played, unfortunately, but understandably. Throughout the ship, there will be photos and even exhibits of rooms that were in use while the ship was in operation, so you'll know what first class was like back then. Although it's all the way on the far end of the ship, the Engine Room is quite a maze in and of itself that you can't help but wonder how they figured out how all that machinery worked together to make the ship run. At least at the time of my visit, the room can only be accessed via multiple stairwells. That was one of the last exhibits I visited before my phone battery got too low, and my legs/feet were getting pretty tired too, especially while navigating the labyrinth of Queen Mary's engine. Brunch on a Wednesday in the Promenade restaurant. 1. Food: superb / top notch 2. Ambience: very good 3. Cleanliness: excellent 4. Service: pretty slow (fortunately, we were in no rush) 5. Staff: most seem noticeably disgruntled / unmotivated / unhappy 6. Ship walkabout: wonderful / a fascinating time capsule 7. Fantastic artwork / historical photographs on display throughout. 8. Huge ballroom / event rooms / very quaint wedding chapel. 9. Period costumes, decor, memorabilia. 10. Step back in time on a 100-year old grand luxury ocean liner. Tips: 1. Make an advance reservation for restaurants - we saw walk-ins wait almost an hour. 2. Allow at least 2 hours (minimum) to explore the ship after your meal. 3. Lots of stairs between decks / huge ship / lots of walking. 4. Make sure your phone is fully charged - hundreds of photo opps. Summary: We came on a fairly quiet weekday, but still restaurant reservations are highly recommended. The food was top-notch. Will return to eat - a real treat. Dropped a star only because many of the staff seemed somewhat unfriendly, unmotivated, disgruntled. Otherwise, the ship is stunningly beautiful and the experience quite profound. read more

I was here for a work event, but I would like to go back to explore the ship. We were in the main dining room for a dinner. Dinner was fine, but it was nothing to write home about. I loved the jazz trio that entertained us during dinner. After dinner, it turned to a DJ who didn't take requests and had his own playlist in mind. Exploring the ship, that was a lot of fun. I would like to go back during the day time just to see things and read through the historical information. It's kind of hard when you're in a work group and everyone is all over the place chasing ghosts. I would like to visit the jazz bar on the ship - it looked simply amazing and felt like being transported to a different era. Haunted? Probably. I did feel a heaviness in my stomach when I went to the restroom. Fortunately, it went away when we left our event. If anything, I hope it enjoyed my dancing. read more

The Queen Mary is such a cool spot in Long Beach with a lot of history and character. The views are beautiful, the setting feels really unique. I also liked seeing the Titanic model inside and photos of the famous passengers like Audrey Hepburn. Parts of it can feel a little worn but it's part of the ambiance, overall it's a great place to walk around and experience something different. I highly recommend going at sunset time. read more

My review is long overdue. My colleagues and I came here last year for a farewell get-together for one of our coworkers and we all enjoyed it very much. We all signed up online for the bar to have the free entry to the Queen Mary, so you can basically see all the general areas of the ship but to really get to learn about the ship you need to book tours. However, it was enough for all of us as we wandered around the ship and enjoyed ourselves very much. They also have a nice giftshop which I really want to go back to check out. Next time I would come earlier in order to see more of what the ship had to offer. read more

I understand that the nostalgia of it is a draw. The food & cocktails in the Observation Deck bar are good. And, the views from the deck are beautiful. But I would not recommend that anyone ever stay here overnight. It is pricey and the equivalent of a 2 star motel. We stay in a family suite once a year to attend a music festival because the proximity of the venue and the convenience trumps comfort. But it is not a "nice" stay. The rooms are so dated and nothing works! The wifi is spotty, the rooms are ice boxes and the linens are thin and flimsy, and the bathrooms are barely useable. During this last stay, there was no hot water so we couldn't shower before heading home. I called the front desk and spoke to a woman who said I was the second caller with this issue and would send "engineering" to check it out. No one ever came and an hour later when I called back, the front desk had stopped answering the phone. I tried three times. When you ckeck in, you are told not to touch the temperature and to call the desk. Obviously, they're aware that there's an issue with the rooms being cold so why not address it or at the very least provide extra blankets. My teeth were literally chattering on the first night and I put on thick sweats and a hoodie to sleep in! Stay at a neighboring hotel of which there are many, including a Marriott which is very nice. Come here for lunch & a tour but do not spend the night. Be forewarned! read more

Weekend vibes , visited and stayed overnight , when you finally make it thru the many stops why we were visiting, vendor event , got hear snoop in the same parking lot .. cozy very comfortable bed. You're so much about everything being spooky. But once you're there you get to admire the beauty. Very what you see. On TV Titanic. Like a joy. Amazing. Espresso, martini up on the deck. I was underwhelmed by the $20.00 general tour. Before going I'll admit as a Californian I didn't really have much knowledge about the Queen Mary other than it's location. I learned during the tour that Queen Mary was purchased by the City of Long Beach in 1967 from England and has stayed put ever since. I felt the tour, however, led us to believe that the boat was pretty much in tact and restored over the years. But as I kept asking the tour guide questions I learned that wasn't the case. The ship was basically gutted after purchase and converted to a hotel. So I felt, overall, the tour lacked authenticity. The Queen Mary has had, from what I understand, most of the original artwork restored, such as the Unicorns in Battle, but the salons and other main areas have been recreated. Of course the ship is legendary on many levels and served many crossings, as the tour guide referred to, from England to America, so it is worth going to pay respects, so to speak. But understanding most of the inside has been recreated. Also the tour guide gave some answers to some of my questions that just didn't seem that accurate. read more

The front desk staff members are absolutely fantastic. Super kind and helpful- especially the young man and lady checking us in and out including Elizabeth with my Full Suite reservation for 4 days for the busy event Weekend Only caveat is the dining options for those on the boat- Chelsea being closed and coming to the Promenade an hour before closing at 8pm to either dine in or take to our rooms- to say the kitchen is already closed when the restaurant closing time is at 9pm is deceptive. Food is good for what it is and I love to sponsor the ship and business when I can, but unclear and inconsistent timing makes it hard and disappointing otherwise. read more
